Lexi and her dog, Cookie, help Detective Berg solve the murders of two local real estate agents. Did it revolve around a real estate deal gone wrong or a jealous lover?
I enjoyed reading this charming cozy mystery. I liked the love interest between Lexi and Chad and how the local Book Club, the Macaroons, worked together to gather information. Though I liked most of the characters, there were a few that were not my favorite.
Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

A Poisonous Page by Kitt Crowe

This was a great novel: mixed with friendships and murders. Lexi is working hard to prove her friend, Dash, is not a murderer.

Well-written. Chad & Lexi didn’t alway agree on how to catch a killer. Great group of characters. I recommend this book.

"A Poisonous Page" is the second book in the "A Sweet Fiction Bookshop Mystery" series by Kitt Crowe. I haven't read the first book in the series, but I had no problem following the story and didn't have the feeling I was missing out on something.

This was a really entertaining cozy mystery with three-dimensional, likeable and quirky characters. I loved the relationship between Lexi and her dog Cookie, her lovely uncles and the banter between her and Detective Berg.

The plot was well crafted with twists and red herrings to keep the mystery interesting.

I will definitely read the first book in the series and I hope there are more adventures to come.

I received an epub copy of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

This was a fantastic story that had me hooked from the beginning. The characters were relatable And I was drawn in to their story quickly. The plot was well thought out with enough twists to keep me guessing but enough clues to know when a character was in trouble. I enjoyed the story so much I was sad when it ended.

What a great second book in this series. I love the setting of the book store and the little town.

Lexi's best friend's brother, Dash, has been accused of murder and it is up to her and her friends to clear his name. With the help of her dog, Cookie, the sleuthing is off to a start. As with the first book, the moments of humor are well timed and mix well with the more serious moments in the story.

I love how the author weaves a wonderful story that kept me guessing until the very end. I didn't quite guess who was behind the death and, in my opinion, that is part of what makes a good mystery. All of the possibilities and then realizing all the clues that led to the "bad guy."

I voluntarily received a copy of this book from Crooked Lane Books. All views are simply my honest opinion.

This was a fun read. I enjoy the back and forth between Chad and Lexi. I love that she always has the willing help of the book club to help her find answers. This is a good mystery and a solid read.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Things are hopping at Sweet Fiction so when the head of the Chamber of Commerce has a heart attack and dies, Lexi does not give it more than a passing notice. But when one of the deceased fellow realtors is murdered and left in her friend Dash’s back yard with a great frame up job, Lexi and Cookie are on the trail of another murderer. Dash is banged up in jail but between Lexi and the Macaroons Book Club they are investigating. It seems Dash had affairs with both women but then so did a lot of other men around town. That means there would be a lot of women who would dislike the first corpse very much..

Sorting through the “”Peyton Place” that is Confection only seems to increase the suspect list. And for some reason the detective who seems to delight in ticketing Lexi and Cookie for every small infraction does not seem as icy or remote. Has Cookie worked her charms on him or did Lexi judge him too harshly. He is even listening to information that Lexi and her crowd pick up. But he wants to make sure the killer does not put Lexi in his or her spotlight. There is a very good chance that he is going to fail miserably and Lexi and several others are in dire danger.

I liked this book very much. I liked that while we still had a heroine who gets deeply involved, she does seem to have a sense of self preservation and she is not at cross purposes with the law. There are some interesting romantic dynamics going on so I shall be very interested to see it play out more. Five purrs and two paws up.

Ktt Crowe continues the Sweetfiction Bookshop mysteries with A Poisonous Page. Excellent book cover illustration with the owner's dog Cookie watching pages of clues fly in the air. Lexi is busy with her book sales and new murders in town for which her friend is wrongfully imprisoned. Lexi enlists her book club to solve the murders and continues her contentious relationship with the local detective. Many suspicious characters in this town of affairs and bad real estate deals.

This is the 2nd installment in the Sweet Fiction Bookshop mystery series. It has been a couple of months since Lexi and Cookie solved the murder of her neighbor Gil and detective Chad Berg is coming into the store more often and is also still giving her and Cookie tickets for minor infractions. She is being teased by her best friends Cat and Terri but she is not sure what to make of it. When a local realtor Marilyn is found dead in her home of an apparent heart attack, Lexi begins to wonder if it was more. Detective Berg tells her and her Macaroon Book Club to back off. Since Marilyn’s family has a history of heart disease it is not so far fetched but she was only in her mid-thirties. When Lexi is out with friends at Nash’s bar Detective Berg comes in with Roger (who is dating Cat one of her best friends) and a drunken Rachel (an associate of Marilyn’s bumps into the detective while Lexi is talking to him Rachel calls him Mt. Bachelor and the nickname sticks with Lexi and her friends. When Rachel is found dead in Nash’s backyard a couple of days later, he is arrested for her murder well the whole group sets out to prove his innocence. Nash had dated both women but Nash is a favorite with the ladies and was not on bad terms with either one. Detective Berg knows that Lexi and her book club are searching for clues and he even agrees to hear what Lexi has to say and what they have found. Soon Lexi is major crushing on the detective and vice versa but where does this leave her feelings for Nash (that is why I don’t like love triangles as both guys are likeable). When Detective Berg has to borrow Cookie for a police presentation to children and Cookie is a star he really does begin to appreciate the dog and Cookie is once again instrumental from saving Lexi from a very dangerous situation. There are some funny parts to Lexi’s dangerous situation but don’t want to give away any spoilers. Once again this was an enjoyable read and love all the characters and the close knit community. I am only disappointed the next book is not out for me to read. Loved this book and can’t wait for the next one. Highly recommend.

This is just one more book I couldn't read. DNF. Tired of the liberal morals and can't do the wokeness. I didn't want to give it one star, but I have to to post the review. So sorry about that!

The more modern writers, even "cozy" are becoming too liberal. Throw in something that appears nice (but is really immoral) so it will sell. I just wish such writings would be clearly marked LBGTQ what-ever so I wouldn't have to waste my time and the publishers who offered this book for my review.

I will go back to all the tried and true classic authors.

I did not read the first book in the “A Sweet Fiction Bookshop Mystery” series, but I had no problem following the story and the characters. A Poisonous Page can stand on its own. Chamber of Commerce members are dropping like flies during the summer festival, and Lexi's book club, the Macaroons, jump at the chance to solve another mystery. Is someone killing off the chamber members because of politics, or is it more personal? No matter what the answer is, Lexi is going to find out!

The characters in this series are easy to like; even the chamber members are memorable. When two members die unexpectedly, there is little doubt that it is murder. The real question is, what’s the motive, and did one of Lexi’s employees, or even one of the Macaroons, kill two people? Is it just a coincidence that Dash, Lexi’s employee, dated both victims, or is he a killer? Lexi investigates and discovers secrets and lies, jealousy and greed, and a sinister plot that she finds hard to accept. The suspects are everywhere, from friends to business owners, to family. It seems that many people had a reason to want the chamber members dead. The killer, once revealed, is obvious but was not easy to uncover.

The motives are reasonable, the suspects have good motives, and all had the means and opportunity. There are plenty of red herrings to send readers on a wild goose chase but not enough to send them over the edge. The investigation is developed quickly, and the Macaroons play a large part in solving the murder of two chamber members, but in the end, it comes down to Lexi, and she does not disappoint. A Poisonous Page is a delightful read with wonderful characters and enough action to keep readers happy. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Author Kitt Crowe continues her new Sweet Fiction Bookshop series in this instalment, A Poisonous Page in style! Set in a small touristy town called Confection, in Oregon, it features Lexi Jones along with her doggy, Cookie, a border collie. Twenty-odd-year-old Lexi is a former book editor who is looking after her parents' business while they are away; they are bookshop proprietors. Lexi also facilitates a book club known as the Macaroons and they get involved when Lexi hears of a woman dying of a heart attack. Lexi can't help her suspicious nature.

I found A Poisonous Page a fun, thoroughly enjoyable and humorous read with the situation between Detective Chad Berg, and Lexi developing, although he was dead against her being a part of his investigation. I'm already hotly anticipating a return to Confection. Highly recommended.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Crooked Lane Books via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

A fun, quick cozy mystery. This is the first book I've read by Kitt Crowe, but I will be looking for the first book in the series that focuses on Lexi and the murderous happenings in and around the town of Confection. This second murder mystery centers around two murders, and the detective, Chad Berg, whose job it was to find the killer or killers. Lexi and her book club, the Macaroons, play amateur detectives to help solve the murders. I enjoyed learning about the residents of Confection, their quirks, their dark sides.

I love that this is set in a bookshop in Oregon! The humor was great, and I loved Lexi's dog, Cookie! The plot was well paced, and I did enjoy the mystery.

This was SO good! Please give me all the Lexi & Berg scenes.
Seriously, who could even help solve the murder when the lingering tension between Lexi & Detective Berg?

But really, this story line was well thought out, written, and perfectly pictured in my head. The Macarons & Cookie have to be some of the best supporting cast I've read in a while. They make the plot flow and continuously have me sitting on the edge of my seat wanting more.

I am on pins and needles waiting for the announcement of the next book in this series. Fingers crossed, Kitt Crower is working on something magical as we speak! FIVE STARS!

A thoroughly enjoyable cozy, mystery. I love the characters that Kitt Crowe has created for this mystery series. Lexi, Teri, Cat, Dash, Jimmy, Elvis, Mt. Bachelor (ha ha) and everyone living in Confection ,Oregon.
I was able to guess who the murderer was but Kitt threw enough distractions and red herrings in there that I second guessed myself a couple of times.

Looking forward to reading book #3 in this Sweet Fiction Bookshop series.

This series just isn't for me. I enjoyed the setting; it's very cozy and the townspeople are interesting. But that's where my enjoyment ends. I don't like Lexi; I find her annoying and childish. Her friends are the same. And in this particular book, with all the women hitting and slapping men, I felt like I was reading about an episode of Jerry Springer. The mystery itself was slow, with Lexi, again, accusing everyone with even less flimsy evidence than the police department had. There was one funny scene, the big reveal, but that was it. I will not continue with this series.
