I love that this book has plenty of diverse characters! And girls who support each other! For fans of Walk on Earth a Stranger, this will be a surefire hit. |

I liked this historical adventure story about a Chinese-American teen and a black slave teen who escape their respective terrible circumstances and set off on the trail west in 1849. The tale is a nice blend of action and adventure, historical detail (especially interesting for the different reactions of travelers on meeting a Chinese person), and romance. It's easy to root for the strong heroines in this story and it was an enjoyable read. |
