The Bullet That Missed by Richard Osman allows readers another visit with the members of the Thursday Murder Club and expands its complex universe. This third series entry has the group—former spy Elizabeth, naïve housewife Joyce, psychiatrist Ibrahim, and union leader Ron--trying to solve a cold case murder and managing to bring in a former KGB officer and a Swedish money launderer into their orbit. As with the first two series titles, the author manages to combine twisty mystery with touching observations about the human condition and the bittersweet joys and tragedies of old age. Plots and subplots are multi-layered and fold into one another expertly, and Osman’s love for his characters is obvious. While the series has always strained credulity with some of its plot points, this entry seems to ask much more of its readers with the suspension of disbelief becoming more of a total shutdown of critical thinking. Still, it is an enjoyable adventure with engaging, beloved characters that, at this point, nearly write themselves. Verdict: A fun and satisfying read that will have readers anticipating the next book.

Full Disclosure--NetGalley and the publisher provided me with a digital ARC of this book. This is my honest review.

This is such a fun group of friends. At it again, the Thursday Murder Club members are determined to solve a decade old murder, while Elizabeth has to keep her friend Joyce from being murdered, all while juggling their own personal affairs!
The third installment in this series is even better, if possible, than the previous two. And I love that Bogdan keeps getting more page time- if he's not an official member of the TMC yet, he should be soon- his assistance is invaluable.
Absolutely charming books!

I love this series. My favorite is still the second one, but I enjoyed seeing how the characters progressed in this one and look forward to book 4.

This series just keeps getting better and better. The introduction of three new characters gives this entry in the series a fresh touch. The plot and subplots are solid, the story has just the right blend of complexity, humor and compassion to keep the reader engaged from page one to the final sentence. Osman is a brilliant writer and creates believable voices for each of the characters. I highly recommend this book and suggest the series be read in order. The characters develop and grow throughout each book. Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced reading copy.

Once again, these amazing cast of characters prove that old age does not mean that interesting things stop happening. The mystery aspect is great as always, but the witty dialogue, humor, and friendships is what keeps me coming back to this series. I can't wait to see what this gang gets up to in the fourth installment!

I've come to love this series more with each novel. I can see this playing out as a quite popular BBC series which every patron asks for more of. I've recommended it many times over for persons who have watched/read all the series.

Another delightful mystery centering around the Thursday Murder Club. This time Elizabeth is given an ultimatum. If she fails the task given her not only will she be killed but, one of the Club members will be killed. As always the group works together with Donna, Chris and Bogdan to solve an old murder and a new one before the time runs out and Elizabeth is forced to carry out the deadly task that she was given.
These books just keep getting better and better. This story introduces some new characters that fit nicely in the story. There is so much character development and the quick dialogue between the characters is witty and endearing. I want to be a part of this club!! I am looking forward to the next book already, It cannot come soon enough. 😊

The Bullet That Missed is just as fun as the previous two books in the Tuesday Murder Club series. Full of charming characters, mystery, and heart. I enjoyed it immensely!

I underestimate Osman. I adored the first two novels in this series, but somehow felt that it would be impossible to keep up the delightfully quirky characters, the plot twists, the masterful blend of suspense and fun. I should never have doubted. Offering number three of the Thursday Murder Club, "The Bullet That Missed" was every bit as satisfying to the mind and humor. I don't know how he does it. Richard Osman is a marvel!

The third book in this series and I've read all three. Character driven murder mysteries...and oh, what characters! This one was a tad more convoluted than it should have been, but still very enjoyable. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Fun, addictive series that features fresh perspectives wrapped in traditional cozy format. Great for fans of classic mysteries.

This series has been consistent great fun, and this time around we see a few new characters added to the cast as well as the return of favorites from previous installments. In this series we see several characters with a price on their heads and the Thursday Murder Club on the track of a cold case that involves television presenters and international criminals alike. I very much enjoyed the twists and turns of this case, as well as the continuation of the flirtation between Bogdan and Donna, who's learned just how often Bogdan gets sucked into helping Elizabeth with some challenge or other. How will this play out in the future? Thankfully we were left with a clear promise of book 4 given that Osman has left us on a cliffhanger at the end. I am very much looking forward to the next stage of the adventure.

If you enjoyed the first two books, you'll enjoy this one as well. If you haven't yet read any, make sure to start with the first and clear your schedule so you can binge all three straight through in peace.

The Bullet the Missed is the third book in the Thursday Murder Club series.
The group is on to their next case. A woman was the victim in a car accident and the body was never found. As they try to get to the bottom of the mystery, a man goes after Elizabeth with a threatening offer. Can the group manage to solve a cold case all while navigating the shady world of crypto and killers?
These books never miss. I love the characters and how they interact with each other. The mysteries are always interesting and keep you guessing until the very end.

Such a fun novel to read! The characters are quirky and smart and they made me laugh aloud. It is always uplifting to have older characters who accept their age but still enjoy life and look to the future. This is one of my favorite series.

Thanks to NetGalley and Viking/Penguin Random House for the ARC to read and review.

So nice to be back with the Thursday Murder Club! I love this series and the third installment is fantastic. Didn’t want to put it down and the humor is right on target. Feels like spending time with a group of old friends and it’s hard to leave the world of Cooper’s Chase Retirement Village at the end of each book. I recommend this series to my library patrons and it’s been enormously popular.

This is the third in a trilogy of cold case loving pensioners living in a quiet retirement village in Kent. They are still meeting every Thursday and seem to choose cold cases that turn into real time murder mysteries. The four pensioners are quirky and seem to be unlikely friends but they all bring something to the table and they all are easy for the reader to fall in love with. This third book involves some ties to Elizabeth's former life with MI5/MI6, several murders, and local TV personalities. Through it all our pensioners, and the local police, interview a number of suspects, comb through reams of case notes and financial records to uncover not only the murderer but also a major fraud scheme. Delightfully fun characters and plots that keep the reader guessing. It doesn't get much better.

I've enjoyed each book in this series more than the last. These, and Lynne Truss's Twitten books, are my go-to recommendations for patrons who want a mystery that is light, but not dumb.

The plot is solid, but for me it's all about the vivid, charming characters. I tell patrons it's a murder mystery but really it's about friendship and trust.

Every book in this series has been an absolute treat, and I look forward to whatever Osman writes next. Ten out of five stars.

I'm sure I've mentioned before that I've gotten away from the cozy mystery genre, but in the case of the Thursday Murder Club series I'm willing to make an exception. Elizabeth is still my favorite character, but the others are not far behind. As with many cozys, the cast of recurring characters has continued to grow and I hope that the author trims things before it becomes unwieldy.

As for plot, there are a few twists but mostly it's just fun to see this group of friends work together to solve a mystery, another cold case, while dealing with a far more current threat. They aren't related, but of course threads from one will influence the other. No spoilers - just read!

I really liked this book. I read most of the first one but once I started listening to the audiobook I got confused as to who was saying what and gave up on it. I don't recommend listening to this book as there are so many different characters and they all have different sections of the book as well as their own chapters.

In this installment, the Thursday Murder Club investigates the murder of Bethany Waites - a reporter on a show that Joyce likes. The investigation leads to them discovering fraud/money laundering and two other deaths. As usual more characters are introduced, there may be a new member of the club, Viktor, an ex KGB agent with a history with Elizabeth. My favorite character was Alan, Joyce's dog ;)

I really enjoyed the romances in this installment. Chris is dating Donna (his partner)'s mom. Donna is dating Bogdan, and Ron starts dating Pauline, a makeup artist who knew Bethany from work. Also, Elizabeth and Stephen's relationship is discussed and he is clearly doing poorly in regards to his dementia.

The mystery itself was convoluted, and each person figured a part out and didn't tell the reader right away. Overall, enjoyed this installment a lot and will definitely read further when new ones come out. I will probably even make time to read the 2nd book, though I'd rather go forward since the romances/relationships in this one were IMHO the best part, not necessarily the mystery.

I don't know how he does it, but Richard Osman as written another book that is better than the one before. I am always wrapped up in these characters and their shenanigans. I hope some of the additional characters will make a reappearance in future books (hello to Viktor possibly joining them at Coopers Chase). I highly recommend this to readers who like a mystery with a little fun thrown into the mix.
