Loved this sequel to Veronica Mars in book form. I loved that author stayed true to Veronica's snarkyness and attitude. That it was almost watching the show while reading this one.. |
I loved the TV show and really enjoyed the first book. But when I tried to read this sequel, I gave up pretty early on. I was not a fan of the change from first person POV in the first book to third person in this book. One of the great things about the TV show and the first book was having the story narrated by Veronica herself. Having it now be a story about her and not through her voice was strange and it didn't work for me. |
I really, really wanted to love this book cause duh its Veronica Mars. The show was one of my absolute favorites, I helped fund the movie (which I loved) and I enjoyed the first book in this series. I have to say though I was a bit disappointed in Mr. Kiss and Tell. I think it was good for sure, but I think it might have been too much packed into the book. I also wasn’t a fan of the way the book ended. I think that the Veronica I knew would have figured out a different way to get the bad guy. It would have been far more clever and less morally suspect, but maybe I’m wrong. Overall though the nostalgia is really what makes the book work. The moments between Veronica and her dad, with Logan and Wallace and Mac and even Leo. I would have actually liked to see Dick in the book instead of just hearing about him, but what can you do. I also felt like too much time was spent on the Weevil subplot that ended up not going in the direction I suspected. I like Weevil, but I’m not so sure about his decisions. While this wasn’t my favorite book, I will definitely read anymore that get written in the future. And I’m still holding out hope that we’re going to get more Veronica and gang either on my TV or on the big screen. Either way I need it and I need it now! |
I was disappointed in this title. It didn't live up to the first novel or the show and film. I will not be reviewing this on the blog. |
The writing has only gotten better! One thing that pissed me off: my NetGalley document ended in the MIDDLE OF A SENTENCE! And it was one that concerned a Veronica and Logan scene!!!!! Arghhh. *So yeah, I was wrong. It was complete, it just felt very abrupt for an ending, like something was missing. A very satisfying mystery, but not really for non-Marshmallows and cannot really be enjoyed without reading book #1 in this series first. |
