-This book club guide was very simple and consisted of two different parts.
-The first part was lengthy discussion questions. The discussion questions were open-ended, analytical, and thought-provoking.
-The second part consisted of the author interview that gave a background into her writing process and inspiration for writing the book.

Really enjoyed this kit and additional discussion questions. The conversation with Michelle was so amazing and empowering and it's great to get so much background on this amazing woman.

After reading and loving Becoming a while back, I thought I would check out this book club kit to see how it represented this deeply moving memoir. I run my own book club and often lean on resources such as this one to guide the meeting - and the quality definitely impacts my ease in coming up with discussion points for the group. Overall, I think the kit does a pretty good job!
Pros:
-Not too long
-The questions, much like the book, spend a lot of time with Michelle and her insights rather than focusing on the pieces of the book about Barack too heavily, while still addressing her coming to terms with her new role in the world
-Didn't include too many "fluff questions" as some book club guides do (those are so often skipped in book clubs as someone who runs one!)
-I loved the quotes and snippets highlighted throughout the discussion questions and guides
-The book covers many phases in Michelle's life and the guide has a great mix of that through the questions and extended questions
Cons
-As some have mentioned, I think this could have included more dynamic and interactive elements (playlist, media that Michelle loves - books, movies, etc)
Neutral:
-I thought some of these questions were phrased in a way that made it more suitable for a school discussion (high school or college class) - but I find a lot of book club guides to be that way!

It's a great resource for book clubs who do well in gathering but may struggle to dive into the material. The Q&A was a nice addition, as it provided some reflection on the process of writing a memoir and viewing one's life as whole.

This book club kit is quite helpful for book club questions to start with, and I very much enjoyed the fascinating author information shared within as well.

This Book Club Kit contains discussion questions as well as an interview with Michelle Obama and is designed to accompany a book club meeting on Becoming. My favourite part of this kit was definitely the interview as I found it fascinating and its definitely convinced me to finally read this book. I also really enjoyed the quotes page which was included as it gave me a taste of her writing style which enforced my desire to read this book. I thought the discussion questions would be great to encourage some interesting conversations at a book club meeting.

Beautifully presented book club kit that talks you through major points of the book and gives you discussion topics. The kit includes questions, quotes and a Q and A with Michelle Obama to get the discussions going.

The visual design aspect of the kit is very neat and professional and the questions make for interesting and thorough diving into the topics of the book.

Becoming has been in my TBR for the longest. Everything has a place and a time; the time to b read this book was NOW. As I read this book i saw thru her writing the love and admiration she held for her husband- Barack Obama. There are many times in this memor where they could have taken the easy road, but did not. These moments helped to shape Michelle Obama, and her family into people that are loved and admired.
This is a must read memoir

Becoming is about and written by such a strong woman, these guide is so great in the way it asks questions that makes you think more about the book!

This Book Club Kit for Michelle Obama's book, Becoming, is a useful tool to reflect on one's experience reading this book. It includes graphics, an interview with Michelle, and discussion/reflection questions. Similar to some of the other reviewers, to make this kit more comprehensive it would have been neat to have some additional media included, such as suggested food/drink recipes for book club and also a music playlist, since Michelle loves music. But overall I would recommend this kit if you are wanting to have a deeper, guided discussion on Becoming.
