The cover certainly caught my attention
For two unlikely strangers, the snow swept mountains of Aspen remind us all that love and luck thrive on uneven ground. While newly widowed Mark stews in the shadows of success and loss, conservative Susan shoulders a weight of uncertainty from her romantic past. Can a single dinner for one change the course of fate? Can these starkly different individuals reconcile their own demons enough to see eye to eye? The scene may be right--but what of timing? In the heart of Colorado, under the watchful eye of the majestic Rocky Mountains, visionary Mark and stubborn Susan share a dance of swirling emotions that can only lead to something explosive. Suddenly, without meaning to, they set themselves down a path of self reflection--and personal reconciliation. Will Mark and Susan be able to overcome their own personal ideals and misgivings leading them to palpable passion? Even in the cold mountain town of Aspen--the flames of fervor flicker brightly.

Excellent read! This book is more real world people and events. Very refreshing to read something like this! Real people meeting and falling in love. No dating apps or social media. Just a boy meeting a girl, and being instantly attracted.

This is a sweet romance between a wealthy widower and a struggling working woman with a teenage daughter. Their attraction is almost instant, but past experiences have made them both cautious about committing to each other as their relationship gradually blossoms. The book is slow-paced, which might not appeal to everyone. Every character, major and minor, is described in detail. No detail is left to the imagination as the author describes Marc’s condo, as well as the other settings in the book. And the meals! T. K. admits to a passion for good food and great wine, and that is reflected in his almost bite-by-bite descriptions of the eating experiences in the book. Jackie, the Susan’s 13-year-old daughter is very much a part of the relationship, and there is very little drama as the threesome grows closer to each other. A flareup toward the end adds a little suspense. The the cover warning that the book contains graphic steamy sex scenes is true, but its not enough to putbit in the erotica for me. All-in-all, a nicely satisfying, leisurely read. Highly recommended!

I'm sorry, but this book is just ridiculous. I wanted to give it a chance, since the cover is...weird, but the blurb sounded interesting. But nope.
It's like if Captain Holt from B99 wrote a book, but without his comedic brilliance. You know, rigid dialogues that sound like they were taken from a dictionary, and exhaustive descriptions more fit for an encyclopedia than a Romance novel.
The story, about two adults finding love in their forties/fifties, is cute enough. But it just isn't well written. I'm sorry, I hate being this forward and sounding so mean, but it just didn't work for me.
Also, the obsession with "fitness" was awful, and how much it fixated in describing food, as well as every character's physique, was a lot to take in.
I hate judging a book by its cover but in this case, I should have.

ASPEN: A LOVE STORY: ⭐️
What was this? The sentence structure was short and choppy, the relationship was SUPER bland, and the dialogue was like reading a menu or the ingredients off the side of a box of cereal.

NOTE: I was provided an arc in exchange for an honest review.

The more I read about the love story of Marc and Susan, the more I fell in love with the couple. Marc and Susan both find themselves in Aspen - Marc after losing his wife Maria and Susan after following her lover there. Marc and Susan meet at the restaurant where she works and the two embark on a friendship that leads to romance. When an unexpected nightmare puts Susan's daughter Jackie at risk, Susan and Marc work as a couple to get Jackie back.

It was great to read a novel with characters who had life experience. Their different points of view are skewed by their past, and they must learn to compromise in order to make their romance work.

I must admit, I haven't been able to finish this book. I have picked it up a few times, but I am finding it difficult to get through. I actually thought it would be quite an easy read as it was in the adult section when I was searching for something new to read.

A lot of people are going to love this title, there is a lot of description when it comes to house décor, diet, fashion, and business. I can't stay focused if there's too much description so I found myself skimming over quite a bit.

I didn't mind the characters, but sometimes I felt bad for the dead wife when Marc would compare his new girlfriend to her.

I felt like Marc was missing his calling, instead of going into business as an architect, he should have been a chef for all the meals he was making.

I stopped reading when the daughter was being held hostage by dad. There were a few things that annoyed me about this. Dad apparently didn't want much to do with the daughter and neither did his wife or kids so I just don't get why he would tell her she wasn't allowed to go home. It just didn't really make sense to me, then reading about how Marc's company had been hired to do some work for the company that the dad worked for so he would pull strings there. Then Marc said something about doing a job for the company and agreeing to take on the expense of working 15 MILLION dollars over budget out of their own pocket. It made absolute 0 sense to me and my mind just can't get over some things so I had to stop reading there.

I thought the dialogue was very clinical and so was the wording during the adult scenes, also the adult scenes were very short.

I'm sorry, I wish I liked this. I will however keep it in my library, and come back to it at some point. Sometimes I just need to let it rest so my head can get over its pickiness.

Aspen
T. K. Lucaith
Marc loved his wife deeply and mourned her loss for three years. Together he and Maria built a successful business. After Maria’s death from cancer Marc sold the business for a very nice profit. He invested in Aspen, Colorado and had a Condo built to his specifications in his new building. Susan and her daughter Jackie, moved to Aspen, but the cost of living meant working two jobs. Her degrees were in artistic design. She was working as a waitress at The Prospect (a restaurant) when she meant Mac. Susan has a daughter by her ex-husband. He, the jerk, has never paid a penny in child support. Susan and Marc are mutually attracted although they do not have a lot in common.
The author’s writing style is definitely unique. I like that the author developed mature/older characters. The romance is sweet. However I could not get past the author’s writing style.

Marc lost his wife 3 years ago to cancer. He has had a hard time adjusting to life without his wife who was also his business partner . He decides he needs to sell the business and move to Aspen so that he can move on with his life. Susan moved to Aspen from New York with her significant other several years ago. Within days of moving to Aspen, her parter breaks up with her. Susan and her young daughter stay in Aspen as things have gotten established there. Aspen is even more expensive to live in than New York so she takes s 2nd job as a waitress in a nice restaurant. On Marc’s first night in Aspen, Susan is his waitress they are immediately attracted to each other and Marc asks her out. There relationship develops quickly and Susan’s daughter and Marc also develop a great relationship. Marc realized that is is more compatible with Susan than he was with his first wife. There only issue is money. Marc is extremely wealthy and is very generous with his money. Susan is fiercely independent and has always paid her own way including never even getting child support. She tries to even pay for the dates. They both begin to love each other but Susan breaks up with him after he purchases an expensive gift for her daughter. They both do a lot of reflecting on past and their current relationship and get back together with a stronger relationship. I highly recommend this book.

A nice written story of a rich guy meeting a woman with a lower income. Its an easy read but not a book that catches my attention and will to keep reading. Still very much recommendable.

Mark moves to a new town for a fresh start to move past his wife’s death 3 years prior. Susan is a single mom who works her hardest to provide for herself and her daughter. This story puts your emotions everywhere on the spectrum because of the conflicts, twists and the communication. The character and storyline development made me glued to my screen! The only downside to the story was the first half of the book since it was very slow. Although, after the midpoint it became great and engaging!

This is a new to me author with a very unique writing style.
Aspen is the love story of two older, mature adults. Each very different from the other but they fit together very well.
Marcus is a self made billionaire that lost his wife and first and only love to cancer three years prior. His son and best friend has convinced him to sell his large company and move to Aspen in a condo in his new building.
Susan and her daughter moved to Aspen three years prior with her then girlfriend to be dumped and left to fend for herself. She took on a second job and has no time to date since two jobs and her daughter keep her busy.
Marc meets Susan the first night he moves to Aspen at the restaurant she works at and is immediately smitten by her looks and personality.
I really liked both Susan and Marc and Susan’s daughter Jackie as well.
The story doesn’t have a lot of angst and is a refreshing second chance at life and love between two older, mature adults.
It is sweet and clean, with lots of in depth descriptions of both the characters and Aspen.
If you like older characters, a precious teen, beautiful settings, opposite attract, and an all over sweet romance this is for you.

Aspen- A Love Story is the debut novel by T. K. Lucaith. This is the story of widowed Marcus Gray as he embarks on a new life in Aspen. Marc has sold off his company to his employees retaining a 10% interest and a seat on the board. He has gone into business in a winery with his 25 year old son Ryan. He is a part owner of a radical new work/live project in Aspen, and will say his monthly income, while no one’s business, is greater than 10 sports heroes make in a year.

On Marc’s first night in Aspen, while eating at a nearby hotel restaurant, he meets very attractive Susan Green, his server for the evening. Susan works in advertising but what she makes is not enough for her and her teenage daughter Jackie to live on comfortably so Susan works as a server three nights a week. As fate would allow, Susan is working that evening and from there the story unfolds.

As the reader follows the evolution of the relationship between Marc, Susan, and her daughter, they are taken on an interesting ride through the ups and downs of this midlife romance. When the biggest contention becomes his money, it ends up that his ability to financially support the effort to bring Jackie home when held against his will, that becomes a nonissue.

This is a debut novel. It is well plotted and has engaging characters. While the writing is a bit stilted, it is still an enjoyable bock. I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it.

This is Marc and Susan’s story. Marc lost his wife 3-years previously and moves to a new town for a fresh start. Susan is a single mom who does everything she has to in order to support her daughter and herself. This story is an emotional roller coaster throughout, with conflict, twists, communication, and love, as well as having an intricate and in-depth storyline. The only downside in my opinion only, is the first half of this story is a slow pace, whole the second is extremely fast paced. I look forward to reading more from this author and I recommend this story for all.

Aspen is indeed a love story, but not like those typically found in the romance genre. Marc and Susan both come from unusual backgrounds for most romance novels. Marc, having lost his wife three years previously, is attempting to make a fresh start in a town. Susan is a single mother doing everything she can to provide the best life for her daughter, Jackie. The two come together naturally, each with their own concerns and reservations, but unable to deny the happiness they find in each other. Their story of learning to trust and communicate is both familiar and new, charming in its own unique way.

The book is filled with delightful descriptions of food, furniture, and other details that paint each scene clearly before the reader as if they were in the room. From the start, it’s clear how much care went into creating each moment. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous of the characters for all the different foods they get to enjoy.

My favorite thing about the novel is how Jackie, the daughter of Susan, is present throughout the novel. She is rarely excluded and is welcomed and respected by Marc, rather than ignored in even the slightest way. Instead of focusing wholly on the romantic love between Marc and Susan, there is the love of family present as well.

I did take off a star as the pacing of the novel is slow. While I do think that the conflict is well worth waiting for, it is largely positioned in the second half of the novel, and it did make it a little odd to read. However, there is a lot of charm throughout the book that makes it a good read.

This book was such a wonderful read with good character and storyline development that I was glued to my kindle from the very beginning! Susan and Marc kept me totally engaged with their story as it unfolded as each page was turned until the very last page!
