An intriguing story with a truly unexpected twist, this read was a total delight. As a therapist myself, I was totally caught up in this psychological thriller (particularly with the character of Avery and her controversial methods/practices). The audiobook was wonderful and kept me caught up in Marissa and Matthew-- the "golden couple" who appear to have the perfect marriage, but have many things occurring under the surface. Five enthusiastic starts for this read and listen! Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen never disappoint!

So I got an advanced copy of the audiobook and let me just say; the second this comes out I am going to need all of you to download it immediately. This author duo knocked their newest book out of the park.

We follow two perspectives; a recently unlicensed therapist and her client who just confessed to cheating on her husband. We follow both women navigating that betrayal. Honestly; the therapist is straight up just cool as hell. She’s genuinely a cool person and I loved her perspective on life and just the way she viewed the world. As for the wife and her husband; typically I hate reading about rich people problems but their wealth was not at the forefront of the story so it wasn’t to bothersome at all.

The twists and turns of this story was wild too; so this was a solid mystery I highly recommend it.

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen do it again and AGAIN! This duo wields some serious power in constructing and combining words that send their readers engulfed in their books. At know time did I find myself "figuring this one out." Hendricks and Pakkanen have a way of manipulating their readers brain and I'm here for all of it, every time. This story has the perfect pacing, character development, and writing was seemless. Whenever I see these two names on a cover I immediately have to read it.

This book was fun fun fun! When I first met Avery the main character I wasn’t sure I was going to love her but she found her way into my heart even with her unethical behavior! The imperfect characters tend to rub you the wrong way when you first meet them but they all have an endearing side to them that readers will learn to love. The golden couple has plenty of twists and turns on a few red herrings, you are sure you have someone pinned and all of a sudden… Boom! Their have you second guessing everything!

Great book! Highly recommend as a fun read where the twists just keep coming. I loved it. Totally different type of story … refreshing.

Why I did not immediately think, "Wow. This book is going to be twisted." is beyond me. That is clearly Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen's type and they do it so well! I was not disappointed.

This story revolves around Marissa and Mathew, aka "The Golden Couple". They are the couple that everyone dreams of being and they just have the reputation of being perfect. However, this is just an illusion, as Marissa has cheated on her husband. Wanting to get this out there so they can move on and save their marriage, they call up Avery Chambers. Avery is an ex-therapist who lost her license because the way she performs therapy is "unconventional".

I don't want to say much more for fear of giving something away, but let's just say that the infidelity is just a small problem compared to the rest. I definitely recommend this book, especially if you enjoyed Hendricks and Pekkanen's former works.

This was very possibly the very best book I have read/listened to all year. I have been recommending it to anyone who will listen. The characters were great and the suspense never stopped. I literally had no clue what would happen until the very end of the book. I gasped multiple times. This whole book checked off everything I was looking for in a suspense/thrilled/what the heck is actually happening?

I’ve read every previous novel by these writing partners and I’m never disappointed! This was another well executed plot that had me thinking I knew what was happening only to second guess myself several times. I do t read mysteries or thrillers with the goal of guessing the ending or any twists and I find that allows me to immerse myself in the journey the author or authors have laid out, which is much more enjoyable for me than playing armchair sleuth. I really enjoyed the character development in this book and how it contributed to the plot development- truly masterful work. I highly recommend ALL of the books by this writing team, but for me this one is a toe with An Anonymous Girl for their second best novel, their best being their first book together, The Wife Between Us.

Get ready for some twists and turns! This was a great psychological thriller - and I do love a psychologist in my psychological thrillers. But this counselor lost her license... and her methods are a bit unorthodox. Once she meets this golden haired couple, she has to find out what's really going on with their marriage and she will stop at nothing to do it. And you will be just as captivated as the counselor.

This thriller keeps you guessing until the very end. You won't know who to believe and who to trust. So, trust no one, and just keep reading. I loved the alternating POVs which really kept me on my toes. I've really enjoyed Greer's books and this one is no exception. I loved it. I also listened to the audio version and really liked the narrator. It adds a lot to the story and I highly recommend it if you like audio books like I do. This releases in March of 2022 - but you can pre-order now! Thank you to Macmillan Audio for my audio ARC!

Don’t let the book’s cover description fool you. This story is SOOO much more than the description! I think I liked it all the more because of the surprises. Note, I said “surprises,” as in plural. Chapters alternate between the perspectives of Avery, the therapeutic “consultant” with her novel method of treating whatever issue a client may be experiencing, and Marissa, Avery’s newest client. Yet, unlike most books, there isn’t a dual storyline. At first, I loved the simple idea of seeing a perspective of a client and a therapist simultaneously, then I realized there was so much more. This may seem like a vague review, but honestly there’s no way to provide more information without it being a spoiler. Suffice it to say, your favorite character may change multiple times throughout the story…mine did!

I listened to an advanced audiobook of The Golden Couple. The narration was spot-on by one male and one female narrator. I really hope the narration stays exactly the same, as it was perfect. There were honestly no slow parts in the story or narration. It flowed perfectly throughout.

Thank you to MacMillan Audio, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for this ARC.

The book is well written, it's interesting and a bit of a page turner. Your interest is piqued from the first pages and keeps going till the end.

What I really enjoyed about the book is how the Avery Chambers, the therapist is described. In my opinion, this is feminism done right. Avery is a very confident, intelligent, successful woman who knows what she wants and finds a way to get it. Confidence and intelligence are some of the best qualities a woman can possess and I much prefer reading about such characters rather than poor little, overworked, confused, misunderstood, broke, women.

The ending, although unpredictable, it is a bit farfetched in my opinion, but the book is a great read and the characters are likeable, mysterious and smart.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to read this great book!

Thank you @netgalley and @macmillan.audio for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely love to be tricked in thrillers and I definitely was in this one! We have a unique dynamic in narration between a therapist and the patient she is treating. There is drama ERRWHERE with the therapists backstory, the patients backstory, and the current timeline for both of them is forming an intricate and smart story that keeps you invested. The supporting characters in this book also played into everything and had me guessing who was friend and who was foe. The setting is in DC and I enjoyed the occasional tidbit or reference as that is not a norm setting in the books I read.

You Are Not Alone, An Anonymous Girl, and The Wife Between Us were all five-star reads for me. I knew I would love this book. I enjoyed every minute. I can't wait for the next book Greer writes.

I liked the audiobook reader as well.

I received this galley from NetGalley.

Writing duo Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have been a favorite since reading "The Wife Between Us" in 2018. Since then, I've picked up every subsequent book of theirs trying to chase that WBU high. Suffice to say, their newest "The Golden Couple" hits the mark entirely!

Keeping to what they do best, with switching POVs, a hint of past mixed with present, and the ever present therapist role, their thrills, chills, and suspense remain on high throughout this page turner.

A true psychological thriller with family drama mixed in.

Marissa and Matthew Bishop are thought of as the golden couple, the couple that seemingly has it all. Marissa and Matthew end up talking with a counseling consultant, Avery Chambers, who through her 10 step treatment method will try to help them save their marriage. The Bishops are not the only ones with problems, Avery has her own problems as well. Will Avery’s own problems interfere with her sessions with the Bishops?

With nail biting suspense, an intriguing complex plot, this book will have you hooked from the very beginning.

Narrators Karissa Vacker and Marin Ireland are fantastic! They take you on twists and turns from beginning to end. And the ending! Wow! The Golden Couple is meant to be listened to as the narrators build the tension between characters and drop bombshell confessions that make your jaw drop.

Another great thriller by @greeghendricks and @sarahpekkanen ! This book was insane! It was a cleverly written cat and mouse game that definitely kept me guessing.

A marriage on the rocks and a therapist who has issues of her own. Marissa’s confession could mean the end of her marriage to Matthew. But really, who did who wrong first? I didn’t know who to believe which made everyone the “bad guy”.

Need a book you can’t put down? Pick this one up! Pair it with the audiobook, so you don’t have to miss out while you’re on the go!

A thrilling, non-stop twisting plot. "The Golden Couple" by Greer Hendricks is a wonderful novel. Excellent, current characters and fabulous build up. Thank you NetGalley, the authors and publisher for the review copy. All opinions are my own.

The Golden Couple? Everything that glitters is not gold. Secrets, lies, and surprises. Very good read. Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to review this advance copy. Highly recommend.

2.5 stars. This title was just okay. The writing was decent, but the story felt a bit long winded and drawn out. I didn't feel interested in the characters. However, the twist at the end did surprise me.

The Golden Couple is one of my most anticipated books of 2022. So, when I got approved for an advanced listening copy on Netgalley, I was thrilled.

The Golden Couple is a multi-perspective thriller following therapist Avery Chambers and her clients, married couple Marissa and Matthew. Marissa has recently cheated on Matthew and they decide to try Avery's ten step method to put their marriage back together. I am going to leave the synopsis there because I think it's always better to go into thrillers blind.

I really loved this audiobook. It had multiple narrators for each perspective. This book was a slow burn, character focused thriller. I did figure out one of the twists, but most of the way through I was trying to figure out what lay under the surface. My favourite thing about this author duo's writing style is the way they can make you feel like you know exactly how this is ending and then blindsiding you with the truth. I highly recommend this book.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author, Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen, and the publisher, Macmillian Audio for gifting me this ALC for review.
