Early one morning teenagers Jenna and Adam find a body floating in the ocean. Although the two do not know each other well (she goes to the elite girls prep school he resides at a nearby reform school), their lives become intertwined by the experience.
It is quickly revealed that this wasn’t an accidental drowning and Jenna’s best friend becomes a suspect. Jenna, who is the niece of the local police detective, is determined to discover what really happened.
Alternating perspectives, from Jenna to Adam, we learn about the lives and backgrounds of several high ranking rich girls as well as several ‘bad boys’ from the reform school.
As the police investigation continues so does Jenna’s inquiries. Many of the teens know more than they are telling and everyone seems to be hiding something.
Alternating perspectives (from Jenna to Adam) were used well throughout this novel. Although some of the narrative jumps back in time (to before the murder) the story was easy to follow. Police transcripts as well as ‘text message dialog’ was included and was a good way of adding information/clues that would have been otherwise difficult to include (ie police interviews with people other than Jenna or Adam).
Overall this was an entertaining book. Fans of YA mysteries will be intrigued and determined to figure out the identity of the killer.
Thank you to the author and publisher for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

This was a super quick easy and enjoyable read. Right away I found both Jenna and Adam very likable and enjoyed following them on their journey. I became very invested in the storyline and finished the book in two days since I needed to know who killed Colleen.

The author did a great job pacing this story, and despite all the different things happening like past memories, text messages, e-mails, interviews, or news articles it was easy to follow along. Even more, it made the book that much better. I will say that the ending felt a bit rushed, but for the most part, this was a solid young adult mystery.

I love a good YA thriller and this did not disappoint. I liked the addition of the text conversations, news articles, and interview transcripts. There were some fun plot twists, and I liked the characters.

I really liked this book. It took a bit to get into it but as soon as it did, i was hooked and I had to know who the killer was. I was a little disappointed with the ending but other than that I think the author did an excellent job of unraveling the mystery through the split POVs. I would recommend to fans of Karen M. McManus and Stephanie Perkins.

What would you do if you found a body? What would you do if you knew that person? This is the dilemma that Jenna Dallas and Adam Cole face. This death of a high school cheerleader shakes the town of Gardiners Bay and people want answers. Jenna's aunt, with whom she lives, is one of detectives on the case. Perhaps some of her skills have rubbed off on Jenna because she starts to try to piece together the events of the last few months to try to clear the name of her friend, Hollie, who seems to be the main suspect. Jenna's questions lead her to spend more time with Adam as she is convinced that he knows more about the murder than what he is saying. The truth is, Adam does know more and he is willing lie to protect his secrets. As more and more secrets are revealed, Jenna and Adam start to realize that they need to start trusting each other. When another high schooler is found in the bay, Jenna and Adam try to figure out how those two deaths are connected before one of them is arrested or killed. Such a well-crafted thriller and a fun read!

This one took me a little time to get into it, but once I did, I was hooked. The multiple perspectives make for an intense (though sometimes confusing) read. I really liked the main character Jenna and her devotion to the truth. Overall, I definitely recommend it for mystery/suspense YA fans!

When the body of a popular cheerleader is found in the water of their small town, residents of Gardiners Bay want answers. Who killed his girl? And why? It seems there is much to hide between the two schools in town: preppy girls school, Preston and Rookwood, a school for troubled boys. Our story focuses on Max and Adam from the boys school and Jenna and Serena at the girls school, as well as some of their friends. A bit of a mystery that fans of Karen McManus should enjoy.

This is a solid mystery with a little romance on the side. The setting is interesting with a girl's boarding school filled with rich girls and scholarship students and a school for troubled boys. The young people party at an abandoned hunter's cabin.

Put this in the hands of Karen M. McManus, Jenn Bennett, and Stephanie Perkins.
