The premise behind this book is wonderful as a celebration of women and women of color becoming everything they dream of. To be really inspiration though, I feel like it needs to be more that a simple letter and needs really dynamic illustrations. I didn't really like the illustrations, they lacked depth and were a little dull.

This book was good, but it. fell a little flat for me. Of course it's important for children, especially girls, to see a woman president (hopefully sometime soon!), but this book didn't feel like like it would be easy for children to connect to.

Vibrant illustrations accompany the text of Maya’s letter to a woman president. These are messages that girls need to hear, and I applaud the book for so compellingly portraying a woman president. Some parts of the text succeed more than others; it sometimes feels contrived or didactic rather than a friendly letter. Overall, an excellent and welcome book.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

It is definitely a cute little book, but I wish it had more oomph. Hoping that it translates better as a hardcover picture book than an ePub.

I’m going to be completely honest I was a bit let down by this book. I liked what was incorporated but it was just so short and I was expecting more.

Now don’t get me wrong, I did like what was included. I like all the reasons Naya listed for why she looks up to the president for instance her compassion, leadership, and intelligence. However, these things are just listed and while the illustrations help us get a better look at what Naya is referring to, we don’t really get any other descriptions.

I liked the message that the author is trying to put out, that little girls can be anything they want to be, including a president; however, I just wasn’t as inspired as I would have liked to have been. I finished the book and was just like okay and didn’t feel like it was a must share.

One part of the book that was my favorite was the ending PS. I would also like to know why there are no women on the dollar bills, I definitely agree with Naya that there needs to be a change.

Looking at the illustrations, I wasn’t that big of a fan. The colors felt pretty muted throughout the book and there wasn’t a lot happening in the pictures. I did like the choice to make Mrs. President BIPOC and would like to see this representation in other books.

If you were going to add this book to your classroom I think it would be a decent addition but it’s not one I would necessarily read directly in whole group. If you did choose to read it aloud I think a cool activity would be to write a letter to Madam Vice President Kamala Harris. The author actually has a printable pdf that your students could use as a template to write her a letter.

Perfect material and content for educators to use in the classroom, specifically early elementary teachers,. This is a great resource for educators to incorporate into their curriculum.

The idea is good, the message important and the illustrations cute. But it felt flat and like something was missing.

I thought this was such a great picture book for young kids. To show what it might be like to have a female President of the United States and I love how this is told in a letter form from a child to Mrs. President. I also thought the illustrations were amazing and I think that all children can read this and be inspired.

This was a sweet book about a woman president and how brave/strong she can be. It's great for readers ages 7-10.

Thanks for the chance to read this book. This is essentially what the title states -- a letter from a young girl who is inspired by [what is obviously supposed to be] VP Harris. Illustrations are nice. The content idea is nice. I just don't know if I really like the way it was delivered. And I'm left with wondering, "Why?" and "Okay?" instead of thinking this was cute or inspirational. It's like an adult was trying to write on behalf of a child self in hindsight.

PS: Of course I think that the content and its message are 100% needed. Just my honest feedback about its delivery.

This book is a letter from a child to the first female President. This book encourages kids to look further and dream big. Naya sends the letter to thank the President for having leadership and example to all girls to strive for the best with confidence. I really enjoyed this book for young girls ages 3 to 7 years old. This book was right on time now that we have an African American female vice president! Woot woot!! This is a great educational book that parents, grandparents, caregivers, and educators should get. This is my first read by this author but will not be my last. I would definitely pass this book on to my granddaughter. I give this book five stars.

I liked the idea behind this book in that it is inspiring to young girls.

It was a hopeful book with a positive message but I found it to be a little brief and a little lacking overall.

The book had a focus on the qualifies of what the first Mrs President would have.

My only question - why did it have to be Mrs President and not Madam President – why does the first one have to be a Mrs?

It is 3 stars from me for this one.

This book fell a little flat for me. It seemed like it was trying to push the needle forward too much in just a short children's book. I agree that there needs to be more representation in books; but I'm not sure it needs to be as obvious. Either way, I can certainly agree with the author that having a female BIPOC vice-president is something to be celebrated. I did enjoy the illustrations, particularly that of the PS. at the end of the book. While I wouldn't recommend this book specifically to a young reader, I think it would fit well with all the the children's politics books plastered with pictures of old white men!

Dear Mrs. President is a letter written by a little girl, Naya, to the future Mrs. President of the United States. It would be a perfect read aloud even for upper elementary students. It shares how the future Mrs. President is someone to look up too, inspires young girls just like Naya to be the best they can be and to keep aiming higher. There were a few sentences/phrases that I thought were a bit mature for the targeted audience, but overall it was such a cute book with perfect illustrations. Thank you NetGalley, Ana Maria Medici, and the publisher for the eARC in return for an honest review.

"I thank you for teaching me that I, too, can be anything I choose."
