The Missing Widow by L.G. Davis is a compelling thriller that pulled me in from the start and did not let go until the final page.

Meghan is married to Brett, the son and heir to a successful hotelier. Brett is diagnosed with cancer, devastating Meghan, and when his pain becomes unbearable, he asks his wife to relieve his suffering by assisting with his suicide. Unable to do so, Meghan is stunned when Brett somehow dies alone, leaving behind only an empty syringe. Suddenly, Meghan is wanted for murder and is on the run with her young son, leaving behind a vengeful mother-in-law who vows to find her, wherever she may go.

This is a white-knuckler of a cat and mouse chase, and I was glued to the pages for the duration.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

Meghan is happily married to Brett, a wealthy entrepreneur involved in the family business of owning and running hotels. Meghan has married “up”, but Brett never makes her feel that way. Meghan is devastated when Brett is diagnosed with cancer, and given limited time to live, as he does not want to undertake cancer treatment. When nearing the end, Brett wants Meghan to assist him with dying. Meghan gets cold feet and cannot help, but when she returns to the house, Brett is dead. Who helped him and why is she being blamed for his death? Meghan is fearful that her powerful, wealthy in-laws will take her son, Ashton away from her and that she will live the rest of her life in prison. She takes Ashton and runs. She ends up in an isolated cabin in a small town. She’s safe, isn’t she? That is, until a newspaper clipping of the murder ends up on her front porch with her photo circled. This was a fast paced book with suspense. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.

I started this book yesterday and stayed up until midnight to finish it. I loved it. I was not expecting it to keep me on my toes.

"Zoe" is on the run with her son after she is suspected of killing her husband. Things are not what they seem in her life. After her husband died, Zoe flees with her son to a rural small town. She meets a cast of friends who are very supportive and helpful, that is until Hank shows up and things take a turn for the worse. As she is running for her life, she learns how truly sick her world was around her.

Great Thriller.

The plot grips you at the first chapter and doesn't let go until the last page, which seems to be the selling point of this author!
I loved the characters, Davis creates people that you love and want the best for, or ones that make you angry! Such is her talent.
I can't recommend this enough!

3.5⭐ bumped up to 4⭐ because i genuinely could not put it down
okay what did i just read?! there are plenty of twists and turns in this book

this book was a quick read that i was thoroughly engrossed in

long story short:
a woman's husband dies
she is blamed and in order to care for their son she runs away to avoid being framed
everyone in her life is total garbage until she moves to this small town and starts to integrate
she finds out the people in her life are more garbage than she thought
cliffhanger

definitely gives gone girl vibes so if you liked that book you'll definitely be engrossed in this one

to be honest i didn't feel a connection to any of the characters in this book, but i loved the writing style and will definitely be reading more from this author in the future

Triggers:
-cliff hanger
-murder
-suicide
-cancer
-euthanasia
-rape (non graphic)
-sexual assault (non graphic)
-claustrophobic scenes

Thank you, NetGalley and the Publisher for the eARC! L.G Davis does it again with The Missing Widow. Lots of twists that kept me guessing with a shocking ending. The very ending was kinda random in my opinion but it was still a very enjoyable read.

Wow! This book was full of exciting twists and turns that I did not see coming! This was my first time reading a book from L.G Davis...I need to read all of her books!

Meghan and her son are on the run from the police, as they think that she killed her husband. Meghan and her son move to a small town and change their names. However, we find out that the case is resurfacing. Meghan has no idea if she killed her husband or not - she simply cannot remember. Enter some suspicious characters who seem to be watching Meghan. Who is trying to frame Meghan?

I really loved the main character, Meghan.. Davis created a range of characters with good depth. I found it so hard to put this down - it was fast-paced and bone-chilling. Page after page, we kept getting more surprises! Davis avoids relying on overused thriller cliches and develops a novel with a fresh plot. A must read for anyone looking for a unique thriller!

liked this book, although it was very slow in parts, and I didn’t like how it ended.

Meghan is happily married to Brett. When Brett is diagnosed with cancer, he chooses to forego Chemo, and live out his life.

After he dies, Meghan takes their son and tries to disappear, in order to escape her ruthless in-laws, who have accused her of murdering their son.
They start a new life with new identifies, but Meghan constantly looks over her shoulder, hoping she won’t be found.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC.
I rate it 4 stars.

3.5 stars.

Meghan is a hotel chambermaid who marries the heir of the hotel chain. Her friends from the hotel ditch her once she gets married, her in-laws can't stand her, and she is alone in the world except for her husband Brett, who is dying of cancer.

On the night Brett dies, he asks her to give him a lethal dose of drugs to put him out of his suffering. Meghan refuses and leaves the room, but when she returns the syringe is empty and her husband is dead --- and her in-laws are accusing her of murdering him for the money.

On the run, Meghan tries to outrun her past and start over with her four-year old son --- but her constant fear and efforts to try and clear her name and come out of hiding leads her to uncover new information about the family she married into and the hotel they run.

The last 25% of this book was so chaotic it felt like a fireworks show. I wish the tension had been more spread out throughout the entire book (it didn't really feel like a suspense until the latter half) but the ending certainly did have my jaw on the floor.

This book was such an edge of the seat read. I loved the not knowing what was going to happen. It was hard to tell who the bad guy was the one who had done it. I loved that Megan did everything she could to protect her son. Great read I couldn't put it down.
