Thank you so much to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for my copy of The Younger Wife by Sally Hepworth in exchange for an honest review. It publishes April 5, 2022.
Once again, Sally blows it out of the park! I just loved the way that she basically sprinkled bread crumbs the whole time, making me think I got something figured out, then revealing what I just figured out, it kept me on my toes, guessing the entire time! I felt very unsettled, and uneasy in the best possible way. This one was as masterful as her previous books, and will absolutely stick with me for a long time.
If you enjoy thrillers, definitely pick this one up and get ready to just ignore everything else, because you won't want to put this down!

Oo hello hello mystery mystery. Thank ya NetGalley for this! So, we have three young female POVs in this story; the two sisters and the woman who is in the title, “the younger wife”. We are all trying to figure out what happened to each and everyone of them, past and present. Let’s face it, our past is who makes us who we are today, even the skeletons in our closet molds us without anyone knowing. Maybe even ourselves not knowing. That is what is happening in this book. Discovering who they are truly as well as finding out if Stephen, the father and groom, is who he says he truly is. Gotta read that to find out, also to discover who the other POV is… that’s right. A mysterious POV, which I LOVE to have. I’ll give it a 4/5 because I loved the developments and the story. Not a 5 because I wasn’t blown away by it all as a whole. Would recommend though!

Lots of skeletons in the closets here! All really interesting/believable characters. Good portrayal of physical abuse and it’s effects on families. I like how the three gals (the younger wife and her soon to be step daughters) learned to get along and really like each other.

So excited to receive an arc of Sally Hepworth’s latest and it did not disappoint. Loved the storyline, loved the characters and loved the way this book was written. Story is Told from several perspectives, totally kept my interest and kept me guessing what was true and what was imagined. Loved!
Thank you to netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

I would say this was a page turner because I didn’t want to put it down, and I looked forward to picking it up. It isn’t a thriller, but more domestic suspense which is right up my alley! I loved both sisters, was mystified by Pam, and while I liked Heather, I became equally as confused as her. Was it all in her head? Who was the villain? Was there even a villain??? My brain is definitely scrambled after that ending! Sally Hepworth has yet to disappoint. Fabulous read! Thank you so much to St. Martins Press and Netgalley for this ARC!

Do you ever really, truly ever know someone? Even if you've known them your entire life? We can never be sure and in this novel Hepworth drives this point home. All of our main characters have secrets and as a wedding draws nearer, the threads start to become unraveled on the web of lies they've created. But what's a lie and what's a truth?
Heather has no family; or does she? Why do things often disappear when Tully is around? Rachel might be a lesbian; otherwise, why did she stop dating at 16? Was Pamela's dementia caused by her husband's beatings? Is Stephen a brilliant surgeon and a brilliant liar? And just who is Fiona and how is she involved in their lives?
Doubt is an insidious thing that makes even the most stalwart believer question what they think they know. And the truth is often based on a person's perception, interpretation, and point of view. What is real? Hepworth leads the reader down a twisty road of dead ends, red herrings, and revelations.
A truly suspenseful and masterful novel that will make you question what you think you know about these characters.

Sally Hepworth has done it again! Creating well developed, likeable characters (even if they all have a few quirky traits)! You may think you have them all figured out, but then new information emerges that brings doubt to your mind. Twists and turns will keep you guessing, but the ending is a shocker.

Pretty good, well written, and there was a surprise twist at the end but I kind of expected it.

I have read several of Sally Hepworth’s books and was excited to read her latest. The Younger Wife presented three female main characters who although connected by one male character were very different personalities. Each had their own separate issues. I liked the way their individual stories were told but in the end they all came together to protect one another. The book began at a wedding with a startling event and followed these women through the previous year to explain why this event happened. This book was a quick read with a twist at the end. I enjoyed it and couldn’t wait to see the mystery solved.

After reading The Good Sister I knew I desperately wanted to read The Younger Wife by Sally Hepworth! Oh my gosh I absolutely devoured this book and want more from this author! Stephen and his new younger girlfriend Heather are meeting Stephen’s two daughters for the first time. Tully didn’t fancy Heather and Rachel was much nicer about the meeting. Tully and her husband the lawyer had two boys and Rachel had swore off of dating. Heather the new girlfriend was an interior designer and she was working on Stephen and Pam’s house when she became involved with Stephen. At the first meeting Stephen (Dad) announces they are getting married which throws Tully in a tailspin and Rachel just kept baking and eating. Stephen was still married to their mom Pam but she was in a care facility for Alzheimer’s. Heather had grown up in an abusive household and was in a poor situation so she seen Stephen has a way out or did she? Oh, and when Rachel hires her new delivery person she believes is a girl turns out Darcy is a hunky man! And, one of the scenes at the restaurant where Rachel orders the food was hilarious. I love the twists and turns in this book you are never sure how this is going to end. The suspense about the money in the hot water bottle was getting to me. Plus Tully’s disease and Rachel’s difficulties. Let’s just say you really don’t know what is the truth in this book! Rush out and pick this book up when it becomes available.
P.S. I would give this book 10 stars if I could!
I wanted to say a big Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Sally Hepworth has done it again! If you haven't read one of her amazing novels yet, you must. She is brilliant!
In The Younger Wife, Rachel and Tully's father, Stephen, is getting married again. This is especially troubling for two reasons. First, their mother is still alive and struggling with Alzheimers. Second, his new fiance is their age. As the plot unfolds, we learn the new nuptials are only part of the issue. Hepworth creates such dysfunctional characters in this novel that you cannot help but be drawn to them. She leaves you guessing to the very end.
I would highly recommend all of Hepworth's books including The Younger Wife. Thank you NetGalley for an arc of this excellent book.

Thank you Sally Hepworth. I was floundering in a reading slump…and along came your wonderful new book. I became friends with your characters. The sisters who learned to accept each other and confide in each other. The father who…it turns out…no one really understands. And the mother with dementia who has secrets of her own. Anyone who picks up this book will find it hard to put down.
Every character comes to life and each one of them has their own secret that is revealed in the most clever way by this talented author. A most delightful escape …..highly recommend.

I was expecting the usual family drama when the well-respected heart surgeon is divorcing his beloved wife with dementia in order to marry the younger woman who worked with him and his wife on designing a new home. As the reader learns of the traumatic dysfunction of each character, only the surgeon seems to be unfettered. Aha!, The twists and turns keep the reader guessing about what really happens in the beginning. A mystery with a final twist, leaving the reader to contemplate who did what.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. This is my 3rd Sally Hepworth book. I’d say it was on par with Mother in Law but not as good as The Good Sister.
I’m not sure how I felt about the ambiguity of the ending. I prefer a good cut and dry ending. I also wouldn’t call this a gripping thriller. It was a unique story for sure and I appreciate the murder mystery aspect.
4/5

Sally Hepworth does it again. The Younger Wife is full of the sort of twists we expect from this author who has become a domestic thriller pro!

Oh my! The mind sure can play tricks on you that after a while, you don’t know what to believe. So goes this new thriller by Sally Hepworth, The Younger Wife with many twists and turns that you will be quite surprised with the ending. No spoilers here.
Tully and Rachel’s dad is getting married to a much younger woman. Problem is that he is already married to Pam whom they just put into a nursing home because she has advanced early onset dementia. Dad Stephen, an esteemed heart surgeon with the reputation of being an honorable family man with the perfect family falls in love with a much younger woman, Heather, an interior designer, much to his surprise. The girls are not sure if she is just after Stephen for his money. Stephen just wants everyone to get along and be one big happy family; both his daughters, his new love, and his ex-wife Pam. But the family dynamics is complicated and there are past secrets that threaten to destroy them all. But does Stephen have a secret as well that makes all the women in his family distrust him? And why did he insist that his ex-wife attend his wedding because he wanted her to be happy for him? Something terribly goes wrong at the wedding when all the suspicions come to a head. What went wrong in this fairytale?
I’ve always enjoyed all that Sally Hepworth has written and this did not disappoint. She always helps the reader through the story with plentiful clues and then comes up with the surprise endings. This one will keep you guessing until the end and even after. Don’t miss it!
Many thanks to #netgalley #sallyhepworth #theyoungerwife #st.martinspress for the opportunity to read and review this book.

A huge thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of Younger Wife. I found this book so hard to put down. Sally Hepworth is a new author to me but she has caught my attention and will be looking into other books by her. I love how this story unfolds, almost like an artichoke with so many layers and then you get to the sticky prickly stuff and then the heart. I loved how I was sure I knew where this was going and then it would turn in another direction. It's hard for me to say much without giving away but I will say you should enjoy the ride. I know I did.

Okay wow! I actually really enjoyed this. Didn’t expect all the twists this book had to offer. Lovely read.

Sally Hepworth has quickly became one of my favorite authors. Her books pull me in from the first chapter and make me want to keep reading. This book wasn’t any different. However, I struggled with the ending. I was expecting a big twist or at least a little more closure. Instead, it left me wanting more.

I'm not sure how I missed her but I must admit that I was not familiar with author Sally Hepworth. I intend to remedy that right now. When a man decides to divorce his wife, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, in order to marry a woman close in age to his daughters, of course warning bells go off in a reader's head. He can't be as perfect as he seems, and in fact, despite that introduction, he truly appears to be a seriously good man. But why do both daughters seem not quite right, why does he bring the young fiancé to visit he current wife, each chapter brings another question. Ms. Hepworth is a master at manipulating us and with each turn "The Younger Wife," has the reader doubting our own judgements, in my case, to the very end. One of those you read in one sitting because you simply have to know.
