I adore this series a great deal, but Clay and Abby are my favorites because their connection is so strong and immediate. These two were destined to be together; they just weren't aware of it yet. What was only intended to last one night became much more than expected. From page 1, you are totally engrossed in their tale, and you just know you won't be able to put it down until you've finished. This novel is the total package of heat, desire, romance, and suspense. had me completely emotional. It was flawless. Abby and Clay were ideal. I can't wait for the subsequent novel because the conclusion left my mouth gaping.

I really wanted to love this one, especially with reading the little blurb but it just wasn’t my favorite. I did finish reading it

The caption sounded interesting but the story did not live up to it. There wasn’t anything in particular that felt off to me, but it just kind of fell flat.

Wonderfully written, this is the first time that I have read anything by Morgan James, but I have already ordered the rest of this series.

Abby and Clay have a one-night stand with neither realizing that Clay is friends with and just started a job with Abby's brother. Clay is not yet ready to give up on the idea of something more and Abby is in danger when secrets from her past start falling away.

This is definitely a contemporary romance for those that enjoy an alpha male type. Clay raises some red flags in his behavior when pursuing a relationship with Abby, which I don't think many real-life women would tolerate. Decent smut though.

This was my first Morgan James read and I liked it enough to add the author's other titles to my to-read list.

This is the 5th book in the Quentin Security series. I want to say I haven’t read the previous books in the series, but this seemed to be good to read as a stand-alone. After a night Abby wanted to be for her, with no names basically and just a good bye, she is stunned to see her one night stand Clay that Monday as her new co worker. Oh… she’s also his friends baby sister to add more to this. The mystery in this plot is a secret within the family and they must find the killer. I did enjoy this book. Overall it was a good page turner. I am going to go back and look for the rest of the series.

I received this ARC through #netgalley and I am voluntarily reviewing this book

This is a romantic mystery of which I liked the mystery better than the romance. But even with the resolution of the mystery, I felt there were story threads left unfinished.
I had a difficult time liking the MC’s. Abby seemed very insecure in a romantic relationship even though I liked her quirk and sassy conversations with Clay. I was also disappointed that the author didn’t follow up on Abby’s interest in law. While I like a strong alpha male, Clay breaking into Abby’s house – twice – in order to talk to her was too stalkerish for me. I would have liked more story about Clay and how he copes with his dyslexia. I am also not clear how the title fits the story.

I was not a fan of this book, but not because it wasn't written well. The main love interest is simply not appealing to me. The sex scenes were not my style. There was too much mention of teen suicide, rape, molestation, etc.
The writer does a really great job with the suspense, I just wished there were more of it.
I did not leave a review in other places, because I do not want it to bring the author's ratings down whenever I do not think it is the book that is the problem, but me.
Thank you for the chance. I did enjoy reading outside of my comfort zone.

Description:

Some secrets refuse to stay buried…

Abby

I did all the things a good girl is supposed to do: I went to college, got a degree, even came home to help my guardian, Violet. But just once I wanted something for me. Specifically, the handsome stranger sitting across from me at the bar. I spent one night with the man of my dreams, and the next morning we parted ways forever… or so I thought. When I show up at work on Monday, I discover my mystery man is my new coworker—and my brother’s best friend. Suddenly my quiet, sedate life just got a whole lot more complicated.

Clay

She’s quirky. A little crazy. And she never stops talking. So why can’t I get the sexy brunette off my mind? One night with Abby wasn’t enough. She might be my friend’s baby sister, but she’s the only woman I’ve ever wanted. When she stumbles across a decades-old secret tied to her family’s past, Abby stirs up a hornets’ nest of trouble. But someone has a lot to lose if the truth surfaces, and I’ll do everything in my power to keep her safe before the killer silences her—permanently.

My opinion:

The book was just amazing!!!

The writing style was fluid and read well. From page 1, you were part of this story and could dive wonderfully into the world of Clay and Abby.

I took the two characters into my heart as well. Both you could just like, because they were totally sympathetic to me from the beginning. I love the little bit crazy, bright and friendly nature of Abby. Even though she talks a lot, it's not boring at all and it's fun to listen to her. I have the feeling that she lives her life as it comes. Everyone has their doubts, but she doesn't let them get her down. What do you think I should say to Clay? He is just a great person. I like his "bad boy" side, but it doesn't predominate with him. He's also a lot of fun to watch as he admires Abby and looks up to her. He's funny and together they have a lot of fun throughout the book. But I don't want to reveal more about them, because it's best to get to know them yourself. Clay and Abby deserve it!

I also liked the plot itself extremely well. It was never boring and I was really captivated by the story. Sometimes I couldn't put the book down, simply because I was so caught up in the story. It became very suspenseful in places, but again, in some places, just a feel-good book. I would say that the book has a good balance between suspense and feel-good, so that you can just like the book...

So much for my opinion. So I can really only recommend this book to everyone. It's really fun to dive into the world of the two....

I thought that this was an excellent story!

The characters were strong and really well developed with some great interaction between them – I really enjoyed getting to know them as the book progressed and I flew through the pages.

It was very well written and it had a great flow to it – I found it to be a really addictive read and a book that I did not want to put down.

It was a full on, sexy, romantic and action packed read!

It is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!

I DNF'ed this book after reading the first few chapters. Starting a book by a sex scene is always pretty daring in my opinion, as you don't have the context of any kind of relationship between the MC's or - in this instance - an already built up connection with one of the MC's to rely upon. I don't know Abby nor Clay, so their behavior is quite puzzling and quite honestly a bit disturbing. Don't get me wrong, I like a bit of BDSM or rough sex, but I feel like consent is so important in these kinds of situations, even (or especially) in books. Telling her to shut up, criticizing her ("you talk too much") and then slapping her in the face? Major red flag and a no go for me. I stopped reading because I felt like I was reading a sex scene without consent, as Abby didn't seem to really enjoy herself, which makes it abuse and I'm not into that.

Today, I wanted to continue reading, but since I stopped reading yesterday evening I've felt a lot of resistance within myself to open the book. So, I started reading a few reviews to see if it would get better and from what I read I wasn't convinced. So, I'm going to honor my feelings and DNF it. I'd rather not rate the book, as I've only read the first few chapters. But since I have to give it a rating on NetGalley, unfortunately, based on what I've read it's a 1 star rating from me.

ARC received for review

This is book five, and I haven't read the first four. It is a stand alone but things happen at the same time as previous books...which I now want to read.

Clay was a one night stand who turns out to be a co-worker and her brother's friend. Abby is a little quirky and inadvertently stirs up an old family secrets and danger ensues. They get their HEA after a fist fight.

***3 Stars***

So, I totally waffled over how I felt about this book.

There were things I liked, things I didn’t, things I wished there were more of aka delved deeper/had more resolution ~ even a tenuous one. And in the end, I can’t deny that this was an enjoyable read overall, and as with anything, I know some will love it more than others.

So, first off. Abby and Clay. I honestly liked them. Abby is sassy, sweet and quite determined when she wants to be. Clay is focused, protective and can be sweet when necessary. Their chemistry is off the charts ~ not gonna lie ~ and I’m all for insta, but I needed more when it came to them together. The push/pull gave me whiplash ~ especially when there was no true discussion after the push to make the pull work for me. I can see them being together for the long haul, but I still needed more on a deeper level.

There is a stalkerish vibe in this one and while I know IRL that stuff don’t fly, I cannot actually have an issue with it here since I’ve read and enjoyed books with a bigger and crazier stalker element than this one had. So, if it’s a trigger or not your thing...then reader beware.

As for the big secret. I’ll admit that it was interesting and I was right there with the characters trying to figure it out, but even though it does get revealed, I feel like there was no true resolution to it. It just ended, at least for me. I would have liked a little more follow up. But, I also felt that way about the issues that Clay and Abby were dealing with separately, especially Clay’s. I know that both can be worked through in future books ~ especially since both Con and Cole still have their HEA’s coming up, but a little more would have been nice.

This is my first read by the author, and though I did have issues, it was still a good read. The writing was engaging, the pace was good and I will be looking into reading more of this authors work. Also, this can be read as a stand-alone as there are just a few mentions of previous couples situations but nothing too intricate.

Really easy and quick read for me. The characters were great and loved the interactions. Adored Clay and Abby. Definitely read the other books in the series

This was a cute read! It is a part of a series but this book can be read as a standalone. This book was super sweet. At first I didn’t like the instant love aspect but as I read further, I began to enjoy the plot and appreciate the relationship between Clay and Abby. Clay was giving me red flags at the beginning but towards the end o felt he really earned Abby’s love and trust. This book was sweet and enjoyable.

A beautiful woman meets a sexy, brooding man in a bar. She invites him back to her hotel room and a night of steamy, passionate sex ensues. They never expected to meet each other again, let alone be stuck working together!

So, this is your typical hot, steamy, "forbidden" romance story. Unfortunately, I feel this type of story has been hashed out too many times. That's to say girl falls for big brother's best friend. He's emotionally unavailable, seriously arrogant and an alpha male... which is supposed to be sexy and endearing? Clay's attitude is borderline controlling... I get that kind of thing in the bedroom can be a turn on, but in everyday life? Seriously no! It got on my nerves more than anything else ! I mean who breaks into your girlfriend / love interests house ?! I mean, if a woman isn't giving you the time of day, let sleeping dogs lie...

The character development is minimal for both protagonists. Neither seemed to have any real goal or interests. For Abby, she talked about big dreams, but then simply settled for the cards she was handed ... the only person who had some wise words was her brother who tried to talk to her about her dreams before her guardian's dementia got too bad. But her guardian went into assisted living of her own accord, freeing up the protagonist to pursue her dreams, but they are never mentioned again... Clay had no goal in life at all, except maybe win Abby's affection but it seemed more like an unhealthy obsession than true feelings of love.

The author tries to broach some difficult subjects (child abuse, suicide), but it is done without any real conviction. I don't believe these subjects should be handled so lightly.

For me personally, this book had way too many romance clichés, for example, love interests meet by chance but end up working together, supposedly can't go out with each other over a silly misunderstanding, she doesn't want her brother finding out but he does anyway before she gets time to tell him personally... I could go on.

If you like arrogant alpha males and steamy sex scenes then this is your book!

This was a nice read. I liked Abby but Clay took a while to warm up too. There we’re times I didn’t much care for his attitude or his personality.

This was the first book I read in this series, and I didn’t feel out of touch or like I had missed anything by starting with the fifth instalment. Although this was a quick, easy read, I was a little disappointed by this book. The chemistry between Abby and Clay felt quite rushed to me. There was a lot of repetitive inner monologue going on for both characters — they expressed the same point multiple times in great detail, it became exhausting. I’m not quite sure what the title has to do with the book though. It never really connected to the story at any point. Overall it was okay, but unfortunately wasn’t for me!
