This is a great commentary on 1-3 John! I used it during a teaching series and it came in very handy. I love the outlines of the text that the author provides at the beginning of each new chapter/passage. Jobes provides a succinct and clear summary of each passage in the epistles of John. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to study or know more about John's epistles!

Jobes is an excellent scholar, and I have benefited from her studies in 1 and 2 Peter. She is accessible and valuable here, too.

Well worth the price and read; good modern understandable commentary on these letters usable by both pastors and other Christians desiring growth

I have a pretty high opinion of Karen Jobes based on other books of hers that I have read. This one is no different. She is an extremely capable communicator and she understands some of the deep cultural background that makes her a very capable commentator. Add to that the strengths that this particular series brings with its focus on graphical layout and being an intermediate between a mere devotional commentary and an overly academic one...I highly recommend you taking the time to work through this book...if you have any love for John's letters at all.
