The third book in the Sam Capra series, Downfall is capable of being read without having read the first two books. Abbott checks all of the boxes for an enjoyable thriller. There are twists and (hopefully) unexpected shocks. It is not a book that will be the darling of the literary fiction crowd, nor was it intended to be. It shines by being exactly what you expect in a good thriller: a fun read that keeps you glued to the pages until the end.

Lots of action, but I haven't read the other books in this series so I definitely feel like I'm missing out. If you like spy thrillers, this series might be exactly what you're looking for. Tons of intrigue and adventure.
