This was fun but completely unbelievable obviously 😅
I am looking forward to more from this family.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance copy of the ebook to review.
I read the first book by Jesse Q Sutanto and it was okay, didn't care for it. When the second one was provided for me, I decided why not, I read the first one so I should as well read the second one. However, I enjoyed the first one more than the second and probably won't be reading any more of this series.
Loved being back with the aunties! Up to shenanigan's and lots of laughs! The perfect light-hearted read.
Another hilarious story about the Aunties from Jesse Q Sutanto. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and all the fun and games. Looking forward to more.
DNF at 32% - I really loved Dial A for Aunties, but this sequel is not it for me. Dial A really did not need a sequel and this isn't good enough for me to keep spending time with it. Though I will continue to pick up from Jesse Q. Sutanto in the future.
The aunties returned!!! I loved this series so much. It was so heartwarming. Although I *think* I liked the first book more, if you liked book one, you're guaranteed to love this one as well!
This was such a funny book, I sped right through this. I did have a couple qualms with the writing at times but all in all, this was so easy to read and I'm super excited to see it on the big screen.
Late review on this super fun book. I have recommended this book widely. Thank you NetGalley for the advance ecopy!
This is such a quirky series and I love it! The aunties are truly hilarious and I couldn’t stop laughing. I love the mix of comedy and mystery with the romance! This is such a cozy book.
This is the second book of the Aunties saga. I loved the first one so I was really excited for the sequel! In this book, Meddy marries her love, Nathan, but the marriage doesn't go as expected (and what a surprise! 😅). It complemented the previous book in a fun way, getting to know a little more about Ah Guan here. However, I enjoyed the first book a lot more. If you are looking for a quick read for this summer with a high degree of entertainment, I recommend this book! I would even say that the story and the humor itself tends to be more young adult so it's appropriate for all ages! Did you know it will be adapted by Netflix? I'm very curious!
I didn't know this was possible, but the shenanigans got even *more* ridiculous in this book (compared to the first one, DIAL A FOR AUNTIES). Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this one quite as much, largely due to the ridiculity but also because I personally find ruined weddings to be a very annoying plot point - so much time and money wasted! - but I'm fully aware that's a me problem and not a book problem. :) This book was very readable and I look forward to continuing to read whatever Jesse Q. Sutanto writes next!
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for giving me access to the advanced copy of this book to read.
It was okay, but not as good or funny as Dial A For Aunties. I did enjoy the premise just didn't seem to hold my attention as much as the first book did. Was worthwhile for the most part.
While I was super excited to see that Meddy was getting a sequel, I slowly became more disappointed over the course of the bok. In the end I felt that a sequel was entirely unnecessary and the plot of Four Aunties And A Wedding might have been better served as an entirely separate book.
While I enjoy the humour and the plot I think this book suffers from Second Book Syndrome and leaves you feeling a smidge disappointed after reading A is for Auntie.
I love everything Jesse writes. I did like the first book more. Something about the absurdity in book 1 is hard to translate into book two in the same way but the aunties were still amazing. I love each of them and all of the food descriptions make me so hungry!!
The characters from Dial A for Aunties are back with more laughs in the second novel in the series! Meddy's family works in the wedding business, but now she is planning her own wedding with Nathan. Meddy hires a different family bridal company to plan and manage her big day, but she quickly realizes they are part of the mafia, and Meddy's big day is an opportunity for them to hide their dirty business work. Meddy's family intervenes to prevent the big day from getting ruined, and it's craziness!
I definitely enjoyed the first novel in this series a lot more- I felt like this novel felt way too far from reality, but you have to just enjoy being along for the crazy ride.
Thank you so much @BerkleyPub & @NetGalley for giving me this eARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review (Release Date | 29 March 2022)
SYNOPSIS | Meddy & Nathan are getting married and she wants her mother & aunts to sit back and enjoy the wedding instead of working it so she hires a family business to handle all aspects of the planning & execution. The only problem is that she overhears her photographer talking about a planned hit on one of her wedding guests.
WHAT I LIKED:
- the story is pure chaos
- Oxford as a setting (I love overly British backdrops)
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:
- everything I loved about Dial A for Aunties was kind of ruined here & it sort of just lost its charm
- the aunties began to feel like caricatures instead of the meddling but ultimately loving family that I had grown to enjoy
- I wanted Nathan to play a bigger part in this story
- I am willing to suspend my disbelief to enjoy a story, but this was just absurd
- ultimately I think this suffers from being a second book in a series
I wish I could say I liked this one as much as Dial A for Aunties but this one just did not work for me. The whole concept of the mafia plot and the wedding was way over the top for me and just not my taste. I thought a lot of the charm of the first one was attempted to be duplicated here and it was just repetitive rather than fresh.
As much as I LOVED the first Aunties book (and I really, really did), this one was a DNF for me. It lacked the things that made the first one so magical
Four Aunties and a Wedding is a fun follow up to Sutanto's first book, Dial A for Aunties. Once again, Meddy finds herself in an impossible situation created by her aunts - but where she has to rely on them to get her out of it. There were times when I got annoyed at Meddy for not pushing back harder against Staphanie and her gang, or for not just telling Nathan the truth, but overall this was an enjoyable read.
