"Fast-paced, nail-bitingly tense and packed full of twists and turns. I found it unputdownable – loved it!"--Sarah Pearse, author of The Sanatorium

Point Break meets And Then There Were None in a pulse-pounding beach read that explores the dangerous ties between a group of elite surfers who are determined to find the perfect waves at any cost…even murder.

The waves are to die for.

Three years ago, passionate surfer Kenna Ward lost her two great loves—after her boyfriend drowned, she hung up her surfboard and swore off the water for good. But she is drawn back to the beach when her best friend, Mikki, announces her sudden engagement to a man Kenna has never met—a member of a tight-knit group of surfers. Kenna travels to a remote Australian beach, entering a dangerous world far from civilization where the waves, weather, and tides are all that matter. Kenna is tempted back into the surf, and drawn into the dazzling group and the beach they call their own.

But this coastal paradise has a dark side, and members of the group begin to go missing. Kenna realizes that in order to protect Mikki and learn more about the surfers, she must become one of them…without becoming one of their victims. What follows is an adrenaline-fueled thriller packed with twists and turns, exploring the dangerous edge between passion and obsession.

Just finished The Swell by Allie Reynolds and it was so good! 🏄‍♂️

Kenna’s best friend, Mikki, announces her engagement to a man, Jack, who Kenna has never met. Out of concern for Mikki, Kenna catches the next flight to Australia. She discovers that Mikki and Jack are members of a tight-knit group of surfers. Desperate to find out if Mikki is okay and if Jack is a good guy, she decides to hang out with this group of surfers. However, members of the group begin to go missing one by one. And Kenna has to get Mikki out and back home before it’s too late.

Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ; what a wild ride that absolutely kept me on my toes! Each chapter ends on a cliff hanger and I ended up finishing the book in a day because I just had to keep reading! It seemed like every member had secrets and I loved the clues throughout the book. I haven’t yet read Shiver, Allie Reynolds’ debut novel, but am quickly adding it to my TBR 👏🏽

And thank you @netgalley and @putnambooks for the eARC! The Swell releases next month! 🌊

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the ARC of The Swell!

I love a good thriller and this did not disappoint. It took a few chapters to get used to the cast of characters and keep everyone straight, but once I got a feel for who everyone was, I was invested in the characters and their stories.

There were some parts that drug on a little bit in the beginning of the book, but the back half of the book was a whirlwind. I could absolutely seeing this book being made into a smash movie or limited television series.

I have not read the author's other novel, but I immediately added it to my TBR.

Thank you to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for providing me with an e-copy of The Swell by Allie Reynolds in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.

Always in the mood for a locked room type murder mystery, The Swell has been on my radar forever and I was thrilled to receive an advance copy! Allie Reynolds definitely delivered on this sexy, super twisty thriller!
Kenna has traveled to Australia to surprise and check in on her lifetime best friend and surfing partner in crime, Mikki. Mikki unceremoniously revealed to Kenna that she is about to have a quickie wedding to Jack, who Kenna is suspicious of, worrying that this shady possibly abusive man is using Mikki for her money and family surf industry connections. Upon arrival and meeting the sexy, charming and charismatic Jack, Kenna becomes uncertain if she has misjudged the situation, but still is on a mission to bring Mikki home. The best friends are both shocked when Jack invites Kenna to join them on an upcoming surf vacation with "The Tribe", an odd mix of hard core surfers, who lay claim to a mysterious, super secret beach that is nothing less than a surfers paradise. The only catch is she can never tell anyone about their paradise and in exchange experience the most intense and magical surfing experience of a lifetime. Once they arrive, Kenna knows that this beach is indeed very special, but at what cost? In the midst of a suspicious discovery of a body, the very real threats of sharks and treacherous natural elements, and revelations of previous tragedies in this paradise, nothing is as it seems. The story flips back and forth between perspectives of the individuals in The Tribe and all secrets will be revealed. Danger, mystery, adventure, and deadly secrets kept my attention throughout and I could not stop reading. The twists kept coming and it was shocking and thrilling! Perfect summer beach read! 5 stars from me!

Wow! What a story! This is one I will be thinking about for a while.

Kenna books a trip to Australia to visit her long lost best friend Mikki, who is recently engaged to a man that Kenna has never met. The wedding is soon and Kenna wants to surprise her friend by showing up and rekindling their friendship. But when Kenna meets Jack, Mikki's fiance, and their group of surfer friends, Kenna starts to think that maybe she doesn't know Mikki like she used to.

Mikki and Jack include Kenna in their beach trip to a secluded area off the map. Their group of friends are less than impressed when Kenna shows up unannounced, but they all deal with her being around. But when strange things start happening and some of the surfers go missing, Kenna starts digging deeper into Mikki's friends and their pasts. What will she uncover?

Things I loved about this book:
1. short chapters
2. told in alternating (though not many) perspectives
3. summer setting
4. beach setting
5. surfing.
6. the descriptions of the land and ocean
7. the way this story was thought out and executed

This book was so twisty and well done that I thought every single character was responsible for the surfers disappearing. Every time I had a theory and was sure I knew who the culprit was, there was another clue or something that made me change my mind and think it was something else.

I really enjoyed the story line and the setting of this book. I cant honestly say that in all my years of reading, I have never come across a fictional book that was about surfing, and certainly not to the extent of research regarding the sport that this one was. I was so enamored with surfing being the thing the group was dedicated to, and it made me like this book even more.

I could go on and on about how much I liked this book. This is the first book I've read by Allie Reynolds, (though I do own a copy of Shiver and it has just been moved way up on my reading list), and I can't wait to see what she brings to the book world next. 5 stars, I loved every minute of this one!

I loved Allie Reynolds first book, Shiver, and this next one was right on par! Great character development, sea breezy setting and lots of plot twist made this book completely consuming. As in, I could not put it down and read it one sitting! Pre-order this one now! You will not be disappointed.
