Have I had this on my virtual shelf for 12 years to read? Yes. Do I kind of feel bad that it took me this long to read it? Yes and no. I think I would have liked this a little less at the time of its release but retrospectively I can see why. This book is the debut of this author, and she only wrote these three books of this series, and a couple of shorts in anthologies. She hasn't published anything (at least not under this name) since 2017. This is a YA book about Angels, and our FMC, Rayna, has been diagnosed with schizophrenia because she has seen angel wings her whole life. After her most recent trip to a psychiatric hospital, she stops taking her medication and a boy shows up in her school with wings, she thinks she's going crazy, and then kids start seeing angels with dark wings in their dreams before they commit suicide. So, then Rayna sees both the dark and the light angels and learns she's special and not really "crazy". Of course, we get the love triangle bit, but honestly not a whole lot. Rayna thinks the boys in her life are cute but there isn't a romance in this book. This is mostly her running for her life, kids dying, and her father being unsupportive and forcing her into a psychiatric hospital. The book itself is all right. Perfectly appealing to its target audience. At the time of the release Angels were peak popularity, so I can see where this series would be lost in the masses and not well received, because there are other similar books out there. It also tackles some darker themes, that though not unheard of, were a little more taboo than they are now. So, yes the book is worth the read, it is easy to read, so sitting down in one or two sessions is doable. I love the cover of this book, the only downside to reading these now is that they aren't available anymore, except through audible or paying a whole lot for the previously released books.

I requested this several years ago and I don't think it's a book for me anymore. So I will not be reviewing at this time, but if I do read it, I will update this review. Thank you for the opportunity.

Thank you for the egalley to read and give an honest review.
I wanted to like this, I really did. I had high hopes. Great summary, I saw some good stars when I scrolled through Goodreads (not reading any of the reviews because I want to come up with my own thoughts and stars). So, yes, I dove in and thought, hey, this is gonna be great.
And I love angels, I do. But I didn't like these angels. Good versus evil? Sure. But insta love and icky romance and choosing the wrong guy and so many cliches. I just could not grab on and get through it.
Superficial characters who I could not connect with. An interesting story line that didn't hit its potential. Little to no backstory (why was she locked up?). Suspension of disbelief shattered.
Just not my thing.
So I DNF'd, sorry to say.

This story had a unique plot and I enjoyed the angel lore.
Many thanks to MonthgBooks and to NetGalley for providing us with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

A well crafted and well paced read, however it was not one I was able to connect with fully. Am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to read and review this story.

I gave feedback on this years ago. It suddenly reappeared on my shelf after the addition of audiobooks. I contacted Netgalley a week ago and have heard nothing back so am getting these off my shelf this way.

This book started off strong, and I expected to love it since I've enjoyed other YA angel-centered novels. Unfortunately, it fell flat and I've delayed reviewing it for that exact reason. I found myself skimming through several parts just to keep the momentum. Not to mention the dreaded instant love.

My interests have changed since being sent this book. At this time I won't be reading or reviewing this title. Thank you.
