What a welcome return to Costello and Anderson – as good as ever. Ramsay never disappoints.

Thank you to the author, publishers and NetGalley for providing an ARC via my Kindle in return for an honest review.

This is the first in this series of books I e read so at times I felt I was missing out because of referenced stuff from previous books. Having said that it did not dissapoint. And it's only made me what to read the series from the start. Having said that the story was stróng with good relatable characters. The story was edge of your seat and the ending an absolute triumph. Loved it!

The Silent Conversation starts off in such a way that I felt sort of jumbled up trying to sort out what was going on. A very clever device that made me realize at the end how it must feel to try to sort out a mystery with only a few clues. Have patience and wait out the cast of characters. In the end, the pieces do fall together, not at all like I had supposed early on in the book. Overall, a very good read.

There's a dead police officer in Maltman Green. Or is there? There's an eyewitness to the murder. Or maybe not.

There's also a four year old boy who's been missing for four years. But his DNA turns up at the scene.

Life is never straightforward for Anderson and Costello....

Another complicated set of circumstances for the odd couple to unravel

A really complicated web of cases with far too many characters makes this a difficult book to keep track of and it doesn't feel like a full conclusion is reached.
I've read and enjoyed all of this author's previous books but this one just didn't do it for me unfortunately. I can't decide if it's missing something or trying too hard but I hope to see a return to form with the next instalment.

Thank you Netgalley and Canongate;/Severn House for the eARC.
Caro Ramsay has just gone to the top of my female authors list, what a book, what a series!
Anderson and Costello catch the case of a young woman, dead in a. luxurious gated community. Was she murdered? They won't know till the autopsy. But the disappearance of a three-year old little boy five years ago may have something to do with it. There are so many twists and turns, it takes quite a while before things finally become clear.
Costello is even more difficult than usual; there are times when Anderson visualizes slapping her - that made me chuckle. But I love her, she's quite the character. Anderson tries to fit in looking after his beloved little Moses and his dog;e hes' such a good man, trying his best for his family while involved in the complications of this mystery, which takes up so much of his and the team's time.
Anderson and Costello have become my favorite team, they feel like friends to me. The Glasgow setting is great too. I think this series is brilliant and just gets better and better
Highly recommended, 5+++
