I am really enjoying these graphic novels about weather. I am fascinated with weather and really wish these books were around when I was young. Whiteout is about 2 kids who visit their uncle and get to experience a blizzard. It was a lot of fun to read the story while also being educational.

The drawing style is interesting, sometimes reminiscent of European comics with the way that eyes and noses are placed. The story is built around characters info-dumping facts about blizzards, and arguably you need a little more time with the characters to make them interesting enough that they don't just feel like stock characters. Still, it's entertaining and gets the point across.

It was my first time reading a graphic novel about weather, but this book was very easy to read and I think this is a great first step to learn about the snow and blizzard conditions.

This one was honestly just okay. It was a cute read but not too intriguing or aesthetic! Still recommend for young children however

All About Blizzards

This is only my second one, but I certainly enjoy the nonfiction graphic novels for kids written by this author. This one is all about blizzards, and we learn about them through a story about a dad and two daughters who are visiting their uncle on Michigan's northern peninsula. Just after they arrive, a blizzard hits. Luckily, the uncle is quite knowledgeable about these dangerous snowstorms and shares what he knows with the kids, alleviating their fears and allowing them to hope for a storm break so they can ski. The author packs a lot of information within the story itself but also has a page with more details about how to stay safe when a blizzard hits and a glossary. If you live in snow country or have a child who is interested in science or the weather, this book could provide information to help understand blizzards better.

I liked that this book was educational in nature, but I wasn't very fond of the artwork. The story was okay, it just wasn't my favorite book for teaching children about blizzards.

This nonfiction book about a family going to visit their uncle up north was very educational. As someone who survived the Texas Snowpocolypse this year, it's important to know all the facts in this book about how to survive a blizzard and what to do when the weather is freezing and snowing. I liked the facts included in this graphic novel, as well as the teenager with different colored hair!

This book centers around a family that visits as they visit an uncle a snowstorm starts. They explore what a blizzard is and how the uncle prepares for it.

I really liked it. It is a great concept and conveys the information well. They even included a glossary at the end of the weather terms used.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for my review.

Interesting book for young readers about the circumstances surrounding blizzards. The fam has taken a trip to see their uncle when they discover that there is excessive snowfall. Inside, they discuss the science behind it all. The uncle clears the snow with his truck and plow, and they get to ski.

It’s a decent concept and would be cool as a series for different weather situations. The pink hair is also pretty cool. Wondering if it’s based off someone irl.
