+ The book gives off Pretty Woman and Maid in Manhattan movie vibes. It involves Abi who is the maid, who agrees to be a fake girlfriend for Declan, a rich guy, for a shareholders event.

+ This story is a very quick-read and light-hearted romance. It has some tropes that romance readers will enjoy like fake-dating and forced proximity. I don’t know if Declan is a billionaire, but he must definitely be a multi-millionaire because of his family’s company.

+ Abi is a bright personality and I thought it was cute seeing how Declan starts to fall for her. I thought they were funny together, especially when they had to tell stories about how they met. This was a closed door romance.

~ It followed the storyline of Pretty Woman pretty closely, minus the FMC being a prostitute. So it’s predictable.

~ I kind of wanted more from Abi’s character – she’s miss sunshine, but she’s always going through some things like struggling to pay off her student loans. She’s also in the process of writing a book, and doesn’t have the best relationship with her mother but there isn’t really depth in this book. The romance overshadows it all which is fine because it’s supposed to be light-hearted, but I personally I just wanted more.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, I thought this was cute and funny at times but it left me still wanting more. If you want a light-hearted, easy to read romance, then check this one out.

Abi and Declan are such sweetheart. But, is it wrong I’m crushing on Roman instead?

Lynn Painter did it again. It’s cute and fluffy. Who knew a bouquet of epipens and inhaler could be romantic? The dialogue is fast-paced and banter forward. Some chapters conveyed overlapping information, like the charity that Declan was hiding. In the last chapters, Lauren came in to tell Abi about Roman’s secret project but we already knew that from his pov chapter. It would create more suspense if that is the first time readers know about it too.

There were some plot holes, like Nana knowing Abi that didn’t come in full play for anything necessary. Although I could never forget how Benny’s is good for wholesale supplements :)

I like Abi and Declan together, and they have and could teach each other about different perspective in life. However, on their own, they seem a little unlikable. Abi keeps iterating about how Dec is rich, take it for granted. Basically, a nepo baby. But, we don’t see from Dec’s chapter refuting it either. She believes it too much that it pushes the narrative to the reader that he is a one dimensional character. It would be more challenging, if she realizes that even if Dec is rich, he is more than his money, more than something he is born with. Yes, having money is a privilege. How you act and what you do with it is how you not let it define you.

Overall, you can’t go wrong with any Lynn Painter’s book. The main characters’ chemistry is always sizzling. But, a revise on some overlapped info would make the story cohesive.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Lynn Painter for the ARC. All opinions are of my own.

I loooove Lynn Painter and Maid for Each Other did not disappoint! This book gave me all the Maid in Manhattan/Pretty Woman feels that I love about those 00’s era romcoms. It felt nostalgic but modern, it was just so fun. Lynn nailed the humor and banter, the chemistry was great and who doesn’t love a fake dating trope?!

A cross of Pretty Woman and Maid in Manhattan- Abi is bold, clever and extremely reliable. Declan is a resistant but pliable billionaire who at his core is just a regular guy. This is a comfort/cozy read that satisfies the Cinderella itch.

Abi is juggling school and two jobs when an apartment infestation leaves her temporarily homeless. So, she does what any broke, overworked grad student might—she crashes at the fancy penthouse she cleans. No big deal, right? Except Declan’s parents show up, assume she’s his girlfriend, and suddenly she’s playing along. When Declan realizes a fake girlfriend might actually help his career, they strike a deal. Pretend to date, keep up appearances, and absolutely do not catch feelings.
Abi is scrappy, determined, and hilarious, and her dynamic with Declan is pure rom-com gold. He starts off all business, but watching him unravel around her was so fun. The fake dating setup gets a little loose as their feelings grow, but the flirty tension and laugh-out-loud moments make up for it. The romance leans more sweet than spicy—closed-door with plenty of chemistry.
If you love a quick, feel-good read with sharp banter and a little chaos, this one’s for you. Lynn Painter delivers again!

I always have a fun time reading Lynn Painter. Though I tend to enjoy her YA books most, I still enjoy her adult romances. This was a fake dating/opposites attract romance that had me smiling big!

Abi is a student, part time cashier, and part time maid. It’s that maid job that gets her in trouble. And how she meets Declan. Declan is beyond wealthy but there is more to him than meets the eye.

I enjoyed the fake dating aspect of this book the most. I loved watching the two of them catch feelings for one another. They had so much chemistry from the start and the best banter. Maid for Each Other was truly a good time and I’m glad I read it!

thank you to netgalley and berkley publishing group for this eARC!

i thoroughly enjoyed this book! it had tons of my favorite tropes, all played very effectively.

a classic fake dating with a bit of a fun twist. i was a little worried about the power imbalance going into it, with him being essentially in control of her job, but that issue i actually feel like resolved itself pretty well and i didn’t feel that weird about it.

we’ve got a sort of grumpy/sunshine thing. their whole dynamic overall was quite fun to read. painter is very skilled in writing believable banter that makes her characters so fun to read.

we’ve also got the everyone around them loves the girlfriend and tells her embarrassing things about the partner imbedded in the fake dating. i did really like the supporting characters in this novel, and going to the events helped to situate myself in this world. they both felt like real people, which made watching their relationship develop much more fun.

this book was very cute and, having only read her ya stuff, exactly what i was expecting from a lynn painter adult romance. this book is a perfect easy romance read, and i would definitely recommend it!

I absolutely LOVED this book. It was everything I wanted in a book and more.

The MMC was a total dreamboat. I loved that is started with the vibes of grumpy x sunshine, but he quickly starting to give golden retriever energy. The banter between the characters was fun, new and witty. It made me laugh and giggle and even kick my feet! I also appreciated that the author didn't go overboard with the billionaire trope - that one just isn't my favorite and seems to be grossly overdone or misconstrued in other romance books.

The FMC was fun and relatable and engaging. I enjoyed being in her head and seeing her progression individually, and in her relationship with Declan. I feel like it was accurate to what I would feel or think which was refreshing for it to be so realistic!

I truly think this is my new favorite Lynn Painter book. It was just so perfectly done with Cinderella and Princess Diaries vibes. I loved every word.

I had so much fun with this book! And the banter was A-grade, top shelf stuff. I heartily recommend this book to others looking for an excellent rendition of the fake relationship trope. This one was really well done!

I like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me a read.

While I have read other books by Lynn Painter, I feel this one falls in-line with her last release 'Happily Never After'. Cute, but too mid.

I did enjoy our female lead, and she seemed like a sweet girl. Our male lead was too out of touch for her: a case of privilege. I never felt like he got down to her level. If anything she seemed to change herself to fit his ideal red-haired beauty.

I, too, felt that the misunderstanding was a little to dramatic and she should have talked to the male lead about what his friend proposed instead of ghosting him and not being up-front fully.

Lynn does better with her teen drama reads than her adult ones.

Lynn Painter had me at Better Than the Movies and continues to have me in a chokehold. This was cute as heck, I love a redhead FMC (represent!), and the Robin Hoodness of it all saved it from the excess of wealth dripping from the MMC. I love a dual POV, and it was actually refreshing to read about their utter dislike for each other for longer than usually happens in books. Not even a full lust-at-first-sight! I'll read anything Lynn writes; I hope she writes a thousand more books.

Abi cleans apartments for a living while she pursues a graduate degree, so when her apartment becomes inhabitable after an infestation, it seems only natural to spend a night or two at the empty home she cleans for a wealthy businessman who always seems to be out of town. But when his parents unexpectedly show up one morning and assume she's his girlfriend, that throws a wrench in things.

A absolutely bonkers premise but an utterly adorable book. I have never read anything by Lynn Painter that I haven't loved, and this book is no exception. It doesn't quite have the heart-tugging feels of her YA reads, and it requires some suspension of disbelief, but it did bring me joy and I was really rooting for our two leads. A feel-good romance that's a fun time, for sure.

Thanks to Berkley for my eARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Very Maid in Manhattan with Jennifer Lopez!! This was cute and a great way to cap of the crazy thriller I had just finished. Highly recommend if you need a poolside read this summer, that's not too serious.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️ (Open door spots - but not overly smutty)

This was so freaking adorable, it gave everything I want and love in a rom-com! Lynn Painter is the queen, and my comfort author, when it comes to romantic comedies. Equal parts swoon, laughing out loud, and heart 💜 *sigh* please never stop writing!

I devoured this in 2 days, honestly could’ve read in one sitting if time allowed. I was hooked right away and it was so easy to get lost in this story. I loved all of the characters, even the side characters! The romance was sweet, and developed in a believable way; and some family drama/trauma was weaved in so well. LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH!

“Go on a chocolate run because I’m catching feelings -- yes, that was what a reasonable, grown… man did.”

I have never met a Lynn Painter book that I didn’t like and this one is no exception. As expected, it was fun, flirty and full of amazing banter. There is something about Lynn’s writing that gets me every single time.

Forced from her apartment due to an unforeseen critter infestation, Abi, who works as a maid, ends up spending the night in the penthouse she cleans only to be awakened the next morning by the owner’s parents who are so excited to meet his new girlfriend. Declan may have bent the truth when he told his parents that he was seeing someone special but no one is more surprised than him when they tell him how much they enjoyed meeting his girlfriend, Abby.

Fake dating with a side of forced proximity… Yes, please! Overall I found this one to be super sweet. I loved the dual pov and was willing to overlook the insta-love because of the endearing characters and amusing storyline. Declan isn’t flashy or over the top and Abi is both quirky and adorable. If you are a fan of Lynn’s books then this is definitely another one you should add to your shelf!

Thanks to NetGalley and Berkley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first Lynn Painter book, and I totally get why people love her rom-coms. Maid for Each Other was a quick, easy read, super bingeable and perfect if you’re looking to escape reality for a few hours. The banter? Genuinely fun. It gave off those witty, back-and-forth vibes that make rom-coms hard to put down.

That said, the dynamic between the main characters didn’t totally work for me. The FMC was extremely harsh to the MMC—like, I’m all for eating the rich, but she was pretty judgmental for no real reason sometimes. And the romance happened FAST. I'm talking “I’m in love with you after two weeks” fast. If insta-love isn’t your thing, then this book is probably not for you.

This was still an entertaining read, and I’m interested in picking up more of Lynn Painter’s books in the future.

“Abi is a professional cleaner, so it’s ironic when she’s forced to move out because of an infestation in her building. Thanks, Apartment 2B! Declan is a busy man, working his way up at Hathaway Holdings. Which is why he’s never met the woman who cleans his penthouse every week. Abi needs a place to stay, and Declan is out of town, so the solution seems simple and, crucially, free. When Declan’s parents tell him they met his girlfriend at his apartment, he's surprised, to say the least. But it is nice to have them off his back about being single for a change. . . Declan finds out who Abi really is, and decides to make her pretend to date him, and he’ll provide everything she needs.“

This story is SO cute! If you can get over instant love. This is such a contemporary Cinderella retelling.

Lynn Painter's books seem to always have mixed reviews. I highly recommend this book. This book is definitely a mix between YA and Adult fiction. The spice is minimal, but towards the end, it does exist. I don't have any complaints, it was not too much for me.

SKIP CHAPTERS: 35, 38 for closed-door recommendation.

If you're looking for a cute, quick read, this would be perfect.
