I couldn't get into this one, sorry. I gave it till 30% and just wasn't interested. Didn't want to force myself to continue.

Thank you Leanne Kale Sparks, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the audio to listen to this book in return for my honest review!

The Wrong Woman is an adult detective novel following FBI special agent Kendall Beck and detective Adam Taylor. When the disappearance of 5 year old Emily's investigation leads to Gwen Tavich being found dead in a nearby lake.

I listened to the audio book and I swear everytime a new chapter started I could never figure out who they were talking about. The plot was all over the place and all of the character were so bland. The narrator was just okay, nothing special.

Let me start by stating this is my first Audiobook and my first review. I can't compare the narrator but i did find times where the pronunciation (or mispronunciation) bothered me a little bit. I did find it hard to distinguish the characters as the "voices" were similar sounding. Again - this might just be me having to get used to an "Audiobook".

FBI Special Agent Kendell Beck has a heart-breaking case she must concentrate working on while also trying to solve the mystery disappearance of her best-friend Gwen. Kendell loans her car to her best friend/roommate who doesn't return when expected. Nobody is taking Gwen's disappearance seriously. Gwen's fiancee, Ty, says she's taking some time for herself but Kendall isn't comfortable with his explanation(s). What happened between them? What happened to her?

The descriptive writing was good. I'd consider it a "Page turner" if i was actually reading a book. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out "Who dunnit?" but the twist at the end was a good one.

I hope the author continues with these characters, I'd like to read more about them.

I really enjoyed this book. I also wonder if the case was tied up a little too neatly, so I am interested to see how things go if there is another book.

Kendall Beck, an FBI agent working on a case involving a missing 5-year-old, suddenly finds herself with a missing roommate. She loaned out her car to her roommate, Gwen, while her car was in the shop. But when she realizes that her friend doesn’t return home after her shift at the restaurant she owns, Kendall goes straight to the police to report her friend and car missing. Running the new case is detective, Adam Taylor, who begins questioning everyone in Gwen’s life who could have anything to do with her disappearance. When Kendall’s car shows up at a lake, and Gwen’s body is found dumped there, the case starts to heat up. Adam finds that there are connections between Gwen’s death and several other murdered women throughout the years in the area. As the story continues, more and more connections arise and by the end, the realization that this murderer took “the wrong woman” becomes apparent.

A great read for those who enjoy crime thrillers! Not only did I love the twists and turns, and the connections between all aspects of the book, but I loved the character, Kendall. She’s tough and smart, and overall a total bada**! A great read with characters that you can really connect with.

I listened to this as an audiobook and enjoyed the performance of the narrator, Erin DeWard.

A huge thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Leanne Kale Sparks for allowing me to listen to this ARC. It was provided to me in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you Net Galley for an audio copy of Wrong Woman by Leanne Kale Sparks. This is a murder mystery that that becomes personal for an FBI agent. You'll have to read to find out what happens. No spoilers here. This is a very enjoyable Audiobook.

Read this if…you like mysteries that have multiple storylines.

FBI Special Agent Kendall Beck is the sole survivor of a notorious serial killer known as “The Reaper.” While on the case investigating the disappearance of a little girl, Kendall’s roommate goes missing. Kendall teams up with another detective to find her friend, but when a body is discovered, Kendall starts to question how much she really knew about her roommate’s life. Meanwhile, it appears the Reaper has returned and he might have a special message just for Kendall.

I really wanted to like this book, but there was just too much going on. There were three major storylines and while they did all connect at the end, I felt like it was forced and didn’t make much sense to me. The little girl’s story was heartbreaking and I was invested in learning what happened to Kendall’s roommate. However, the serial killer plot was barely there and it didn’t add the suspense I was expecting. I am very skeptical about the serial killer’s identity. I see what the author was trying to do with connecting all the storylines, but it just didn’t work for me. The writing was strong otherwise and Kendall was a likable character, so I’m on the fence. Make sure you check out the trigger warnings for this one before reading.

A big thanks to Netgalley, the author, and Dreamscape Media for an ALC in exchange for an honest review!

My thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to review this audio.

The summary of this story basically says it all. FBI agent Kendall is a survivor of a serial killer when she gets involved in 2 cases. The first one is the report of a missing 5 year old girl, the potential victim of abuse. The second case, the murder of Kendall s room mate, which Kendall later finds, connects to the other case.

Not a bad listen. Enjoyed this. Just slow build up

2.5 stars

Am I the only one who found this book to be slow????? I could not get into this book, until the ending.

As I have not so subtly hinted, this was book was slow for me, was it the writing or the narration? I'm not sure. I wasn't the biggest fan of the narrator and I wonder if I would have enjoyed this more had I read the book.

FBI Special Agent Kendall Beck is the only survivor of the notorious "Reaper" serial killer. Her experience has inspired her to seek justice for survivors of abuse. She is investigating the case of five-year-old Emily Williams, when her roommate and best friend, Gwen Tavich is found dead.

Sound interesting, doesn't it? I thought this would be right up my alley, but it wasn't. Again, not sure if it was the book or the narrator, but this was not for me. The ending picked up and I enjoyed that, but I wasn't surprised by the reveal. Other readers are enjoying this much more than I did so check out their reviews.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

Holy crap, that was a ride!  Kendall Beck is an FBI agent who lives with her best friend, Gwen. Gwen owns and helps run a local restaurant with her fiancé Ty. While Kendall is working the molestation case, Gwen goes missing one weekend and Kendall has alarm bells going off inside and knows that something isn't right. At the same time, a local cop, Adam Taylor, is working a murder/body dump case and starts to realize that they might be connected to a string of serial murders in the area. As the cases progress, the pedophile, the murder of her best friend and the serial murders, a killer comes into focus and its pulse pounding action to see if they'll catch their man before he escapes or kills again. This is the first book I have read by Leanne Sparks. And I was hooked after the first few pages and stayed that way to the end.It is very well written and all the separate plot points conclude very well. The pace is fast and towards the end goes even faster which I loved. I thought I figured out who the killer was but was wrong. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.  If you like mysteries or thrillers I *highly* recommend you add this to your list for next year.

"The Wrong Woman" audiobook by Leanne Kale Sparks, is a twisty whodunit that will be published February 8th, 2022.

This book immediately grabs the readers attention with the intense heart gripping disappearance of a 5-year-old child named Emily. Agent Kendall Beck, is called in to help find Emily. Kendall is dedicated and determined to get to the bottom of Emily's disappearance and bring her back home. Additionally, Kendall's roommate and best friend Gwen goes missing. Detective Adam Taylor is brought in to work with Kendall during this devastating time looking for Gwen, but will they be able to find Gwen and solve the missing person's cases?

This book will rip your heart out from the very first chapter. I listened to it on an extended trip. It was the perfect audiobook to keep me involved in the suspense during a long car ride. The book follows multiple cases with different characters, but I was able to figure it out and easily follow along. Through the author's descriptive writing, I felt the drama and intense emotional pain in each situation. I was able to visualize the scenes as they played out in the book. Was the book perfect? No! It's a complicated novel, but I was really drawn into the development of the story and could not wait to find out what happened in each chapter.

Warning: Child Sexual Abuse, Violence,

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the honor of reviewing this audiobook. I really appreciate it!

The stories promo states:
The only survivor of Denver’s notorious “Reaper” serial murders, FBI Special Agent Kendall Beck grapples with ghosts of her past by seeking justice for victim of abuse.
This story starts off very emotional with the disappearance of five-year old Emily.
FBI Agent Beck and her partner are quick to come up with a suspect. While Beck is investigating Emily’s disappearance, her best friend Gwen disappears.( Is Gwen the wrong woman?)

This debut novel reminded me a bit of Karin Slaughter’s stories. Ms. Slaughter says that she likes to make her readers uncomfortable.
Yep this sure made me uncomfortable. It was not an enjoyable read for me.
Additionally, I have a low tolerance for f-bombs and there were sure a lot of them being thrown around immediately. I love a good mystery so if the story is good enough I can ‘take’ all the nasty language.
This wasn’t a big wow for me

Want to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Media ~ for this audio eGalley. This file has been made available to me before publication in an early form for an honest professional review.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for February 8, 2022.

This is a Crime/Police Thriller/Mystery. I did really enjoy reading this book, and it pulled me into this story. There was a couple things that bother me while reading this book. The first thing was there was to much going on, and it felt a little jumpy and not focus at times. The next thing was a know what the big twist was going to be for early in the book and way before it was revealed. I did still enjoy the ending. I also wanted more action in this book. The characters where good, but I just wanted more for the story. I listened to the audiobook for this book, and the narrator did a really good job. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

SPOILERS

Who let this book go to print with this title? It gives away the entire book. Once you realize the kids sexual abuse is a Red herring (weird plot device but I could even let that go) and that the real thing to pay attention to is that the person who died, died in the MC's car... well DUH.

Good solid thriller, fast paced and compelling characters. While there wasn't a cliffhanger ending, it left the possibility to continue certain plotlines. I enjoyed that there was a good chemistry between the main characters without any forced romantic connection allowing the focus to be on solving the crime(s). The audio narration wasn't my favorite. It felt choppy and unevenly paced. .

Triggers: abuse, graphic, murde

FBI agent Kendall Beck is famous for ll the wrong reasons; she’s the only known survivor of the serial killer called the Reaper. While caught up in the case of a missing five year old, Kendall is pulled back into darkness when her friend and roommate is found dead in a nearby lake. Sure Gwen was killed by her fiancee, Ty, Kendall joins forces with Denver detective Adam Taylor to bring him in. But even as Ty is arrested, Kendall begins to uncover the truth about the roommate she obviously never really knew and learns that her worst fears have been confirmed, the Reaper is back. This is a dark, complex mystery with one of the most interesting, many layered heroines I’ve encountered in a long time.
Great story, but the narrator's whispery voice was not my cup of tea. And there a number of mispronounced words that were grating

FBI Special Agent Kendall Beck is working a case involving the abuse of 5 yr old Emily when her best friend & roommate goes missing. Kendall teams up with Denver detective Adam Taylor to find out what happened to her. So there’s 2 ongoing investigations in the book, with 2 POV’s (Kendall & Adam). I really liked these characters! I wasn’t as impressed with the mysteries in the book but overall it was an enjoyable listen. I’d love to read more & have hopes this will develop into a series. I definitely recommend to crime fiction fans!

Thanks so much to NetGalley, Leanne Kale Sparks & Dreamscape Media for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
