Really enjoyable story featuring a strong female lead who is set to overcome hardships and chase her dreams no matter what, I thought it had Daisy Jones and the Six vibes.

I saw this comped to Daisy Jones and the Six and while I definitely see the similarities, I love that this has a true romantic HEA. Really hoping we get to hear more of the characters love stories.

Narration: Alexander Cendese does a fantastic job. Tamika Simone is a new to be narrator, but I enjoyed her narration.

Thanks to Dreamscape and NetGalley for my chance to review.

This book is delightful, enjoyable and an entertaining read. The narrator is excellent!

Thank you, Xio Axelrod, the publisher & Netgalley for my copy! All opinions are my own.

So many people told me this book is for fans of Daisy Jones and the Six, and I think that clouded my reading of the book. True it is a book about a romance, a band, and their struggles, but it did not capture me like the other book.

This is a delightful new adult book about navigating hardships and chasing your dreams and it was a delight! It was a bit too long and the romance was a slowwww burn, but overall, it was enjoyable!

I love Alexander Cendese as a narrator. He had range and a cart load of male characters inside. It was nice to meet Tamika Simone. In this story of new adult romance and taking that leap into the world. Antonia (Toni) and Sebastian (Seb) find that life does not end after they part ways years before. Now both are adults and looking to chase their dreams. Life is not always what you want from it, but what you make of the life you are given.

Ever pick up a book without knowing much about it and it introduces you to characters you know will linger in your heart for while? Yeah... Major book hangover.

Black Girls Rock
This friends to enemies to lovers romance is a heck of a journey. Toni Bennett is a killer guitarist mostly doing session work in Philadelphia. When she gets the opportunity to audition for a temporary role with an established all-girl punk band it sounds like a dream gig, but the tryout comes with a complication. Their manager is the long lost best friend who abandoned her without warning years ago. A solid rock star romance with a diverse cast of characters.

Axelrod's The Girl With Stars in Her Eyes offered a fascinating view of what it takes for a woman to jump into the male-dominated music business. Axelrod's characters are relatable and deeply emotive. Cheered for Toni Bennett (love the name) the entire way!

The Girl with Stars in Her Eyes brought a talented female rocker story to life, which I loved. It is great to read about female empowerment and fighting for what is deserved against the odds in a male dominant field. I enjoyed the twist of a young budding romance that ends abruptly and then returns in the same music scene years later when the two least expect it. The tension was palpable with the narration of the novel.

Toni is abandoned by her mother and left with a neglectful father. Luckily she joined forces this Seb to try to escape their small town together. This dream never happened because Toni was left while Seb searched for his own musical dream and to escape his tragic home-life.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to listen to this audiobook for an honest review.

If you love music and a great love story then this one will definitely be up your alley. From start to finish, I found myself fully immersed in this story. I loved the main characters and their chemistry. I definitely can't wait for more books from this author.

I've loved books about music lately (Daisy Jones, Opal and Nev), but this one just didn't work. It started strong for me, and I was excited, but it just didn't follow through for me.

While I found the story of this one really compelling, the male narrator did not work for me, and I found it hard to continue the story. I look forward to finishing the book in physical/ebook form sometime later!

3.5 stars for this cool story about an amazing musician finding her voice and her friends in an all-female band, and reconnecting with the soulmate from her youth. I loved all of the musical pieces of this book - the way Axelrod describes Toni's playing and the Lillys' performances was so enchanting. The flashbacks to Toni and Seb as teenagers were interesting, but I wanted more from Seb - why was he locked in this co-dependent relationship with Candy, why isn't HE playing as a musician rather than acting as a band manager, etc. Toni was a really compelling main character, though, and I loved reading her tale.

A talented musician who doesn’t like the limelight but gets an opportunity to temporarily fill in for The Lilly’s, a popular girlband. The income will help make her dream come true to co-own a recording studio. Little does she know that she’ll come face to face with her childhood best friend who broke her heart.
It’s an entertaining second chance story with a few twists , great supporting characters revolving around the music industry.
I loved Toni, she stayed true to herself, she kept on keeping on.
This will be a series and I’m excited to read more about the other characters this girl band.

This is an awesome story of a strong woman who is a survivor. She is a bad a$$. Somewhat of a slow burn, but in a good way. This book was paced just right.

When I heard The Girl with Stars in Her Eyes was a contemporary romance for fans of Daisy Jones and the Six, I knew I had to read it. Unfortunately, this one ended up not being for me, but that seems to be an unpopular opinion as I have many friends who loved it!

The Girl with Stars in Her Eyes is the story of two young musicians that both suffered horrible childhoods and got a second chance at love years later. The book started off really strong with a prologue that immediately had me intrigued and looking forward to this friends-to-lovers/second chance romance, but after that the book started to lose me.

There was a lot less romance than I was expecting. Toni and See rarely have any interactions until way later in the book and I just didn’t feel a connection between them. It was a very slow burn with a little bit of steam. The story was more focused on the band and was very heavy on the technical aspects of music. As someone who is not musically inclined, a lot of it went over my head and I found myself just skimming through it.

I did really like Seb’s character and his narrator, Alexander Cendese, did an amazing job with the audiobook. Since the book was so long, I would have just loved more from their friendship and romance.

I think this would be popular with musicians and music lovers. It did feel like a contemporary Daisy Jones and the Six with the focus on the band and characters with some toxic issues.

Thank you so much to Dreamscape Media, Netgalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca, Edelweiss Plus for my gifted copies!

What an unexpected surprise! I found myself rooting for the main character from the very beginning. Her life struggles and her determination despite that made you fall in love with her from the start. I have to say I was not a fan of Seb in the beginning but glad I didn't give up on him as he was one of my favorites throughout the book. Looking forward to the next book!

I love a book about a band. Add in a second-chance romance plot line , and I am sold. The musical element makes this a fabulous audiobook. Definitely recommend.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.

The Girl with Stars in Her Eyes follows Toni B and her guitar as she sings her to her ultimate dreams. That is if she can nail the audition her childhood friend (who abandoned her!) Seb doesn't sabotage her audition. Xio Axelrod creates the perfect balance of badass guitarist Toni finding her voice while also rediscovering her childhood friendship Seb. With the right amount of romance and rock 'n roll The Girl With Stars in Her Eyes is hits all the right notes for a sizzling romance. Readers Alexander Cendese and Tamika Simone heighten the narrative with their reading performances making for an electrifying listen.
