Honest, tender, and refreshingly real—The Relationship Mechanic dives into healing and love with depth, humor, and emotional clarity.

I went into The Relationship Mechanic curious about its fresh take on relationships, and while the concept—treating relationships like a mechanic fixes a car—is clever, the execution didn’t fully win me over. The advice is practical and straightforward, but at times it felt a bit clinical and repetitive, which made the emotional side of things feel flat. I wanted more depth and warmth to balance the structure.

That said, listening to Laly Lauret narrate really changed the experience for me. Her warm, clear, and engaging voice brought energy and personality to the material, making even the drier sections more approachable and easier to follow. She paced the story beautifully and added just the right nuance, which kept me hooked when the book itself might have lost me. Honestly, her narration elevated the whole thing and made the listen genuinely enjoyable. So, while the book had its ups and downs, Laly’s fantastic narration made it well worth the time.

This book was cute! It didn't rock my world or anything but I definitely enjoyed it. The main characters were easy to root for and the book was well narrated. I love a small town romance and the setting of this book was really darling. I did feel like the chemistry between the two leads was a bit lacking, which made their relationship feel a bit flat- especially since it was very insta-lust. Overall it was still worth reading!

This was such a fun read! I loved her other novel and this one was similar! The story moved quickly, the FMCs were falling in love from page one, and it was electric. I want to read her other books in the future.
I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Overall I liked this book, it didn’t knock me off my feet but it did give me a good laugh and I did enjoy getting to know the characters and their love story. Overall I would rate it 3.25/5 stars and would recommend as a quick read.

4.5 stars rounded up. This was a fast-paced easy to listen to romcom style audiobook. This series reminds me of the Bright Falls series. I enjoyed the plot and pacing of this book much better than book one, although I did enjoy The 7-10 Split too. I really enjoyed both of the main characters, especially Vini. The narrator of the audiobook was much better than the first book. Her voice kept me immersed in the story and I liked how she read the characters' dialogue in a very expressive and natural way.

It felt very instant love, which is usually a no for me, and I felt like there was more focus on spicy time than getting to know each other in several places in the book.

I loved that we had two black leads that were self sufficient and individual in their own way, and I liked the cast of characters we got from the town.

While I am glad I finished the book, this story did capture me like I hoped it would.

This was such a fun and horny FF romance! Mechanic & audiobook narrator, small town vibes, big family that cares, instant chemistry between the leads.

The narration was great, the chemistry worked so well, vibes were vibing! Enjoyable listen :)

Thank you to NetGalley for the ALC of this book!

I was first drawn in by this cover. It's GORGEOUS. And I really enjoyed reading about Vini in the first book.

This one is well written and sweet and sapphic and lovely and I enjoyed the story!

It did fall a little flat for me in that most of the emotional depth comes towards the end. There are a lot of spicy scenes in this book that could have given way for a deeper connection and vulnerability between the characters that I felt like was missing.

This was a cute and quick read with a 3rd arc breakup that did not make me want to fight anyone. I liked that Jessica is of mixed race but it doesn't become a "thing" of the story. Her and Vini are able to just be people.

It took a while for me to really feel the spark between Jessica and Vini. I was happy that they were pretty communicative about themselves except for when it started to feel too real. Seeing everyone knew about them (sans Ava) but them was hilarious. Her blowup was annoying but I'm glad she came around quickly enough that it wasn't a large part of the story.

The ending was cute. Shoutout to Jessica's parents for slapping her awake and for the reuniting in the same way they met each other. This would make a cute movie!

Solid 3.5.

This book was so FUN! I really enjoyed the dynamics between the two MCs. The banter and bickering was just too perfect. Plus a female mechanic is ALWAYS a great idea.

Really fun book. Definitely going to look for more work from Karmen Lee!

This was unfortunately not for me. I would recommend this to someone looking for a lighthearted and cozy small town romance with a good amount of spice. But for me it was a little *too* cozy. I tend to like romances that are lighthearted and goofy, but do have an emotional core.

The narrator did a good job creating different voices for all of the characters and matched the tone of the book.

I am absolutely adoring everything Karmen Lee puts out.

A few things I loved…
- the length & pacing
- sapphic mechanic? Sign me up & pop my tires I am SAT.
- small town cozy romance
- THE CHEMISTRY!!!!!

I enjoyed the character development, especially with the over protective older siblings having to realize the younger one is an adult too!!!

I really enjoyed The Relationship Mechanic! This is a very spicy sapphic romance that starts when Jessica's rental car breaks down on her way to visit a small town and the lady mechanic who helps her out is very, very good looking!

I thought this story was smart, fun, and immensely relatable. And I was particularly impressed by how well written the romance was! I can't wait to recommend this to friends and followers.

The daughter of an actress heading to a small town to escape a recent scandal and a cute mechanic hit it off and have a fling in this fun, spicy romance. Jessica has sworn off flings for the duration of her stay in Peach Blossom, Georgia. But she throws out that plan pretty much instantaneously after meeting the town's cute mechanic when her rental car breaks down. Vinnie's instant attraction to Jessica makes falling in bed with her easy, but when she starts to feel more the easy fun they've been having becomes a lot more complicated. Jessica still isn't sure what to do with the feelings she has for Vinnie. With an end date fast approaching on her time in Peach Blossom, will they be able to figure out what they want--and what they're willing to sacrifice--for the chance at something more?

Sweet, spicy, and sapphic--just the way I like it!

Delightful small town sapphic romance that is equally sexy and cozy! The Relationship Mechanic follows Vinny, the owner of an auto repair shop, falling for a woman who is only in town for a few weeks and never settles anywhere. Jessica is hiding from the fallout of being caught with two of her actress mom's co-stars, staying with a friend for a few weeks.

The chemistry between the two is instant. What's between them is only supposed to a short term, no-strings-attached fling, but hearts get more involved than anyone planned on. I really enjoyed this, and I also like how it addresses over-protective older siblings needing to realize the younger ones are adults who can make their own choices. I didn't love the audio narrator though, especially for how spicy this book gets. She sounded very matter of fact, like reading off a list of things happening instead of evoking the feelings of the characters if that makes sense. Otherwise though, the actual story was good. I received an audio review copy via NetGalley, all opinions are my own.

I wasn't aware that this was a book 2 when I signed up for it but it worked well as a standalone.

A sapphic romance with women of color. A situationship at its finest. Steamy scenes, playful banter, and a cozy little town. I do wish we had gotten to know the characters more, they seemed a little one dimensional but overall I really enjoyed.

I received an audio copy of this book. The characters were easily distinguishable and the narrator was easy to listen to at an increased speed.

I unfortunately listened to 15% of this and just can't get into it. I was really excited for this too. I’m not sure if its the narrator or the writing, it just isn't a good fit for me.

This book moves super fast (which I get it's less than 300 pages), so I'm not sure if I blinked and missed some of the set-up or it just wasn't there. Jessica was really an enigma of a character and I felt like all through the story more little pieces of lore and information of her got dropped, but I felt like something was missing when they all came together.

I get that they are an opposites attract & small town girl x city girl but I felt like how secretive and almost forbidden them hooking up was treated didn't really make sense to me. But boy was I PISSED off with Ava's reaction when she discovers about the two of them. Major ick.

I just felt like something was missing with this for me, but I think if you are looking for a quick and fun read you'd enjoy this book. Thank you Harlequin Audio for an ALC of The Relationship Mechanic.
