This was one of my favorite graphic novels that I read last year. I love all of the characters but especially Ichabod our pumpkin headed Paranormal Investigator. He takes our MC, Ellie, under his wing after she gets fired from her job at a thrift store. I love them as a team, they just work together. It looks like they may become romantic in future volumes and that would be fine but I like them better as coworkers. I loved the artwork. It was very easy to digest and nice to look at. I can't wait to read the next volume!

I really wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as I had and that was a lovely surprise because this was great!

Here are my no-spoiler-notes:

+ Ellie having the worst day ever
+ but closed doors open another
+ surprise magic!!
+ love how the stories do not take too long to progress, and that it's not hard to understand
+ the cliffhanger!!

Artwork was great and I feel like it has a lot of potential. Characters have room for more development but overall I think it’s a good first volume.

This was really nice! The artwork was really cute, it was my favourite part of it. The story was alright, I managed to finish the book. I recommend I feel like certain people will really love this, because of the supernatural vibes and the artwork.

I really liked the concept of this graphic novel and the art work was really great!! I just don’t think this one was for me but I know a large group of readers will love it and I will definitely still be recommending it!

This was a fun first volume and I am interested to keep reading. Characters are a bit shallow at this point but I can definitely see opportunity for further growth.

I received an eARC of this title through NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I started reading this title when it first became available on webtoon. I feel it has improved over the years and am excited to see a physically copy being made.

This is a supernatural read, a woman down on her luck runs into a man with a pumpkin head. As soon as their paths cross, she begins on her journey of helping him solve cases and learn about all things supernatural.

The art for this webtoon is beautiful and you become somehow attached to the pumpkin headed man who has secrets of his own.

I recommend this title for anyone who likes supernatural/magical fantasy genre. The magic of this world is unique and interesting.

Things I never thought I'd say: "Why am I attracted to a pumpkin?"

For all the dudes and dudettes out there who thrived as emo kids during the 2000's, this one's for you. I adored the whole vibe of this comic. It might be one of my favorite that I've read this year and maybe it's pumpkin dude or maybe it's the fun Scooby Doo-esque hijinks, but I cannot wait for the second to be published (I know I can read it on Webtoons, see below for explanantion)

In a world full of online comics, I am so thankful for Webtoons unscrolled. I stare at LCD screens all day and the last thing I want to do is wreck my eyes even more when I get a chance to read. I am firmly a paperwhite girlie, so knowing that this is going to be printed instead of remaining forever digital is a gift from the gods.

The story couldn‘t quite catch me, so I never finished reading it. Though I think it has a lot of potential.

"Third Shift Society Volume One" is a Webtoon series created by Meredith Moriarty. It follows Ellie, who transitions into a role as a Paranormal Investigator after aiding the pumpkin-headed Ichabod in quelling a restless spirit. The comic adopts a "monster of the week" format, wherein Ellie and Ichabod tackle various paranormal phenomena across one to two chapters, featuring recurring characters throughout their investigations. Super fun with amazing artwork as well.

I had no idea what to expect with this one, but I really enjoyed it! The artwork and colors were pretty and easy on the eyes, the storyline wasn't too off of the wall, though the MC h and her poor "stranger danger" sensing ability made me want to smack her and it ended on a cliffhanger of sorts, but all together it added up to a book where I will gladly seek out and read the next volume.

Is it weird to admit that I have a TEENY TINY book boyfriend crush on Ichabod, despite (or maybe because of) his pumpkin head?

Kinda not happy that his partner, the MC h whose stupidity moves the plot forward at the end of the volume, is quite possibly a love interest for him in the future. She brings it down a star, cuz I be petty like that yo.

YOU DESERVE BETTER ICHABOD!! YOU DESERVE ME!!

Et hem. I digress.

I highly recommend this if you want to read something different where if there is a romance, it is a slow burn, at least in the first volume. It has good action and the ending has enough of a hook to grab, but not so much that it annoys.

4, I am SO on board for the next book can it come out yesterday please, stars.

My thanks to NetGalley and WEBTOON Unscrolled for an eARC of this to read and review.

Weird as hell, why is there a guy with a pumpkin for a head?! Will it be explained?
However, interesting story, nice and vibrant art style and hey, who doesn't want to solve supernatural crimes for a living!

A pumpkin-headed paranormal investigator hires a young woman with her own blossoming powers to be his sidekick, and together they give ghostly creatures a run for their money. What a blast! Great art, interesting cases, and a whole lotta humor made this one a mysterious world of fun. I cannot wait for volume two!

Thanks NetGalley,

I thought this was a great first volume and cannot wait for the next one. This one gives you just enough to get you addicted and leaves you guessing until volume 2 to find out about what is going on and I absolutely love the artwork...Definitely purchasing this one for the library and will definitely be recommending.

Life’s funny. One minute you're jobless, deep in debt and on the verge of eviction; the next you’re in a fight with a monster and getting a job working for a Paranormal Detective with the head of a Jack-o-Lantern. Ellie discovers that monsters are real, she has latent psychic powers, and a well dressed man with a pumpkin for a head wants her to be his partner. It’s a lot to take in. Now the clumsy but determined Ellie and her Pumpkin-headed boss Ichabod have to team up and fight the things that go bump in the night. Ellie finds herself tangled up in a magical world where monsters are real, demons tend bar, and psychic conversations take place in a super unsettling mystical void. And there are even more dangerous forces at work, just out of sight.

A book that seems destined for the Skullduggery Pleasant fans. Or perhaps those who loved “Hollowed” by Watters and Boyer-White. Aaaand a pinch for younger readers who would have been all over Buffy and Supernatural, but were born just a couple decades too late.

Ellie is utterly broke, and any job that pays well and keeps her from becoming homeless is worth the hassle. Even if your coworker is Ichabod, a pumpkin-headed gunslinger who maybe is a bit too dead for HER own good.

A bit of monster of the week, a bit of early hints at romance. While there is the financial aspect that would make this an adult setting, there’s little in this book that makes it unsuitable to younger readers. Later middle-grade, I’d say.

I wasn’t enamored enough to continue reading on Webtoon, but if you’re looking for some hunting and slaying, this will scratch the itch.

Advanced reader copy provided by the publisher.

Requested this and could not get into it at all. The art and story line were just not for me at all. I thought it was going to be more gory or maybe more ya. Just didn’t work for me.
