I dnf'd this one. I wanted to see if Christmas books would hold up all year round but the two I've picked up I've not finished so either they don't hold up outwith December, or I picked the wrong books for me.

I think the premise of stealing money just overshadowed it all as it opened up too many conflicting thoughts around capitalism and the cost/accessibility of healthcare and really I just wanted a fun, light romane.

This was a short title and Christmasy- the storyline seemed intriguing, but it felt like there were a lot of plot holes and missing pieces to make it truly great. The ending seemed a little off to me and the romance felt slightly forced. I don't think this title was for me unfortunately.

I’m slightly late in writing this review. The story is about Robin and her friends and family. She has been embezzling money from her employer to help her family after a tragedy with the assistance of her friends. It had a Robin Hood type of feel in that sense. Overall I don’t morally agree with the action of the FMC at all. I understand wanting to help family but not at the expense of criminal activity and putting those you care about in harms way. The MMC Jake has been hired to look at the finances to determine why they have had such a loss. He has to share an office with the FMC. They are enemies due to circumstances. Robin instantly dislikes him as she is fearful she will be discovered. Although she is attracted to him. Jake is attracted to her as well. Overall the story is interesting in the sense I don’t DNF but it sort of builds too quickly and it’s like an instant love without the foundation built. He also seems to just skirt over the fact she is stealing from the hotel to which has been hired to investigate. I just feel like it’s an unrealistic story in the sense. I did like Tina and Robin friends. I think it’s okay story for the Christmas season.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, SolVin Creative from and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

Fun, cute, quirky romcom focused on Christmas and the holiday season. Short story, quick read, predictable but entertaining nonetheless. Female MC had wrongdoings- that’s the plot line- I don’t fully support bow that plays out but whatever. It’s just a book. It’s meant to be read and enjoyed.

I absolutely loved this novel.
Such a great story with defined characters and a great plot.
What drew me in the most was how fleshed out the characters were
The writing style was fluid and relateable.
The cover was fascinating as well.
A reviting read overall
Definitely recommend adding this to your TBR!

It's an okay book about a woman who steals money at her job and the guy she falls in love with is the guy hired to find out who is stealing.

Pretty much that is it. Insta love, too short in my opinion.

Pros:

Festive Atmosphere: The author successfully captures the essence of the holiday season, incorporating delightful descriptions of decorations, traditions, and joyful moments. It's a great book to read during Christmastime to get into the holiday spirit.

Light-hearted Romance: The romance aspect of the story is sweet and heartwarming. The interactions between the main characters are enjoyable and will bring a smile to your face. If you're a fan of feel-good love stories, this book delivers on that front.

Cons:

Predictable Plot: Unfortunately, the plotline lacks originality and is quite predictable. I found myself anticipating the twists and turns, but they never came. It follows a formulaic approach, making it a less captivating read for those seeking something unique and surprising.

Underdeveloped Characters: While the main characters are likable, they lack depth and complexity. Their backgrounds and motivations are not explored in sufficient detail, leaving them feeling somewhat one-dimensional. I would have appreciated more character development to truly connect with their stories.

Pacing Issues: The pacing of the story felt uneven at times. Certain sections dragged on, while others felt rushed. This affected the overall flow and made it harder to fully immerse myself in the narrative.

In conclusion, "Fa La La" is an average holiday-themed romance novel that captures the spirit of the season but falls short in terms of plot originality, character development, and pacing. It's a decent choice if you're looking for a light-hearted read during Christmas, but don't expect any groundbreaking elements or surprises.

A great festive spirit book that reveals what really matters in life. I loved the enemy to lover's relationship. A fun filled story that also had me feeling sad.

I couldn't get behind this book.

The premise of the book is that a group of people are stealing from their employee to help someone pay off medical bills after a tragic accident. No matter the reason I could not get behind this major plot in the story.

Everything else just became shaded by the fact this is what the story was about.

I couldn't even finish this book and it's a very short one.

Robin and her band of merry women started stealing from The Nottingham hotel last holiday season when her niece’s medical bills became too much to bear. As this year’s holiday season approaches, Robin hopes to erase those bills for good, but there’s just one problem. Her scrooge of a boss is on to her little scheme, and he’s hired accounting firm Sterling Marian, LLP to find out what’s going on.

Uncovering the reason for The Nottingham’s recent financial woes will get Jake Marian’s boss of a mother off his back and secure his place as a partner of Sterling Marian, LLP. But when Jake is forced to share an office with the hotel’s events and excursions coordinator Robin, his task becomes more than he bargained for.

Unexpected sparks fly, and Robin and Jake learn there’s more to each other than meets the eye in this gender-swapped Robin Hood retelling with a modern-day, romcom twist, that’s sure to have you saying, “Fa La La” to love!

📍 Read if you like:

• Modern-Day Robin Hood
• Unrealistic Romances
• Quick Reads

I was so excited to read this Christmas book as I was in the holiday spirit. It’s a modern-day take on Robin Hood (gender reversed) where the MC steals money to give for medical bills.

This book had so many negative reviews on Goodreads, which I completely understand why. It is an unrealistic romance and at times it was a bit dull. While I don’t think the situation was okay - our MC stealing from her employer - I still thought some moments were fun.

It was a super quick read, the writing style wasn’t the best but it had potential. At the end of the day, it was a fun quirky holiday romance.

The ending wasn’t the best and some parts of the book weren’t done correctly, but I personally still enjoyed the Christmas spirit it gave. At the time it was sorta enjoyable.

This book definitely won’t be for everyone, but if you’re okay with an unrealistic romance then I would suggest giving this a shot! It was quick and gave a nice story for the holiday season!

Cute short book….wasn’t really liking the story line of stealing money….I couldn’t forgive people for that no matter what the reason, plus the romance seemed dull.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this book.

This was a short, fast read, However, this story made no sense. I felt as if I was just thrown into the middle of the story. Just didn’t work for me.

Such a fun Christmas read. I highly recommend if you love a good rom com. It was quirky and fun. But embezzlement is not a fun plot point. It had some hits some misses.

Unfortunately, this book wasn't for me. This has a great premise and I was hopeful it would be a great holiday read but it fell a little flat for me.

Unfortunately, this book was another case of an amazing premise that didn’t live up to its own expectations.

Fa La La is a holiday-themed, genderswapped Robin Hood retelling.
This book was fun although there were some darker moments.

Thank you for the ARC! I didn’t like this book. The writing feels immature. I liked that the book was short and to the point, but disliked how perfectly things wrapped up for the main character and felt zero love connection between the main characters. Christmas reads are usually corny which I enjoy but this one was just…not good.
