Portia Macintosh will make her readers roar with laughter with her latest delicious romantic comedy, Your Place or Mine?

After getting kicked out of her flat, Serena needs somewhere to stay and luckily for her, her friend Taylor comes to her rescue when she asks her to house-sit while she and her husband go travelling. After a particular run of bad luck, this offer from Taylor is like a gift from heaven. However, what Serena doesn’t realise is that she is not the only one who had received this offer. It turns out that Taylor’s husband had extended this particular invitation to his musician friend, Ziggy – and he is far from the ideal housemate! What is Serena going to do now?

With his penchant for wild parties, lack of consideration for her feelings and his inability to keep the place tidy for more than five minutes, Ziggy is not exactly a contender for housemate of the year. But Serena is not about to roll over and let him have the house. If Ziggy wants to be difficult, then she is going to show him just how difficult she can be by being worse than he is. Only, Ziggy is onto her and war quickly ensues between them. Only, none of them could have possibly guessed what was going to happen next.

Portia Macintosh is at her hilarious best with Your Place or Mine? A fun romantic comedy that sizzles with witty banter, intense chemistry between the leads and plenty of side-splitting humour, Your Place or Mine? is a brilliant read sure to brighten up a cold and dismal afternoon.

I really enjoyed this book, it was funny, light hearted, and I loved the chemistry between Serena and Ziggy. Seeing Serena having to adjust to losing her maternal figure and having to become more open minded was really interesting.

This is single POV and the blurb doesn't really sum up the story. The romance is more an added complication for Serena, this book is about starting over and taking a new direction more than anything else.

There is something I've noticed in other reviews that I should point out. Serena has a BF and it turns out she's the other woman and the relationship doesn't end straight away. There is no intimacy when she finds out but it may be a trigger for some people.

I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I knew I shouldn't have waited so long to read this one!! Loved everything about it! The characters, the love hate scheming relationship That Ziggy and Serena had. There were some great 'awful' characters for us to hate and some lovely people. The secrets and journeys made this story, and I loved seeing how Serenas life was unfolding. The self tan scene was brilliant! All in all a corker of a book! ❤️

Book boyfriend - check, cute funny moments - check, love story you wish would happen to you - check. Romantic comedy perfection - check check! Ziggy is the haphazard love interest we didn't know we needed.

Cute romcom? Not sure.

The FMC is a doormat one moment, a prankster and small business owner the next. I didn't feel the chemistry between her and the love interest.

Serena found herself alone when her boss, Diana passed away without a job and a home. Diana’s children decided to dispose of their mum’s café. Being stranded, she is happy enough to accept her friend’s offer for her to stay in her house while she and her husband travelling. However, due to miscommunication, her husband also offers the house to his friend, Ziggy to stay. Ziggy is a messy companion with a free & easy attitude. Soon, Serena discover that Diana has indeed left her something and she need to decide what to do with it.

This book is a story about grief, financial and relationship issues. The story plot is interesting and I like the characters though I might not be able to accept the way they solve their problems. Both Serena and Ziggy have a big different in their personality. I love their constant bickering which started as dog and cat fight escalated into prank against each other. Overall, it is a delightful read to me.

Your Place or Mine? is described as an enemies to lovers, forced proximity rom-com however for me I only made it about 50% when i stopped. It was more focused on infidelity and I just absolutely did not like either of the characters enough for me to want them to be together. Both are so immature, frustrating and although I love a female POV, Ziggy needs a POV to bring more of a balance together. I just personally did not connect to it.

After a misunderstanding by their friends, Serena and Ziggy find themselves housesitting the same property. They are polar opposites and living together proves problematic. Each trying to out manoeuvre the other to gain sole occupancy of the house.

A fun lighthearted read.

I think I need to give up on Portia Macintosh books. Her books are a little problematic for me. Starting off with the characters. Serena is very immature and deals and handles with issues in such an annoying way. It was hard to see and feel any sort of chemistry amongst the two mains. I love the cover of this book but unfortunately the way it was executed wasn't a hit for me.

Portia is such a firm favourite. This didn’t disappoint at all. Serena and Ziggy were the perfect characters. I can’t wait for more from Portia.

I tried really hard but I just couldn’t get into this book. It was pretty hard to feel connected to the characters or the story.

A light hearted predictable read from start to finish. Did it hook me in? No? Would I read it again? Probably not but if you enjoy simple, predictable, does what it says on the tin romances then this is for you. A quick read with generic, likeable characters.

This was a cute-ish enemies to lovers, forced proximity romance book.

After Diana dies, Serena loses her job at the cafe and the flat she lived in. Her friend Taylor suggests that she live in her home while she and her husband go on vacation. Unbeknownst to Taylor, her husband has invited his slacker/musician friend, Ziggy to move in as well.
Serena and Ziggy immediately dislike each other as they find themselves reluctant roommates. They seem to be polar opposites and they are pushing each other's buttons hoping to make the other move out.

This started out strong but loses steam once there's a cheating boyfriend and a secret inheritance in the picture. I've loved other Portia MacIntosh books, but this one just misses the mark.

This was fast paced and a cute read. I was reading some of the lesser thrilled reviews and a lot of people didn't like the cheating trope. I absolutely despise cheaters but this wasn't really a tough book to read because of it. I really enjoyed the story overall.

Ziggy wouldn't be classified as a book boyfriend for me but I did really like his character and how accepting and trusting he was.

I really liked Serena as the FMC and her whole relationship with Diana was beautiful and actually made me tear up in the end.

Overall, cute story, closed door romance, and I would totally recommend. :)

A fabulous, entertaining read. I devoured this book in less than one day. Laugh out loud funny, light hearted and easy to read but complete with all the warm and fuzzy feels. Hits the right spot! ;)

Thank you Netgalley

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Thank you Boldwood Books for this ARC!

Your Place or Mine? is about Serena and Ziggy, who end up as accidental roommates. The two of them instantly hate each other and try to get the other to give up their stay at the house. This house only has one finished bedroom. With their best effort, they fight dirty to get the other to go away. They get into all types of trouble together with their scheming and I found that to be very entertaining!

There are some sensitive topics talked about in this book such as grief and financial struggles but overall this story is really light-hearted. I found myself really cackling out loud at some of the things Serena says and does! This book is more about the schemes Serena does to help herself and others after she loses her dear boss, which leads to her also losing her career and apartment. This book is told solely from her perspective, so it feels more like women’s fiction or comedy than romance.

There are many side plots in this book that come together at the very end. The way this book is written felt pretty chaotic to read. There are at least 4 different storylines that all involve our single narrator, Serena. One of the storylines includes cheating, not between our main characters–Serena and Ziggy, but it is a part of the book from basically beginning to end. I don’t mind if cheating is present in book, but I don’t feel like it was successful or necessary in this story. It was distracting from the romance between Serena and Ziggy. I wished that Macintosh would have spent more time building the relationship with the main characters relationship.

As expected with so many plots, this romance is very much plot driven. I prefer to see more character growth in my romances, so I think readers who like romances that focus on the plot instead of character development, will enjoy this one. I did find many of the antics with Ziggy and Serena in the latter half of this story to be so sweet and I craved more of those interactions. I loved their back-and-forth banter and when they were on good terms it was very cute!

Overall, I liked the book. I think this story could appeal to many romcom fans! It was funny and fast paced.

Spice Rating: 1/5 🌶
There is some innuendo but all the spice in this book is inferred or closed door.

"Grief is the cost of love."

In the past year or so, I have read three of her books and enjoyed them all immensely. Usually, this ominous start has a particular reason. When measured against that yardstick, this book was good but not as fun. I think I would have preferred the lead couple in this book to not have gotten romantically involved. Every other part of the story was something I could get behind.
We have two people, only one of whom we have access to the private thoughts of, who need a temporary roof over their heads. Serena has just lost her beloved employer (and landlord), who has bequeathed her the most random gift. Ziggy was offered the place at the same time and is okay to share but ends up rigging the system in the house to especially annoy Serena.
Serena's plotline has a very eclectic mix of things happening. There is the professional front, the personal and that small crossover that is actually bad for her mental health. Her actions and her behaviour are entertaining and emotional in parts. Ziggy is not as captivating. I would still recommend this book to readers of this genre, but after the number of them that I have read, even by the same author, I am a little pickier with the central love story. I look forward to whatever the author has next in store.
P.S: Although the timing of this book means it overlaps with the NetFlix movie of the same name, they are completely different.
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.

A cute, Quick read. I enjoyed the enemies to lovers trope, but I would have liked to have seen more character development between Serena and Ziggy.

Your Place or Mine? involves two different plotlines. One of them centers around Serena and Ziggy, who are two strangers that are forced into living in the same house while their friends are on vacation. They hate each other right off the bat, but some feelings rise up that start to change things. The other plot involves Serena trying to expose a cheater for the cheat that he is.

These two plotlines made the story a little messy. The plots didn’t combine until the very end, so it was like I was reading two different stories combined into one. The hate-to-lovers plot is the one that’s mentioned in the synopsis, so the cheating plot was shocking and I honestly wouldn’t have requested this book off of NetGalley if I was aware of the cheating plot. I was debating whether or not I wanted to mention the cheating element in my review, but it takes up at least 50% (if not more) of the book so readers should be aware of it. The cheating plotline wasn’t even resolved well. I was hoping for some epic reveal of the cheating, but the resolution ended up being awkward and annoying.

This was an adorable read. I love a fun enemies to lovers. It was an interesting journey that these characters went on. And it was fun watching them grow into themselves. A lot of interesting and real life problems were being faced in this book and i really enjoyed that aspect.
