Full disclosure: This one was a DNF for me. I don't typically like to leave reviews if I don't finish a book, but on the other hand, I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. Not writing a review wouldn't be honest, would it?

A further disclosure is that this is the first book in this particular series that I read or tried to read anyway. It's possible that if I'd read the previous four books, I might have had a greater appreciation for the couple that stars in this one. That said, I liked the hero Kerr well enough. His main flaw was finding anything interesting in the heroine Isobel. For her part, Isabel was incredibly annoying. All she did was play tricks on Kerr that could be described as mischievous at best and mean-spirited at worst. True, Kerr seemed to relish her attempts, but for me... Meh. I just couldn't see any chemistry.

It's possible that the book eventually takes a turn for the better. However, I read just shy of half of the book and I just couldn't stand Isobel any longer. I tried taking breaks and coming back to the book once or twice, but it got to the point when trying to pick it up again just made me angry.

If you look at other reviews, it seems that I'm in the minority. If you're familiar with this author or the series, you know what you're getting into and will probably like it. For me though I just can't read one page more.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. I appreciate the opportunity even if I didn't appreciate the book. Thanks!

This is the long-anticipated conclusion of The Sons of Gregor MacLeod series and focuses on two characters who have appeared throughout the books, Kerr Macalister and Isabelle MacKinnon. They've known each other most of their lives and crushed on each other at various times, but the timing has never been right. In fact, as a young man, Kerr rejects Isabelle who later grows into a desirable woman known as the Beauty of the Highlands. A more fitting name for Isabelle, however, would be the Petty Queen. She's been holding a grudge against Kerr and won't give him another chance despite his desire to marry her. Isabelle acts childishly and foolishly and just won't let go. However, her love for Kerr is clear as is his love for her. Kerr is so steadfast in his love that I found myself rooting for their HEA even as I was beyond annoyed with Isabelle. Kerr can't have a HEA without his Izzy though. She's his other half. Their relationship sparkled with playful banter and sizzling exchanges. This was a fun read (after you get over some of Isabelle's behavior!), and I can see how the writer has matured stylistically through the series. I would have liked a little more backstory like to know why Kerr finally fell in love with Isabelle. It happens off-page; we're simply told that he did but showing us the moment he fell for Isabelle would have made her a more sympathetic character.

Overall, it was a great book and series. The plot against the brothers is resolved, Gregor's boys are all happy. Now, hopefully, Gregor gets his HEA too!

I found this to be such a wonderful story to read and quite entertaining! The heroine of the story, Isobel, is a real minx but her heart's in the right place:) I loved the banter between her and Kerr, many times I was giggling at their antics.

Isobel and Kerr have known each other a long time and she's forever setting traps for him and her brother because, well, they are annoying! Kerr has determined that she is the one for him but convincing her of that is another thing!!! One does not tell Isobel what to do!

Well written and never a dull moment, a really fun read!!

I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

cringe alert... so Isobel, our strong woman heroine, once tried to plant a kiss on her crush. He rejected her, and she's still holding a grudge years later. I mean, she's holding a grudge, while she admires him via the side eye. Anyway, NOW he's interested, and he's a day late and a dollar short. She's not having it. Kerr, lovely Scot that he is, is definitely having it... he has made up his mind that Isobel will be his wife.
Throw in some danger from some unseen threats and forced isolation of our couple... you have a great romance here.

Well, this was a disappointment. I really didn't like Isobel character at all. When a moving into a new chapter, it felt very disjointed and very confusing at times.

A fun read, that can be read stand alone, but will make you want to go back and read the whole series.

Kerr has always know that Isobel was the one for him, no matter how much she fights it there is a chemistry between them that can not be denied. Isobel is a very strong and independent women, though at times throughout the book she can come off a little childish. Not to the point that I couldn't keep reading, that is one of my DNF this book asap ticks, but you can skip a few paragraphs.

I loved how Kerr just understands her, and actually listens which is rare for these times. Kerr and Isobel have great banter and chemistry throughout the book. I really enjoyed this read and will be going back to read the others in the series.

Highland Thief was a fun romance novel to fall into at the beginning of the summer. I hadn't read the other books in the series, but was not lost in the plot of the final story. The slow build of the relationship between the hero and heroine made the story especially poignant.I definitely went back and bought the first book in the series after finishing Highland Thief.

I read Highland Captive after finding it on a e-library app and absolutely loved it. Along with loving the story of Gavin and Deirdre, I loved meeting Kerr and Isobel. It was immediately obvious that these two were meant for one another so I couldn't wait to read their love story. Highland Thief definitely lived up to (and in some ways exceeded by expectations). My only complaint was that it got a little repetitive with Isobel's constant rejection of Kerr's affections. He is a saint for continuing to fight for (and with) her rather than just returning home and finding a woman who would love him in return. I saw Isobel finally telling Kerr about how his rejection from when she was 15 continued to affect her as the turning point in their relationship and the first time they really had a conversation about their feelings for one another. My heart did break for Kerr a few times when Isobel rejected him - he was so open and honest and sincere and then she would just say 'no'. Poor guy. It was a shame it took him almost being killed for her to finally admit her feelings, but better than her continuing to pretend he wasn't the man she wanted to spar with for the rest of her life. I also really liked that she wanted to learn how to defend herself - no damsel in distress here. The fact that had Kerr not "kidnapped" Isobel they probably wouldn't have uncovered the plot against them was a little too convenient, but I was willing to overlook that in order to find out what has been going on through the previous books. The final confrontation between Kerr and the bad guys was interesting and well written. This was a really great ending to the series.

This was the first book I’ve read from this series and I enjoyed it. However, I thought Isabella was really childish and annoying at times but I liked relationship between her and Kerr. I wish the plot was a little more suspenseful, which would have made me a little more interested and eager to finish the book faster.

Kerr MacAlister knows that he belongs to Isobel MacKinnon. And she belongs to him. Their union is inevitable. But she would rather dump him in a pit of manure than accept any of his marriage proposals. Kerr takes the chance to spirit her away to a hunting cabin - where they will either kill each other...or she will finally accept what her heart is telling her head.

Well, I was thrilled with the ending to this series - Highland Thief was such a satisfying conclusion to the dangerous plot against Gregor's sons that has been wending its way through the other books. Not only that, but there was edge-of-your-seat action, great supporting characters (I loved Eirik and Siv!!) and sexy banter. I did find Isobel a littttle irritating to start with (okay, REALLY irritating), but that ebbed as the story wore on.

An exciting tale, with lots of action and adventure. The characters are likeable and easy to relate to, though I could have done with just a smidge more humour. This is the last book in the series, but the first book I’ve read - there are various references to previous characters and I suspect that the book would have been even more enjoyable if read after the previous ones. A great story though and it definitely made me want to read more by this author.

I recieved a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book.
This is the last in a series and while I feel like I missed out on some things because of that, overall I liked the book.
The relationship between Kerr and Isobel was really great.
Isobel and Kerr were meant to be together and Kerr's determination to have her see that was great. I liked how she was a strong independent woman and that Kerr was always willing to listen to her counsel.
Can't wait to go back and the previous books in the series.
