I can not recommend this book enough! I read Last Girl Ghosted in one day. This thriller/suspense book is one of Lisa Unger best yet. I appreciate net gallery and selected publishers for this early copy

This was my first Lisa Unger book, but it won't be my last. I couldn't stop turning the pages (or actually swiping them because I was reading the NetGalley digital ARC copy on my phone). The book, publishing in October but available for pre-order now, is somewhat dark. Although very different, I can compare it to Gone Girl which I also enjoyed and which also featured a missing person. In this case, several missing women. It takes place in New York City, right before the COVID pandemic closed things down and refers to a Chinese virus that was starting to spread.

The main character, Wren Greenwood (not her real name), is the author of the popular Dear Birdie advice column which is also a podcast. Only her friend Jax knows her background, how, at 15, Wren's world was turned upside down after her family moved to an isolated area because her father, a war veteran, had become what some term a Doomsday Prepper. His actions culminated in a tragedy that caused Wren, born as Robin, to change her name and return to society to build a life to help others facing challenges in their lives.

When Wren hooks up with a man named Adam through Torch, an online dating site, she finds herself opening up to him and revealing her dark past. When Adam unexpectedly disappears and a detective comes to Wren's door seeking help in finding missing women who used Torch to meet a man he believed was Adam, Wren once again faces horror.

The twists and turns in this book had me on the edge of my seat. Although I liked the ending that featured additional twists, I found the p[ace a bit slow in the last part of the book after the climax. I thought each character in the book was well depicted and would highly recommend it if you're a fan of Gillian Flynn and Lisa Diaz Meyer, two dark fiction authors I admire.

This will be a great fall read! Pulls you in right from the opening pages and you won't want to put it down.
Ended was a bit off for me, though not enough to ruin the whole book.
Our main character has finally met someone that she feels like she fully open to...tell her darkest secrets to...share everything with...so she does. And then...he's gone. Ghosted. Just like that, a very normal thing in the online dating world, but odd considering how well they were getting along. What happened? What went wrong?
Slowly but surely the WHOLE story comes out.

This will be an easy book to recommend to readers who like mystery with some twists and turns.

Finding the perfect match on a dating website seems too good to be true—until it isn’t. After months of dating the perfect match, he disappears with his apartment and business evacuated and all his social media accounts cleared, along with a private detective dogging his footsteps. This dark and chilling mystery thriller will make you search and question your own steps and decisions through life.

The dangers and intrigue of online dating come to life in Last Girl Ghosted. Wren is looking for more than a hookup when she comes across Adam's profile on the online dating app, Torch. After meeting him, he seems like he may be her perfect match. This story is intriguing and filled with suspense. I like the development of each character throughout this story. At first I had trouble getting into this story because it starts as fist person, present tense and that is not my favorite POV. After reading on though, I feel that writing it like this really added to the tone of this story. I would definitely recommend this book. It was suspenseful, emotional, dark, and at times scary.

Thank you to NetGalley and Park Row Publisher for this digital ARC.

I would highly recommend Lisa Unger’s new book, Last Girl Ghosted.  It is rather dark and heavy at times but a real page turner.  It is the story of Wren who is the author of an advice column titled Dear Birdie.  Her best friend , Jax, talks her into going on a dating site where she meets Adam, whose thinks  may just be the ONE.  All seems to be going well for several months until one evening Adam stands her up.  When she tries to get in touch with him, she discovers that all his social media and phone have been disconnected and the apartment she thinks is his is just a vacation rental .  Enter Bailey Kirk, a private investigator who is looking for a missing girl named Mia who just happens to have been dating the man Wren knows as Adam just before she went missing.  As Wren continues to search for Adam and some answers, she must revisit some childhood trauma and sort through the secrets and baggage that everyone carries.  I really enjoyed Unger’s book Confessions on the 7:45 but I think I enjoyed this one even more.  Definitely a must read.  You will want to check this one out.

I really enjoyed this book and the premise of what would you do if the man you fell in love with one day suddenly ghosted you? The twisted towards the last 3/4 of the book kept me engaged and on the edge of my seat right up until the last page.

Last Girl Ghosted by Lisa Unger is the second book I have read by this author. It is a perfectly orchestrated story about singles and meeting via dating apps. Most people who are single in this day and age, have tried some form of meeting someone electronically. She decided to swipe on Adam, he wasn't the cutest and his picture was grainy but something about him intrigued her. When they met there was instant chemistry. They started dating for a few months, never mind she didn't know much about him or that he hadn't met her best friends or that she had only been to his apartment once. She was falling in love with him. This resonated with me deeply as I had experienced this a time or two myself. She finally decides to share something very personal about her past with him and to her she felt like he understood and she sort of regretted it but at the same time felt good that she told him. The next night they were supposed to meet, he wanted to ask her something. She bought a new dress and waited anxiously for him at a restaurant. He didn't show. He left her a cryptic message and then he was gone, she could not get a hold of him, he deleted all of his social media, she was ghosted. Devastation sets in, she goes through the motions and starts to find out things about him that she realized were very unstable. She discovered that others who dated him were no longer seen again. Despite the fact that she has a career of giving advice to others via self help blog and podcast, she seems to throw out all reason and try to hunt him down herself. The story was thrilling and gripping at times, but other times I wanted to smack Wren. Who in the world would intentionally put themselves in harms way after hearing dark information about someone they've only dated for a few months? Part of Wren's past is finally revealed and explains why she really isn't that sound in mind. I enjoy Lisa Unger's writing style, however, there were a few parts of the story that really did not add to it and were not needed. Points of view from the missing girls, we don't know which one is which, what led them to that point or where they ended up from their point of view. We only find out later from the retelling of other characters in the story. I do like that despite the fact that Wren is a little unstable emotionally she was able to save herself in more ways than one which will hopefully cause her to heal. Overall a thrilling read. thank you NetGalley and Harlequin for the advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

A story about emotionally damaged people who draw darkness to themselves.
What happens when you are lonely? You join an online dating site. Then you fall in love with your match only to find out he is hiding his true self and has done horrendous things. You will be lucky to get out of the relationship with your life.
This book definitely made me decide to never try online dating!!! Good story that got a little slow in the middle but picked back up fairly quickly.

A thriller....and thrilling indeed. Wren is an interesting character. Her past is buried but she is still trying to deal with the repercussions. Her best friend encourages her to get active on a dating site. She does and finally meets someone who is absolutely amazing. Falling in love was not the plan but suddenly Wren starts thinking about the future. She shares her past with this amazing man and the next day he's gone. Vanished. Will her past remain buried? Where did he go? Why does it seem as if he never existed?

Just give us the option to award half stars already! This is a solid 4.5.

While I thankfully can't relate to the world of online dating, I was nonetheless quickly engrossed in the story and genuinely found it difficult to put down once Wren, who had fallen for a guy she met through an app, visited his apartment only to have a woman answer as she attempted to buzz into the building. But that women isn't who you might suspect, and it's full-on thriller from that point forward.

The final pages turned a little too syrupy for me especially after the intensity of the book until that point, but overall I loved Last Girl Ghosted and recommended it to those in my reading circle who enjoy this genre.

I appreciate NetGalley providing the ARC.

Can a person outrun their trauma? Does that trauma make a person more vulnerable, or lonely? I don't claim to know the answers to these questions, but Last Girl Ghosted isn't afraid to speculate.
It was interesting seeing the pieces coming together and learning how the murdered women (and their killer!) were tied to Wren. The serial killer wasn't easily found but he did eventually get what was coming to him. I also loved that Wren saved herself and didn't need rescuing, she only needed the help of her friends.
The parts that didn't work for me were the chapters written in the voices of the murdered women. They didn't add any new information and seemed unnecessary. And I must admit to not really liking the ending.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy.

This book was a DNF for me at 41%. I am not sure why by the conversion from Netgalley to my kindle but the spacing was so off and words were cut off and spaced at the wrong times. I was definitely intrigued by this book but honestly could not get over the spacing and having to figure out who was talking/when. I hope to get a physical copy of this book when it is released.

Last Girl Ghosted unfolds in an expanding way. In the beginning everything felt comfortable and contained but soon the reader is trying to figure out the motivations of characters and how they are connected and what will happen next. Found this an involving suspense novel. Always enjoy this author's books.

I practically devoured Confessions on the 7:45, so I was so excited to get an advanced copy of Lisa Unger’s newest book Last Girl Ghosted. However, I have to say I was not as thrilled with this one as I was with her previous one.
The initial description of the book is what attracted my attention. Wren Greenwood (who is the main character) is convinced by her best friend to go on a dating app. After a few bad dates, she meets Adam and falls hard for him. Everything seems to be going along smoothly until Adam ghosts her leaving behind a confusing note. Wren can’t just let him go and starts searching the internet trying to find him. Turns out that this is not the first time Adam has ghosted someone. In fact, Adam is not who he appeared to be at all…but neither is Wren.
The first half of this book started out strong and was a real page turner for me. But as the author really started delving into Wren’s background story, it was almost as if the book split into another story altogether. At times I had trouble even connecting the two stories. I felt that the end of the story wrapped up a little too neatly and certain elements of it were not believable. I still think Lisa Unger is a good writer and I will read future books of hers - I just wasn’t a fan of this one.
Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free electronic version of this advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

Love this author and hits close to home referring to dating and bring ghosted. Happens so much nowadays sadly. Great book that touches on that subject.

Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an early release of this book.

Soooooooo good!!! I flew through this - you just can’t put it down. Dating in these times has to be horrible but throw in a psychopath and that makes for an entertaining tale. Lots of delicious twists. Going to put this author on my list of who to watch. Excellent mystery, great characters - no graphic violence - that keeps me away from a lot of current authors.
