This is a beautifully written historical romance with a compelling plot and well drawn characters. Very enjoyable.

In How to Beguile a Duke, the hero duke is determined for his line, and his father’s foul blood, to end with him. He’s swore off marriage and has surrendered the care of the ducal properties to his cousin, his heir. What the duke failed to plan for, was the arrival of Catherine into his life.

Catherine, a beautiful forthright heiress from the Bahamas, and most recently the Americas is a formidable foe. The duke thinks her a beguiling enchantress. In actuality, she’s honest, open and tenacious, all things for which the duke can’t seem to resist.

The meeting and subsequent bargain they strike throws them together more and more and with each meeting their feelings for each other grow. It’s a great not quite enemies to lovers tale.

The spirited Catherine Malboeuf has just arrived in England to reclaim her ancestral home, Walsley Manor, and a valuable missing heirloom. Nicholas Adair, the attractive and frustratingly inflexible Duke of Boulstridge, however, is quite unwilling to sell the estate back to Catherine. Unless, of course, she accepts a small wager...
Catherine is determined to win the wager that will see her mother's ancestral home returned to the family. It is after all her mother's dearest wish. If it means demeaning herself in London society then so be it.
Nick and Catherine are destined to become a couple. They are just meant to be.
This is a book full of danger and mystery. There is a surprise with every turn of the page

Pretty tepid most of the way through and then at 70% burst into flame.
