I read this after reading the next novel in the series, accidentally, and so already recognised some of the characters. This, I think, added to the reading rather than taking away from it but I wouldn’t recommend doing it in that order because of spoilers (the second comes a few months later). However, it was great to add some detail to now familiar characters and I did enjoy the plot overall.

Corkscrew You by Catherine Robertson is a delightful gem in the realm of contemporary romance, set to be published in July 2024. This novel masterfully intertwines beloved tropes such as grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lovers, small town romance, and the irresistible "he falls first" scenario. Robertson's skillful storytelling brings the charming small town to life, with characters that are both endearing and relatable. The chemistry between the grumpy, brooding protagonist and the cheerful, optimistic counterpart crackles with tension and undeniable attraction. The evolution from adversaries to lovers is beautifully paced, filled with witty banter, heartfelt moments, and swoon-worthy romance. Corkscrew You is a heartwarming and thoroughly enjoyable read that will leave readers rooting for love and eagerly turning the pages.

In "Corkscrew You," Shelby is determined to keep her late father’s beloved winery in business, but that means dealing with Nate, who she forms an irrational hatred of somehow even before she knows he exists, by denting his car for parking in a space that she *might* have been told to park in. I think Shelby is meant to be some kind of late-20s modern Anne Shirley, but she comes off as bratty and dangerously incompetent most of the time. Nate is pretentious and cliched, thinking in French and driving (now-dented) Porsches, but he gets over his enemies-to-lovers thing very quickly. After the first 25%, I was skimming to the sex scenes, which are quite spicy and a bit kinky, which I guess is on brand for these two characters. I have another book to review from this author, so here's hoping the next installment in the series will be different.

I wanted to so deeply love this story, but I ended up not finishing it after two chapters. I think the story would’ve been much cleaner with a 3rd person narrator and the dual POV felt like two never ending streams of thought. It felt poorly edited, and the writing just felt like a 13 year old at best.

Unfortunately I really didn't like this book and therefore I DNFed it at about 30% in. I found the characters to be very annoying and the writing style was very childlike.

Delightful! If you loved the Vine Mess series by Tessa Bailey, you will love this Flora Valley series as well!

I made it to page 20 and i just couldn’t anymore. This isn’t a book in my opinion. It’s the main character rambling on and on about her inner thoughts and there is literally nothing else. Very few dialogue and yeah… it would be a better book if it had actual stuff in it.

I DNF at 25%. The enemies to lovers was wayyyy to fast. They didn't have time to be enemies they had drinks and kissed the first day at her winery. The pacing is way to fast, at 20% he already thinks hes in love? The non-swear words are giving me an ick and I don't think I'll survive the spicy scenes.

I thought the concept was interesting and the story line would be fun, but this missed the mark.

Let me start by saying, I really liked the premise and overall concept of this story! At times there was some good banter and relationship building, but most of the book felt a little disjunct and clunky. I think the writer is on the right path and just needs to work on a better flow to continue the storyline seamlessly.

This was such a fun read! Enemies-to-lovers is my favorite trope and Shelby and Nate were the best. I laughed quite a bit through this one at their antics. Loved it!

Shelby and her family hired Nate to help keep her family owned Flora Valley Wines running after her father passes away. She has to listen to nates tough love advice. This book had great tropes, such as

I absolutely loved this book and I couldn’t put it down it was just a beautiful book and I highly recommend reading it, you might need a tissue if you are an emotional person but it’s heartwarming too.

I absolutely loved the first 10 chapters of the book. Funny dialogue. Looks like it will be a nice slow burn where they are tempted but hold back because they are working together. 2 chapters later he is head over heels and they are heading off to bed together and now that’s all we hear about. This could have been an amazing book given more plot development.

i wanted to like this one so bad. The concept sounded like so much fun. But I just couldn't connect with the characters. It was really difficult how the FMC wouldn't curse, and used cheesy sayings instead. It made her come off as childish. It also was hard to relate with the MMC and how he was declaring being in love without the two characters really interacting.

The small-town charm of Flora Valley and the witty, authentic dialogue make this a must-read. Robertson's humor shines through, making me laugh out loud while rooting for Shelby and Nate's happily ever after. A heartfelt and fun journey from enemies to lovers!

I tried REALLY hard to like this, because I love everything about the premise, the wine world, and especially an enemies-to-lovers/grumpy vs sunshine romance, but there was really nothing about this that ended up being believable.

The main character, Shelby, talks like a 15-year old, and seems to have the maturity of one as well. Then all of a sudden she’s a pro in bed but calls his “thing” a “boinky-boink”? I think it was meant to be endearing, but it came across as awkward and uncomfortable.

I did like Nate as a character and felt like his moments of introspection were relatable, but then he’s all of a sudden, head-over-heels in love with another woman in just a few days? After being left at the alter from a four-year relationship? Sorry, but no.

Like I said, I tried to give this one the benefit of the doubt, but I DNF’d at the halfway point. I probably would have done it sooner, but like to give ARCs more time and consideration.

Great concept, not so great execution.

I'm actually giving this one 3.75 stars, and rounding up for Goodreads and NetGalley. This was a solid story. And while the pacing didn't always work for me, and some of the "quirks" were annoying and not endearing, I still managed to finish it within a day. And when I walked away due to competing responsibilities, I was imagining what was going to happen next. So technically, while I thought the story had some problems, clearly there was enough "there" there. 😍

When I first read the book's summary, I was genuinely excited. It seemed to promise the same vibe as Tessa Bailey’s "Unfortunately Yours," with the wine theme. I am so sorry to say this was far from that.

Shelby, the main character, is faced with the burden of saving her family’s winery after her father's passing. To secure much-needed funding, she reluctantly agrees to a condition from an investor: Nate, the male lead, takes charge of the business side while she focuses on winemaking. Despite her reservations, Shelby goes along with it to protect her family's legacy, and that's where Shelby and Nate’s story begins.

This story lacked depth, and was incredibly boring. I don't like instalove and Nate was the absolutely worst in this. This book could have been something more as it has potential but I could not get through it. 🥲
