This is such a unique premise for a book. It immediately reminded me of the humor and creativity of The Good Place. Rachel Gibson writes in a very strong, witty voice, which helps keeps the (understandably serious) subject matter from feeling too heavy. At times I had trouble discerning if the story was supposed to be satirical or not. But overall, this was an interesting read that I think will capture many readers' imaginations.

I was a big fan of Drop Dead Diva so I thought this book would be right up my alley. Unfortunately I was wrong. I found the pace too slow and the characters unlikeable. There was not much romance at all. I thank NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC.

"Drop Dead Gorgeous" by Rachel Gibson is a delightful and entertaining romantic comedy that will leave readers with a smile on their face. Gibson's witty writing style and engaging storytelling make for a fun and lighthearted read. The charming characters, humorous banter, and sizzling chemistry between the protagonists make this book a perfect choice for fans of contemporary romance.

So cute! Would recommend this to anyone!

The main character was someone I connected with right away and it was such a funny read. Even though it’s about a car crash and dying too young it’s not sad or harps on that point!

This one was a DNF for me after a few chapters. It was just to slowwww for me and I wasn't invested in the story or characters. I'm sure it's for some readers, but I wasn't one of them.

This storyline has tremendous potential, but I wasn't satisfied with this book. I DNFed a couple chapters in, coz I wasnt liking it.

I am not against religious people, but the repetitive mentions got on my nerves. Honestly, it wasnt easy to wrap my head around the names and everything else in the book, making this book hard to read.

I received a complementary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This book was slooooowwwww for me. I really needed something to move at a bit of a faster pace and this one unfortunately never really picked up for me.

On her way to what will probably be a disappointing Tindr date, Brittany Lynn Snider gets into a car crash that sends her into purgatory called the Limbo Lounge. She believes she is stuck there until a shimmering portal opens for her but the lounge's bully, Edie, takes her portal before she can go through to the other side. Brittany now has a second chance at life, but in Edie's body. Through Edie, Brittany learns that being conventionally beautiful and rich does not make you happy. Brittany even plans to go back to her life in Texas but will her plans go the way she wants or will she make it to heaven like she's supposed to?

One of my wheelhouses is authors who paint a picture of heaven and the in-between. I thought that Gibson made an interesting case for what could be after we die. I thought this was going to be one of those books where the fat girl finally gets to be thin but luckily it was not that. I did think that the ending felt rushed.

This was wild and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I think I'll have to re-read it to really figure it out...

There’s a pretty good chance that, somewhere during your entertainment journey, you’ve experienced the story of a soul in limbo, fighting to make its way into The Light. But in Drop Dead Gorgeous by Rachel Gibson, a soul in limbo has some tough decisions to make when she loses her chance to go into The Light.

Drop Dead Gorgeous mainly follows the life, spirit-life, almost death, and second life of Brittany Lynn Snider (turned Edie). Let’s unpack that:
Brittany Lynn Snider is a born and raised Texan. Edie is a extremely rich socialite from Michigan. After a car accident, Brittany is thrust into the spirit realm, awaiting her fate in the limbo lounge where she meets Edie, the resident bully who is intent on taking Brittany’s path to heaven - and she succeeds! Brittany is then thrust into Edie’s body and life and given a second chance at life. And so begins her journey of discovering exactly who is Brittany Lynn Snider? Chapters are intermittently split with interludes giving us a glimpse at what happens to the real Edie after she steals Brittany’s path to heaven.

I liked this book more than I thought it would. Originally, I wasn’t sure if this was going to be my vibe - it isn’t normally what I gravitate towards but I liked the cover so much I gave it a try. I’m glad I did! This was a nice, at times funny story - nothing too crazy or profound but I don’t feel like it was a waste of time.

*thank you NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the ARC*

This was a fun Freaky Friday style book about a socialite and....the opposite of a socialite. Lots of social commentary and witty dialogue/monologues. This was really enjoyable!

I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.

I thought I would like this book based on the blurb but his book wasn't for me. The plot was very slow. I did not like any of the characters. I felt the story wasn't really moving along.

The plot takes a while to develop and then it really doesn't go anywhere. There's little to no romance besides the heroine falling into a bed with the supposed hero. Few conversations between them and there's not even one I love you exchanged. I guess they had a HEA because this is supposedly a romance novel. The heroine is trying to find her way and she's confused then the book ends. Seriously?!!?? I don't get it - was there a book contract so the publisher pushed this out?? Don't waste your money! This is disappointment #3 in a row from this author, in my opinion.

Sometimes you get distracted by an adorable pink cover and you think a book is going to be about something light and fun. But there’s an old adage that goes “don’t judge a book by its cover”- it’s for good reason! I also hoped it was going to be food because I absolutely love the movie from the 90s with the same title.

But sometimes you are dead wrong! Drop Dead Gorgeous was a story similar to Freaky Friday where two women die at the same time and change lives in the afterlife. Brittany Lynn crashes her mom’s minivan on the way to a date and she ends up in the “Limbo Lounge” were patients await their fate while watching reruns of 7th Heaven. When it’s finally Brittany’s turn, she’s ushered towards heaven, but a bratty socialite from Michigan steals her spot. She is forced to live her life as Edie, this stuck up, rich woman who lives in Grosse Pointe, Michigan.

It’s a fish out of water situation where our down home Texas girl, Brittany is forced to move in with snooty Edie’s family and pretend to be someone she’s not. There’s also a lot of fat shaming which I did not like or need at all and there’s also a healthy dose of religion which I also wasn’t fond of. I do understand it’s a book that involves the afterlife, so some heaven talk was tolerated.

I do like that Edie is forced to spend her part of the book working a thankless job welcoming other people to their fate in the Limbo Lounge. Mean girl got what she deserved.

Thank you to @gallerybooks for my gifted ebook.

Well, it was certainly a book and definitely told a story.

Brittany Lynn Snider has died and that is as much of a synopsis I wish to write about this book. I don’t want to use any more brain power thinking about it tbh. Was I entertained? Eh. Maybe? I was mostly curious where it would go, which was… nowhere. It went nowhere.

This hilarious, heartwarming tale explores navigating life in different socioeconomic spheres and always wanting a little bit more than we have. It's a funny and entertaining read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review, all thoughts are my own. This book was a nice change for mixing it up from the usual chick-lit - woman's fiction. This was very entertaining and funny! Brittany is in an unfortunate accident going to meet a guy on tinder and is sent to heaven to switch bodies with a mean girl from Detroit. While is seemed like a sad premise - the story was actually funny and entertaining. Ms. Gibson does not disappoint!
