This premise is interesting, but I have chosen to abandon after hearing that the author falsely claimed to be Native American and was debunked. I cannot support an author like that.

Well, this wasn’t it. I really wanted to love this, but in the end it didn’t delivered on any fronts.
The book suffered from the fact there’s no other characters besides the two protagonists, and so it quickly became stagnant. Every conversation was repeated over and over again, they had no other outlets to their problems.
I understand and sympathise with Isi’s feelings, but your entire support system can’t be a single person, you can’t resent her for living her life, that’s just toxic in both a friendship and a romantic relationship.
Also, how stunning Louise’s boobs are, is mentioned at least a hundred times, often in moments where you don’t really want to be taken out by what’s happening story wise.
It had a great potential, but didn’t follow through.

This was a fine read and had a cool premise upon requesting it. The premise fell a little flat for me as the author potentially shouldn't be telling indigenous stories?

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.

Did we not read Yellowface?

DNF after finding out the author has falsely said she is Native. These books need to be pulled when so many authors who are actually Native have such a hard time getting their books traditionally published. Especially when multiple Native organizations have reached out to this author to tell the truth,

I enjoyed the beginning of the book, but unfortunately, I won't continue as this book has been pulled due to the author lying about their race.

Book got pulled before I could even download it. I got approved yesterday and went to download it and it was gone

I read the first book “If I Stopped Haunting You” and enjoyed it very much! So I was so excited to get the ARC for this book and I have to say I enjoyed it just as much! It was a true friends to lovers sapphic romance and I just absolutely loved Isi and Louise’s love story! The two women are both bad ass archaeologists and long time best friends who are incapable of voicing how they feel about each other. The tension was truly fabulous! You root for them the entire time and when it finally happens, damn is it sexy!!! The spice was phenomenal and to see these two come together while also simultaneously trying to hunt a treasure that Isi’s Mom went missing trying to solve was so cool! Such a fun idea for a story and I devoured this!

I was looking forward to this book, but I cannot read and review it. Now that’ this book is being pulled, I want to spend time reading and sharing about books by authors who don’t lie about their ancestry.

Isi and Louise are trying to find treasure in the mountains before some treasure hunters with guns find it. From being kidnapped, to escaping, to trying to hide their feelings for each other. This book has it all. Adventure, entertainment and some 🔥🔥. I also loved that Laszlo made a brief appearance!

Choosing not to read this now with what has come out in the last week and due to this book being pulled. I want to read books by actual native authors.

I found that I liked the characters connection but the story just wasn't for me. I do love the cover.

welp. this one was pulled from publication, and with the whole thing swirling around that the author has been lying about her heritage, i'm gonna pass rn, nothing against SMP.

I refuse to review this book based on the fact that the author feels that it’s okay to lie
about Native descent. This is nothing against the publisher or the agency.

Thank you and I hope we can work together in the future.

I really liked the cover and blurb of If I Dig You and was excited to read this story. However, after certain things came to light about Colby Wilkens (for instance check out the Tribal Alliance Against Frauds and the New York Post articles), I cannot in good conscience support this author. This book was also pulled from publication per the author‘s last instagram post and it’s questionable if this book will ever release again.

I won't be reading or reviewing this book after the current issues going on with the author. Impersonating an indigenous person in order to further your career is so gross and when caught, she didn't even take accountability.

I was so excited for this book, but ultimately let down by the writing style. The characters and their emotions didn't feel believable and took me out of the story.

TAAF has recently released a report that Colby Wilkens's claims of Cherokee and Choctaw ancestry cannot be verified. Using your "ancestry" is a problem when 1) it hasn't been proved, 2) appropriated/used as a core part of that person's identity, and 3) used for marketing and profit.

Find a real Native American author to read and support!

i'm not going to read a book by someone who pretends to be native american -- DNFed and deleted from my kindle, sorry!

Since this book has been pulled from publication, I'm not planning to continue reading it, making it a DNF. It's a bummer, since as an archaeologist, I was excited to see more archaeology-themed stories out in the world, and I thought this would be a really great one when it came to reclaiming cultural heritage.

Though I appreciate being given an ARC to review, I will no longer be doing so in light of the recent allegations regarding the author and the announcement that the book is being pulled from publication.
