Last Seen Alone introduces you to Leigh Larson, attorney to those victim's of abuse from stalkers and online abuse. She is focused on her career and nothing is going to get in her way, even some cop investigating a homicide case. Brandon Reynolds is looking for leads on a case finding their victim, Vanessa, who just happens to have hired Leigh shortly before disappearing. Can Leigh and Brandon work together to solve what has happened to Vanessa. Is there any chance they will find her alive? Or is it too late?

Leigh and Brandon meet when Brandon questions Leigh after finding Vanessa's car on the side of the road abandoned. With no leads on who saw Vanessa last, Brandon is left grasping at straws trying to string together a theory. Leigh, recently hired by Vanessa after one meeting, wants to be a part of this case. As the story progresses, Leigh and Brandon work together, much to both of their demise. As they start to trust in each other, personal feelings and tensions grow and bring them together.

I really enjoyed the characters and how they all interacted with each other. The one thing that didn't sit well with me was how quickly romantic relationships seemed to form on top of all of the stress of looking for a missing women. Although after some of the tough situations, it would be nice to have someone to be with you, a near stranger wouldn't be the first person I'd go to. I loved how to story all tied together in the end. It had a couple of twist in the story to keep the reader engaged.

Vanessa Adams has gone missing. Her car abandoned along side the road along with her cell phone and purse leads to the authories being called in to do some investigating. Brandon Reynolds and his partner Antonio are the detectives brought on the scene. They find blood while searching the vehicle for clues and assume the worst. Leigh Larson is an attorney. She deals with victims of harassment, online abuse and sex extortion. Brandon is brought to Leigh after locating her business card in Vanessa's abandoned vehicle. Why would Vanessa need Leigh as her attorney? Despite Brandon's request that Leigh leave the detective work to the professionals, she starts questioning friends and family, determined to figure out what happened to her client. The duo think they've made some headway narrowing it down to two suspects, but Leigh is suddenly handed the mother load of information and forced to keep it from Brandon. The clock is ticking and the heat of passion is rising as Brandon and Leigh try to find out once and for all what happened to Vanessa. Can this duo get to the bottom of everything before someone else gets hurt?

The narrator did a decent job at reading the story putting lots of energy behind the characters, but it did seem a bit forced with the male characters. Though it was a good book, it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. It had more of a romance vibe than a thriller/mystery. It still had some twists in it and held my attention through the entire book. I rate this ⭐ ⭐⭐⭐.

Loved every moment of this one! Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this one via audio. The narrator was even spectacular. Normally I don't rave about the narration just because different people read differently so you have to look past that but I have to say this one was probably the best so far. Like I said before I normally don't pick up a mystery but I have gotten in the mood here recently. Highly recommend!

Last Seen Alone by Laura Griffin is a standalone mystery set in Austin, TX (& surrounding areas). This was so good that I hope it becomes a series!

Let me start by saying that I could not stop reading (listening to) this book! I finished it in one day because it was so captivating! The narration by Cynthia Farrell was incredible! She was engaging and added a vibrancy to this audiobook!

The story was incredible! I loved the characters and the character development! I found Leigh and Brandon to be wonderful and I could not get enough of their stories. I loved how this included perspectives from an attorney and a homicide detective. I enjoyed the mystery and seeing how everything unfolded!

Last Seen Alone by Laura Griffin and Narrated by Cynthia Farrell is so good! There is action right from the beginning that keeps you listening intently. A woman goes missing and homicide detective Brandon Reynolds, plus his partner are tasked with finding out if there is foul play. Blood specks are found and her car is abandoned with the door open. The only clue is a business card for Leigh Larson. Attorney at law. When Brandon meets with Leigh he is torn between thinking she is lying and being attracted to her.
Leigh is a hard-driving attorney who's clientele are women who have been victimized by revenge porn or stalking. She isn't sure yet to what extent the missing woman was needing her she only met her once but she surly can't tell the detective anything. However, she is definitely attracted to him even if she's not ready to trust any man.
She has a habit of involving herself in finding answers for herself even when it puts her the target.
I enjoyed this audio version of the book. I like Laura Griffin's style of writing and I liked the characters a lot. I think Cynthia Farrell did an excellent job reading the book. It' is a good mystery with budding romance that endeavors you to the characters. I'd like to read more of Laura Griffin's books.

As this is a review of an audio book, I've just got to say I'm not a fan of Cynthia Farrell as a narrator. She reads the book rather stiltedly, but her character voices are great. As I settled in with this narrator, the experience got better. The plot itself is vintage Laura Griffin and I loved it. She weaves the very timely issue of sexual harassment and revenge porn into a mystery that details just what the consequences of those crimes can be.

Leigh Larson is a self proclaimed workaholic and she really cares about her clients and making her law practice a success. The cases she takes are victims and she does her very best to make the perps pay and pay a lot. Of course, these cases don't pay all the bills and when a woman comes to her with a fairly routine case, that wasn't unusual. When a hot and determined cop comes to her with questions about what Vanessa Adams needed her services for, Leigh couldn't recall the case or the woman. It turns out, this case was far from routine.

When Austin homicide detective Brandon Reynolds is called out in the middle of the night, it is never a good thing. The abandoned, blood stained car on a country road said to him that nothing good had happened here. He was right. One clue about the missing car owner, Vanessa Adams, was the business card for Attorney Leigh Larson. Brandon is not a fan of attorneys, but the high energy and drop dead gorgeous attorney he meets, and is instantly attracted to, may change his mind.

With Vanessa missing, all Brandon can do is reconstruct her recent past and the contact with Leigh is the only clue he has. Leigh is determined to find out what happened to Vanessa and that puts her squarely in Brandon's path and in his case. A case that is not at all as it appears and takes them on a path of misleading evidence and twisted turns.

Last Seen Alone tells the story of Leigh, a feminist lawyer, and her new love interest, Brandon. Brandon and Leigh's lives cross paths when they are both involved in a case of a missing women, Vanessa. Vanessa hired Leigh to help her with some real estate issues, but then disappears. Brandon meets Leigh while investigating the disappearance. Sparks immediately fly between Leigh and Brandon, The pair work to solve the mystery, sometimes separate and sometimes together.

This book was a little different than what I usually read. It was a little heavier in the "romance" department than what I'm used to, but that didn't turn out to be a bad thing. This book, at it's core, is a police procedural, with a lot of romance mixed in. There were a few twists, that I really enjoyed (and was not expecting) and overall, really enjoyed reading this book. This is my first by Laura Griffin, but it will not be the last that I read of hers.

I enjoyed the narrator, as well, but often felt she was trying too hard to do the male voices. They sounded good, but often unnatural.

The book starts with a bang!
A highly suspenseful read with gripping pages.
The characters are believable and the suspense is engaging. The supporting characters were just as interesting as the main characters.
She writes fantastic people, unbelievable suspense and creates a world I can so become immersed in... Before I know it I'm half way through the book..
Very suspenseful with a good romance. Characters were well developed and maintained a strong dialogue throughout. Very strong-willed and tough heroine.
The narrator was on point and very good and easy to listen to!
I have enjoyed every book written by this author.

I enjoyed Leigh’s back story and how she came about what she does for a living and how she got wrapped up with Vanessa. The narration was great and kept me entertained and engaged.

Perfect mix of suspense, thriller and romance. The end was a little jumbled to me but I still loved the whole book. I listened to this book in a day because I wanted to find out what was going on and what was going to happen.

This read was just ok for me. I couldn't completely get into it. The writing was done well, the characters were ok, but the narrator wasn't a good fit in my opinion. The "different" voices for each character were basically the same so it was hard to get into each separate character. The romance part of it was also in my opinion was repetitive and kind of boring. The book in all was pretty predictable and would of been great if it had a couple twists and turns. I will try this author again.

This had the best setup and was definitely going to be it for me, but I couldn't get over how much the main character was described, this might be such an oddly specific thing, but by the end of it, it just wasn't for me. I am sure some people will enjoy this book.

I really wanted to get into this book, and the beginning is SO good. The perfect mystery… but It ended up not really being my thing. I couldn’t get past the very stereotypical female lead, Leigh. Too much time was spent describing details about her character that never added up to me: perfectly pressed silk shirts, fitted pencil skirts, Jimmy Choo shoes… but her apartment apparently is a disaster and she has three weeks of underwear to put away. These details made me eye roll and added up so abundantly that I couldn’t get past it.

Last Seen Alone has everything I look for in a good book- Suspense, slow burn romance and page turning twists and turns. The first chapter started off with pure suspense and I was sucked into the story right then. A woman is missing seemingly without a trace and Detective Brandon Reynolds is on the case. After a strange interaction with the woman's supposed lawyer Legh. Brandon know she is lying to him but also know he is attracted to her. When there is a break in in Leigh's office and she is attacked, Brandon is convinced the cases are related and begins spending more time with her. Leigh knows she is terrible in relationships after a bad break up but she cannot deny her attraction to Brandon. As the investigation heats up Leigh can't help following leads even when Brandon tells her to let the police handle the investigation. Soon Leigh herself finds herself in danger and Brandon will stop at nothing to save Leigh and solve the case, But will he be too late? This one had me guessing until the end!

2.5 starts if I'm being honest. I'm not a huge fan of romance books, although I used to be. Suspense and thrillers are more my style. I'm not a prude, but could have done without all the detail of the sex scenes. I felt they didn't add much to the story line. The narrator did an ok job with the female voices, but when she portrayed male voices it was a bust for me. Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to listen to and review the novel

I have been a huge fan of Laura Griffin for a long time - I bought and read her Tracers series for years. After a long break, I picked this book up. And was greatly disappointed.
The plot is simple to follow - feels very cookie cutter, predictable progression.
Though I liked the characters - it just did not hold my attention.

Last Seen Alone was an addictive read! From page one I was sucked into the mystery of Vanessa’s disappearance, following the trail of clues, and interviewing the suspects. Brandon doesn’t completely trust Leigh’s motives at first and doesn’t want her in danger. But as they investigate, they get to know each other, crossing paths as they get down to the bottom of the story, albeit at different angles.

There’s a definite immediate attraction that neither Brandon nor Leigh welcomes, but it’s irresistible anyhow. Even though they were a bit adversarial at first, they had chemistry! I loved getting to know these two and what made them tick. There was more of a back story for Leigh, the reason she was so passionate fighting for her clients, and I really admired her. The dirtbags she went after deserved some reckoning! I’m sad to say that some of the situations are very true-to-life.

With Last Seen Alone, Laura Griffin combined mystery, police procedural and romance in just the right amounts making for a captivating read!

I alternately read an e-copy and listened to the audio version of Last Seen Alone. Cynthia Farrell is a new-to-me narrator, and it took a bit to get used to her matter-of-fact reading style, but the more I listened, the more I settled in and enjoyed. I listened at my 1.5x normal speed.

A woman is missing and Detective Brandon Reynolds has records that Leigh Larson is her attorney. Leigh can’t tell Brandon much since it was weeks since she talked to the woman, plus as an attorney, there is the confidentiality rules she has to follow.

A fast paced and suspenseful novel first for the missing woman and then the reason behind her disappearance. Romance elements between Brandon and Leigh are passionate even though they don’t work together. I think Leigh was reckless in her investigation mostly because she’s an attorney, not a private investigator. She put herself in danger needlessly. But that’s what makes up the suspense typical of this author - the danger the heroine stirs up.
Plenty of twists and turns from beginning to end to keep the reader following.

🎧 I listened to the audiobook version narrated by Cynthia Farrell. She did a wonderful job with the voices of Brandon and Leigh as well as a few other characters. The emotions of suspense, fear and passion were clearly voiced and intense at the right times. The clear enunciation was a bit slow for me so I listened to most of the performance at my usual 1.25 speed.

Leigh Larson fights for victims of sexual extortion, harassment, and online abuse. Leigh recently met a woman names Vanessa who was interested in hiring her but now now Vanessa is missing. Cue the hunky detective Brandon Reynolds who is investigating Vanessa's disappearance.

The narration for this audiobook was good and there was one decent romance scene. Other than that, this whole story was essentially a "Great Value" Gone Girl where none of the characters were interesting and they seemingly can't help but make poor choices at every single turn. The fact that at least 3 of the characters weren't charges with obstruction of justice was insane. I know that this is a fiction book but I was annoyed at pretty much every character except for Vanessa's sister.

If you're a fan of this author, by all means pick it up. You probably already know what you're getting yourself into. Otherwise, just go and re-read Gone Girl instead.
