On Her Watch by Melinda Leigh Book 8 in the Bree Taggert Series which keeps getting better and better. A fast paced police procedural with some very creepy and nasty murders and an total evil serial killer. The core group of characters including the lovely dogs, are still evolving with their connection to each other and the deputies in Bree's office. Awaiting another installment of this entertaining and well written series.
Thank you to Melinda Leigh, NetGalley, and Montlake Publishing for the opportunity to preview the book.

Bree is back baby and how!! Whoop whoop…. The moment I received the ARC I made a little happy dance as I love the Bree Taggert series. This is book 8 in the series. The books in the series can be read as stand-alone, but to get more of the background stories I recommend reading the whole series and I’m (almost) sure you won't regret it.

I have some weird love for Melinda Leigh her books. The plot is always predictable for me (probably for seasoned Thriller and Crime/Mystery readers as well), but…her character-building is just sublime. Not only do you feel connected to the very strong FMC sheriff Bree Taggert but you also develop a deep love for the other characters. The chemistry between Bree and Matt is flying off the pages and the kids are just aaaww and you feel for them. I think that Melinda nailed the feeling for a woman to juggle family life and work. Even tho Bree has to go to work, she feels bad leaving her kids while they need her as well. Although the plot was a bit predictable for me, the well-built tension, suspense, the twists and turns gripped me and made me turn the pages. The story touched on some real-life issues and I think that is what makes you invested in the story as you can easily relate and feel for the characters. A must-read for any crime/mystery fan who also enjoys a romantic subplot. A 4.5-star book for me rounded up on good reads.

This is the 8th book in the Bree Taggert series and I think the books keep getting better and better! The author has an amazing ability to keep the reader on the edge of the seat and guessing who the culprit is. These books are nearly impossible to put down until you’re at the end. In this book the sheriff’s office is short staffed because of an influenza outbreak, and when several bodies are found in the woods wrapped in tarps the few officers who are well are called on to find who killed them. This book could be read as a stand-alone but I recommend reading the series from the beginning. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

Another brilliant instalment of the Bree Taggert series by Melinda Leigh. I enjoyed the premise of this one, and I have enjoyed Bree's personal character development throughout the series, although it can get a bit repetitive at times.

This is book eight in the Author's Sheriff Bree Taggart series and can in my opinion be read as a standalone

Hikers find a tarp wrapped body near a hiking trail . Soon more are found nearby and Bree and her team find themselves in a race against time when a young woman with links to one of the victims is found to be missing.
Bree is willing to utilise all resources to find the girl especially the skills of her partner , Investigator Matt Flynn
What is the link between the victims , can they find the missing girl alive ? Matters are escalating at a pace ........ now the perpetrator is threatening Bree's family , can she keep them safe whilst continuing with the
investigation ?

This is the latest book featuring Bree , her family and colleagues - I love how she struggles to look after her family whilst nurturing her relationship with Matt and still managing a full time difficult job , with all it entails

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

It’s no secret I love these series. I mean what’s not to love; The love and respect between Bree, Matt, Kayla, Luke and Dana (not to mention, the rest of the awesome cast of regular characters). The suspenseful criminal investigation story line. And of course the side order of romance. What else can you ask for in a series?

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC. #Netgalley #OnHerWatch

Sheriff Bree Taggert is back, this time hunting a serial killer who is dumping girls in a remote clearing in the woods. If that isn’t hard enough, the rain won’t stop and resources are stretched thin thanks to a flu outbreak. Can Bree and Matt catch the killer before another woman dies?

This is a continuation of the Bree Taggert series. Every time I read the latest book, it is like coming home. The characters are so engaging that I just want to know more about their stories. The mystery leaves you guessing until the last minute, and the end seems to come too soon.

I already can’t wait until the next book comes out! Melinda Leigh writes a good story!

Another wonderful installment in this series. I love how their relationship has settled in now that they live together. They are really just such a sweet family. The plot of the mystery was very intriguing and I loved that I wasn't able to figure it out. The scene of the rescue in the silo really made me feel like I was there in those horrible conditions.

One weird glitch thing was that at 77% into the book, or loc 3393 according to my Kindle, it seems like there is a part that got cut out or mushed together or something. It is when the wife approaches them after the husband shuts the door on them. It doesn't make sense and there is a weird part that says "S'We are"

I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy through Net Galley of On Her Watch . This story is outstanding . The characters are unique and interesting . The entire series is amazing . Sheriff Bree Taggert while arresting a mean drunk for domestic violence and assaulting an officer receives a 911 call hikers found a dead body . Bree calls her boyfriend and criminal investigator Matt Flynn to meet her at the scene . They soon discover more remains then they originally thought making them assume a possible serial killer . As they investigate they find danger close to home and more missing women they must work fast to stop the killings and catch who is behind all the madness and mayhem . I loved this intriguing and suspenseful story it kept my attention from start to finish . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Book 8 in the Bree Taggert series follows Sheriff Bree Taggert and her family. In this one, Bree becomes the object of obsession for a serial killer which puts her life and that of her family in danger.

Melinda Leigh is such a solid author. On Her Watch has just the right amount of suspense and very little gory details, in case that isn’t your thing. The author makes me feel for the characters and I became just as concerned for the safety of her family as Bree is. The story is compelling and kept me engaged and wanting to get to the end to find out if I was right about who-dun-it.

I continue to enjoy this series about Bree and love her and I really love her and Matt together. This plot wasn't one of my favorites of the series and was a little more forgettable. However I still enjoyed my time with it and will continue to read the series for sure!

Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for the eARC.
This was my first book in the series and it's a decent police procedural with some very nasty murders, but a nice group of characters, especially Bree, Matt, the kids and the lovely dogs.
The serial killer aspect of the book was my least favorite part of the read; I've grown bored with that trend. Bree's family and team make up for that a little, though.

Melinda Leigh, I continue to and will continue to return to read your series about Bree Taggert. I love her storyline and the way she continues to develop. Bree's always faced with new challenges, but this time around her experience felt less inter-office tense and more like "life". The station has many folks out with the flu that's making it rounds and while Bree is desperately avoiding the flu, it nonetheless finds its way into her home when the kids both come down with it. Matt has moved in and this is the first time they are both called on to handle sick kids. Watching the way these two grow together and individually is always great to read.

Meanwhile, hikers have found a body in a clearing and when Bree gets to the scene it's clear there is more than first meets the eye. One body can be considered an isolated incident, but three? It looks like Sheriff Taggert has a serial killer on her hands and although the higher ups and politicians don't want to say so, Bree's gut is telling her they have a serial killer on their hands and they are escalating.

Bottom line for me is that I am invested in this series. I anxiously await each new book and then get sad when I realize the wait for the next will be quite awhile. I'm going to be sad when the series ends, but thankfully, I think Leigh has at least one more book (if not more) to write about Bree.

Thank you so much to Montlake and NetGalley for granting me access to this title!

This is a five-star read that will keep you on your toes. This is number eight in the Bree Taggert series, and each one builds and develops on the story. The more we get to know Bree, Matt, Dana and the kids as well as the extended families they will keep warming your heart. This story is hard, and when you get to the bottom of it, you see the true darkness and that’s hard, but the way this author deals and pulls you in, wraps you into a cocoon makes you feel insulated and protected by the sheriffs badge, even though you really shouldn’t as when you read, you realise that its Bree’s heart not badge that protects everyone. There are twists and turns a plenty in this one much like the previous stories, and in true fashion you won’t see it coming until it’s too late, but will you make the end in time.

Thank you to NetGalley, Montlake Publishing and, of course, Melinda Leigh for the arc I recently read. I love the Bree Taggert series, and I am glad that it is not coming to an end yet. Bree and Matt, along with Luke, Kayla and the others give off a sense of family, respect and love. This series continues to hold my attention with each new book, and the character development is wonderful. Thoroughly enjoyed the suspense and mystery in this book, and I am looking forward to the next.

On her Watch is another fast paced suspenseful thriller in the Sheriff Bree Taggart and investigator Matt Flynn series. Whilst their relationship living together is now stronger than ever with a flu epidemic in progress Bree is extremely short staffed and working flat out.
When three female bodies are found in various stages of decomposition Bree realises she has a serial killer on the loose. Added to this are reports coming in of other women being reported missing.
As the investigation proceeds we are taken on a page turning journey of discovery and shocks. The action and revelations never stops. With a great cast of characters that are lovely or loathsome their depth adds much to this book
The ending is as shocking and exciting as one expects from this author. Yet another satisfying wonderful read.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

I received an ARC but that doesn't influence the rating i provide.

First of all, i enjoy Melinda Leigh. Her writing feels like a well written mystery procedural, which is sometimes just what I'm in the mood for. I hadn't read this series before, and didn't know when I picked this up that I would be well in the middle of a series, but I'm still glad I'm giving it a try and may go back and start from the beginning.

I enjoyed the characters. There was a romance in here, but that didn't take away from the plot and it wasn't a YA type romance but rather a mature one interrupted by life and, well... death.

The story itself was creepy but good, didn't leave me unsettled but I enjoyed reading it. It's not cozy, but it's my kind of cozy reading!

Of course, I jumped on the ARC for On Her Watch when I saw it was available on NetGalley. As it is the eighth book in the Bree Taggert series, you'd think I would start being tired of it, but not in the least! I love the characters more than ever, and the plot was amazing! As always, Melinda Leigh did not disappoint.

The latest Bree Taggert murder/mystery opens with the discovery of a body drop site found by a couple of hikers who quickly become suspects in the investigation. Each of the three young women are found at various stages of decomposition, making identification a nightmare for the sheriff’s team.

Bree has her hands full with news-hungry reporters, distraught parents, and pressure from counselors to find the killer. Added to that, a rampaging flu decimates her staff, and a case of domestic abuse brings up the past for Bree. Is it any wonder she feels pulled in a hundred directions?

The author softens what could be a hard-boiled police mystery by showing Bree’s devotion to her young niece and nephew (under her care after the death of Bree’s sister), and the growing relationship between her and investigator Matt Flynn. These are my favorite parts of the story, though guessing who the killer is fun too 🙂

I’m really enjoying this series and highly recommend it to readers who like police procedural stories.

“I voluntarily read an ARC of this book which was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.”
