So after reading the last two books back to back I was worried I may get tired of Kim and the team and this may affect my judgement. I have no idea what I was thinking because that was just a ridiculous notion. This book was absolutely brilliant. Very dark and twisted (especially some of the horrific scene descriptions in this book) but a book that was just as good as the last. The team are working a murder case which then becomes more than one victim and the way these victims die is nothing short of horrific. If you are squeamish then maybe do a hard pass on this book but personally I think the authenticity is absolutely spot on.

Yes we see the return of the usual crew but thankfully we also see Tracy Frost, a local reporter, return and I am so glad she did. This woman deserves a place in the series as much as Bryant, Stacy and Penn. The storyline woven with Frost also sees a turn in the relationship between Kim and Tracy which made for interesting reading. Somehow, Angela Marson's has that knack that other author such as Peter James has to still make a series seem fresh even though we are now well into book 14 of this series. I seriously cannot recommend this series enough. If I had my way I could just read these books back to back in one hit from the beginning. Another absolute belter from Marson's, but now I will give my brain a break and maybe read a more light hearted book next and then straight back to Kim and the team for book 15!

Angela Marsons Twisted Lies
It's Kim Stone by Angela Marsons, so you know you are in for one hell of a ride, with twist after twist. Another fantastic installment in this series, they just get better and better.
This one is pretty gruesome, and I loved it!!

The trial of Nick Morley ended in a hung jury and now DI Stone and DS Bryant have to convince the family of Trisha Morley that they are still committed to getting a guilty verdict in her death. The last thing Kim and Bryant need is to take reporter Tracy Frost on a drive along, and when they are called to a grisly scene where a man was tortured. When a second torture victim is found in a nearby park, it is up to DI Kim Stone and her team to find a connection between the two, a motive and a murderer before someone else turns up dead. Further investigation reveals that the victims are all involved in some way with witness protection and their identities have been changed. Tracy begins a campaign to make Nick Morley look guilty and his PR campaign ramps up putting Tracy in danger. Lots going on, but the main thing is to find a murderer before anyone else ends up tortured and dead.

This was another gripping crime thriller that I have come to expect from Angela Marsons. As we learn how these crimes tie together, it brings back a story right from the pages of the news, albeit several years ago. It was interesting to see how witness protection can be used not just to protect a witness. I do not want to give anything away so will say nothing more about the story. Angela Marsons is one of those authors who is extremely creative and talented. Being able to write a story that is so realistic, with relatable characters, and one that is so gripping is the reason I keep coming back to her books. I highly recommend this series.

Silent Scream, the first book in the series, was the first book I ever wrote a review for on my blog. It signalled the beginning of my blogging hobby which led to my career in the publishing industry. This might sound creepy, but I think about Marsons a lot as if it wasn't for her creating a team of characters I was immediately seduced by, I wouldn't have felt the need to shout about them to the world (well, my little corner of the Web were I tell you all about the books I love!)

Detective Inspector Kim Stone is a standout character in a genre full of similar characters. She is head and shoulders above the rest, even without stealing Frost's killer heels to add a few inches! ;-) (if you know, you know)

Twisted Lies is the perfect title for this one as that is what we get. A plot full of twists and turns that leave you breathless. And not just in terms of the killer.

Tracy Frost is back. Journalist extraordinaire and sometimes help but mainly a hindrance to Kim and the team thanks to her determination to get a front page exclusive. Woody has arranged for her to spend the with Kim, regular readers will know what Kim's reaction to that bombshell was ... What follows is a intense sub-plot that brings their love/hate relationship to the fore and which had me sobbing into my pillow late one night! Frost and Stone been through a lot together and their friendship is one based solely on a very slim mutual respect. They've helped each other in the past but Stone will never understand Frost's need for a headline and Frost will never understand Stone's need to keep things under wraps. Things change in Twisted Lies and Frost finds herself questioning her approach to her work which leads her down a dangerous path...

This is the reason I love this series. FOURTEEN books in I'm so attached to the characters, even the ones who 'only' make occasional appearances, that I end up in tears when things go right, or wrong. for them! It truly is a testament ot Marsons' writing skills that I'm still affected in this way, and I love it!

One thing I do love about Kim is that although she has changed and been on one of the best character development arcs I've seen, the changes are authentic and subtle. Marsons has kept her true to herself from the start even though there have many opportunities for her to just make her 'normal'. I just love it.

I will never tire of this series and Twisted Lies is a deftly woven tale of revenge, obsession, and killer so twisted it took my breath away.

have read a lot of series over the years and on occasion have given them up due to many reasons such as boredom, stale plot lines etc.

14 books in to the D.I.Kim Stone series and I am definitely not bored and Marson’s creativity and brilliant writing just gets better and better.

This book by far is my favorite. The intricate story and details keep you turning the pages and the side story line that Stone’s nemesis reporter Frost follows adds another layer in this series that had me hooked.

Both of the cases we followed through this book are cruel and brutal crimes but the passion of Stone and her team make you feel like you are working to help them solve the crime. Marson’s attention to detail always has a purpose and even the smallest thing eventually shows itself later in the story.

This whole series is a must read recommendation from me!

Twisted Lies brings about the case of two victims, with no apparent link at first, while Kim and her team discover that a secret that was buried deep is coming into play. Tracy Frost, a reporter that Kim initially despised, has information involving the previous murder of a woman. Kim is none too pleased that her boss insists she work with Tracy on this newest case. Kim really has her hands full this time around with another book full of shocking twists. In fact, each and every book is as or more thrilling that the previous book.

Twisted Lies the 14th installment of the Kim Stone series is a perfect mystery/thriller. True to it's title this book is twisted and nail-bitingly good! Angela Marsons is an author of very high caliber and I've been a crazy fangirl since book 1. Every book is unique, compelling and stands out to me. This was no different. With Kim Stone the pages keep turning as the excitement builds. I loved the plot of this book. The crimes were chilling and I couldn't wait to get to the end. For the characters there's nothing that I can say that's already not been said before. They're fabulous!

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Angela Marsons for the arc.

I love this series and I have to say that I think that this was quite possibly my favourite of the series so far – the book was one that I really did not want to put down!

The plot for this one was dark, gritty and intense and it was one that really had DI Stone questioning the motives and the whole thing drew me in. It was a little gruesome but it was in keeping with the plot and it wasn’t done for sensationalism. I liked the characterisation and I did feel for the characters involved as well as Stone’s team.

I read the book over two evenings but if I hadn’t had work and been in Court for that I can honestly say that I would have carried on reading in to the early hours.

The book is superb, I love Angela Marsons books with a huge passion, the series gets better and better and as soon as I finish the latest release I want to get my hands on the next time and time again. I love that there is variety and the plots don’t repeat themselves. There are underlying themes and recurring characters but you can pick up a book knowing you will get a fantastic intense read that will leave you reeling, and ultimately wanting more.

It is 5 stars from me for this one, it was well developed, well written and a completely addictive read – very highly recommended and I am on to the next book in the series already – love them!!

DI Kim Stone and her team are called to investigate a tortured body on an industrial estate . When Kim breaks the bad news to the victim’s wife she is surprised by the lack of emotion shown by the woman and soon after the family flees without a trace. When a second body is found tortured in a local nature reserve Kim must discover the motive fast before this sadistic killer strikes again

Twisted Lies is the 14 book by Angela Marsons in the DI Kim Stone series. This really is an outstanding series and this one continues in the same vein, exciting plot, gritty characters, surprising twists and turns and so well written. Can't wait for book 15!

I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

Another great book from this author. I really enjoyed her previous books and this did not fail to deliver.

I love the Kim Stone books, this is the fourteenth in the series and I am loving them as much now as when I started. Stone is in the thick of a murder investigation, with the team, called to a new body/site however this time she has a tagalong she would rather have papped at the office. Arriving at the scene throws them all in a spin for the horror of what has been done to the victim. Not before long another body is found, horrifically murdered - a different style from the first and the family of victim one has vanished. As the team try to investigate they find themselves obstructed and dealing with other agencies. All Stone wants to do is her job and people keep getting in her way.

We see Frost (the nightmare reporter) a good bit in this one and we see a different side to her. She gets wrapped up in a case, a guy accused of killing his mrs but he has money, publicity and Frost soon finds anyone digging into his past or unfavourable publicity runs the risk of injury/accidents.

The book flips between Frost and Stone's investigations, guys the killings are really brutal. One I was so glad I had finished my lunch before picking the book up and that doesn't happen to me often, I love horror etc so have a strong stomach but ooft, brutal. Stone for me is such a great character, despite being reserved, even cold at times, she is such a "good guy" and does the right thing even if she would rather patch it. I LOVE her relationship with her dog and the way she is with her team. A busy book, murders, team work, elements of domestic abuse, murder, graphic mutilations to bodies and as usual bits and bobs within the team. 4/5 for me this time, there is a prequel type book where it goes back before book one, I apparently bought it ages ago so need to dig it out. I really enjoy stepping into their world and seeing what is coming next for the squad!

#TwistedLies #NetGalley This is a great series and this book is no exception. Capable of being read as a stand alone but you do get more enjoyment out of the book if you have a deeper understanding in relation to the history of Kim and her team. The case this time is a particularly gruesome one (which I don't mind!) with lots of action and plot twists and turns. I like that you also see a softer side to Kim in her relationship with Frost and I look forward to seeing how this further develops in future books. Can't wait for the next in this series, definitely 5 stars from me!

As with all of the Kim Stone series, I loved this book. It had me hooked from beginning to end. My only gripe would be that Penn & Bryant didn’t have as big a role as they normally do and I adore their characters. That being said I really enjoyed seeing a softer side to both Kim & Frost and I love their banter. Is this the start of a new friendship?

With regards to the case, it’s a gory one. If you don’t like gruesome descriptions then this probably isn’t the one for you. The murders also kept me guessing until the end and the interesting motive added that little bit extra. There’s also a secondary case going on with Frost writing an article about a woman who was murdered by her rich and powerful husband after years of abuse. Things get heated and this definitely adds to the fantastic pace of the book.

The twists and turns in both plotlines made it difficult to put down and the ending has me impatiently waiting for the next book. I keep expecting a dud in this series because it’s been going so long but I think they’re actually getting better.

I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

As usual a great read from Angela Marsons and her character Kim Stone a new and particularly gruesome method of murder with surprising reasoning for them..I was kept in suspense until the motive for the killings was revealed even then yet another twist a gripping storyline well worth a read.
