Ahhhhh this was just such a great read. I just didn't want this book to end and I was sad to turn the last page. I'm so excited to see what's next from this author.

I so enjoyed this story. It really had some funny moments and some poignant ones also. Living in the past is never a good thing. Taking that out on others can be worse.
While in the case for Billie and Mason. Mason is a man in New Zealand that buys a historical home to a small community that they cherish and he wants to modernize it with new and better. Then, he moves onto the next home he flips. Never likes to be in one place very long. As he has his own demons, he trying to outrun all the time.
He needs a P.A. but can’t seem to keep one. He pays well enough but works them to death with the hours and demands. Not only do they have to live at the sight and cook. They still have to do all the jobs he requires as a P.A. and works sometimes twenty-two hours a day. As he does to himself. Signing a contract to the devil gives her life for a kidney and plasma.
By the time Billie shows up to the job site, she is now to be called number forty-two and counting for him. The reason being she knows this because Mason refuses to call her by her name in case she quits too he doesn’t risk getting too close. So, she fixes that by him every name but his own. Some are just too funny.
The sexual tension between these two if off the charts from day one. The banter is sexual foreplay. The names and full-on arguments make it a fast read. A must-read!

This is the first book by Hayson Manning that I have read, and I enjoyed it! Billie is desperate for a job to save some money to go to culinary school. She accepts a job at the old “Wuthering Heights” house in town, working for Mason. Mason is a real estate man, who remodels older homes to meet the custom and specific needs of his clients. Billie doesn’t realize he plans to demolish the home when she signs her employment contract. She’s devastated by this revelation and determined to find a way for Mason to see the real value the old place has without demolishing it.

I loved how Mason is such a demanding boss, that he doesn’t call his assistants by their name, rather by their number. Billie is number 42! I loved how Billie would not call Mason by his name since he can’t be bothered to learn hers! She showed that although she had a hard time in life, she was a strong woman who was able to stand up to Mason and his demands. When we learn why Mason is the way he is, I felt sad for him. But I was glad that Billie helped him through and they were great together for their HEA. I also enjoyed the addition of Billie’s dog and how he fit into their lives as a whole family.

A great read, I loved both characters so really wanted them to be happy, but they both had issues they needed to work through before they could move on with each other.

Reading this reminded very quickly how much I love Hayson Manning, gifted storyteller and you can always count on some wicked humor woven in!
Mason is the man you're going to love to hate. He's bossy, pushy, driven and overly determined to succeed at all costs. Billie who is divorced, in need of a job applies for the position for two reasons, one being she needs the money to go to culinary school, second she hopes to change his mind about the house and town and make him see how important the place is. Since Max has burned through 41 assistants already he aptly calls Billie #42. Not Billie, 42. Billie in kind, calls him whatever name is on the tip of acerbic tongue at the moment. It's hilarious. Her inner dialogue throughout the whole book kept me laughing. The title assistant also entails cooking for Max. The do all, be all, end all.
He keeps ungodly hours and is exhausting just to deal with him. We get to meet the town folks and Billie's friends. No one will speak to Max. The way they deal with him is thigh master slapping funny. Billie really attempts to ease Max into the beauty of the place, what the house and grounds mean to the locals and we get a lovely view of small town living in NZ.
As hard as Max works, his own story unfolds as to why he's so surly and driven, Billie is also working her magic on the side to try to save the house and keep Max content. A good job done, but doesn't come off without some hitches.
I absolutely adored this story and love Hayson. Solid plot, abundant humor and two well written characters, along with the townsfolk will have you turning the pages until the very end. I read this in one swoop, I did not want to put it down! And remind myself to go back and read the rest of Hayson's books in my library but she's so worth multiple reads! Loved it!

Mason and Billie draws you in to this dynamic story. he is a man married to his work and holing on to a painful past. Billie is divorced and working towards earning enough money to enter culinary school. As they work closely together, Billie is slowly tearing down the walls around Mason's heart. Do these two have a chance for a redo in life together? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Winning the Boss's Heart was a quick, sweet read. Billie just got hired as Mason's 42nd assistant. She needs the job, but she wishes he would have mentioned that he intended to completely remodel and sell the historic house that's the backbone of her town. He kept that to himself until she already signed the 12 week contract. Now Billie needs to stop him from destroying the historic site, put up with his outrageous schedule, and avoid falling in love with the sexy workaholic.

It's obvious where Winning the Boss's Heart is going, but that didn't keep me from enjoying it. I adored the banter between Billie and Mason. He calls her 42 instead of by name (it's easier), and as a response she calls him just about every male name out there except his own. Of course, they both have to be attracted to each other and fighting it until a night when they're trapped together and can't do work. It's not all sunshine and rainbows though, since Mason is stuck in the past and views Billie as a convenient hookup. Not what she wants to hear at all! Obviously, they work it out though, after several more fumbles on both of their parts.

I liked Winning the Boss's Heart a lot. There's even a sweet doggie thrown in the mix! I liked how Billie still did her job, while also finding a way to save that house which everyone loves without being underhanded or malicious. It would have been hard to root for her otherwise. In the end, everyone gets what they want.
