A slow but good read.

Just when it would get good it would get slow again.

Joachim is very wishy washy. He really didn't have much of a backbone.

This Danielle Steel book disappointed me. This one fell flat.

Been a fan of Danielle Steel for years. This book took me awhile to get into tbh. The characters were totally relatable and I enjoyed the story. I will continue to read her books like I’ve done for over 20 years. She’s a beautiful story teller.

No matter how many books this author writes ,they are all unique and carefully crafted. I have been reading Danielle Steel books since I was 16 years old. I used to get them from my grandma.. This book was one that I finished in about a day. I could not put it down. Joachim von Hartmann was born and raised in Buenos Aires by his loving German mother. He has a twin brother named Javier. However, when they move to Paris when Joachim is a teen, Javier is left behind and goes down a dark path.

Joachim takes a job working for Olivia who has come back to Paris to assist with her mother. Joachim is working as a butler. Seeing their paths intersect in life, where they are both at cross roads. As usual, the author has crafted and created memorable characters.
was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher, author via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

# The Butler by # Danielle Steel is one of my favorites. It's a New York Times bestseller -of course. Described as two very different lives and two different worlds that collide in Paris. It is a very heartwarming novel.
Thank you for the advance copy,

Oh I love reading Karen’s books. She writes about real life issues and any one of her characters could be me. The siblings fight just like all siblings do and and you could just feel the tension in the house when it happens. I don’t know about anyone else but I would love to be a member of the Baxter family! Thank you for writing such great books Karen!

Danielle Steele never disappoints. Growing up, I would steal away and hide reading one of her novels from my mothers shelves. The Butler was equal parts stunning and eloquent. Not your average ‘wrong side of the tracks’ novel. Check it out!

After the death of their father and grandfather at less than a year old the twins Javier and Joachim are raised by their mother. At 54 Liese finds the love of her life and relocates to Paris with her new husband. Javier stays behind where he gets involved with drug cartels. Joachim is heartbroken being separated from his twin and on a whim goes to London to train as a butler.

Olivia White is raised by her mother, Margaret. After the death of her mother and the failure of her magazine she moves to Paris to find herself. She needs an assistant and hires Joachim who is between jobs and thinks this will be interesting temporary position.

The first 38% of the story was just telling the backstory of the two characters. The title is a little misleading because even though Joachim was a butler we don't hear much about it. He seems a likeable enough guy, so does Olivia and Joachim's mother is a delightful woman. Out of all the characters I felt I liked her the best. She was more fleshed out than any of the others. It's a romance and it was nice that they were a bit older than most romances but I just felt like it lacked some depth.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for providing me with a copy.

This was a very inspiring story by one of my favorite authors Danielle Steel. Joachim von Hartmann was born and raised in Buenos Aires by his German mother he was inseparable from his identical twin. When Joachim moves to Paris with hi mom his twin stays behind and enters a dark world. Joachim begins training to become a butler and goes on to work in some of the grandest homes in England. His brother never reappears.Olivia White gives up ten years of her life to her magazine, which fails taking all her dreams with it. A bequest from her mother allows Hera year in Paris to reinvent herself. She needs help setting up her apartment where she meets Joachim comes in to be her help and their journey together begins. An unlikely employer and employee learn they enjoy working together side by side. At the same time Joachim discovers the family history he never knew, a criminal grandfather that died in prison, the wealthy father who abandoned him, and the dangerous criminal his twin had become. They two strive to discover the truth about each other and themselves, first as employer, then as friends. A very enjoyable story following the lives of these characters through trials and tribulations. Recommend to all.

4.5 rounded up to 5
Love Danielle Steele’s books! The Butler doesn’t disappoint. This time, the main character is a male. I like this refreshing viewpoint! This novel is what you would expect in a Danielle Steele book. Amazing settings- Argentina to Paris and layered characters.
If you enjoy Danielle Steele, I highly recommend this book. I want to thank the author, Delacorte Press and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This novel focuses on a modern day out of work butler that takes a job as an assistant to a 40ish woman This was a different take on things with the perspective being from a male instead of a female. I think i've read all of her books and while some aren't as good as others, i still am a big fan. Thank you netgalley and the publisher for an e-arc in exchange for a review.

Drama and secrets. Ms. Steele wrote another fine novel. I love the two main characters and enjoyed knowing their backstories.

The Butler is a heartbreakingly beautiful story that had me completely captivated with each page I turned. I loved getting to know Liese and her twin sons Joachim and Javier and the life they lead throughout several countries. I especially loved that this author had the main characters Joachim and Olivia come from different complicated worlds but find each other just when they needed someone. Javier was the bad twin and lead a totally different life from his brother Joachim. There was some repetitive information but overall this was a great read and I look forward to reading more Danielle Steel books in the future.

The Butler was an interesting concept and DS found a way to make it unique. The story of Joachim and Olivia two people whom have suffered hardships come together and find love. There is a little twist here and there perhaps predictable but nevertheless if you are a fan of Ms Steel The Butler will hit all the notes you’ve come to find in her works. Thank you #NetGalley for the ARC all opinions are my own. #TheButler

Another great story from Danielle Steel
The Butler is such a good story about a family and how things can really fall apart.
The mother has gone through hell but survives to take care of her sons. She goes through more with one. And is proud of he other.
Great book fast paced
