I was really excited to get into this one, but I think my mood really struck me with Sea of Stars. I wasn't quite connecting with this one and I had to DNF with the possibility of picking up in the future. Thank you for the opportunity to read the book and I apologize for the inconvenience.

This is a fantastic series! I took way too long to pick this one up , but I quickly was able to follow the story and fall back in love with all of the characters (yes, even the evil ones!).
I love the world development and science fiction through out the story , in addition to the romance building between Kricket and Trey, so well written that gave me chills.

This felt like a bit of a filler book for me, and it didn’t seem like much happened, other than just keeping Kricket safe, and discussing how brilliant her hair was. I found it really hard to keep track of what exactly was going on.

This book was available as a read now and I grabbed it based on a friends recommendation and not knowing it was book 2 in a series.

It's been a while since I read the first book in the series, so some of the details were a bit blurry when I started Sea of Stars. Kricket, the main character with the most *uhm* special name and also her very special character of course, has found her way up in the stars between two (or possibly more) warring alien species/gangs. (I say alien because that is what they say in the book, and they make tiny, stupid human jokes. However, the physical appearance of said aliens is like humans, but ultimately better, obviously).

Where in the first book I was mainly annoyed by A) annoying Kricket and B) the human-like, human-feeling aliens, this time around there was little time for any of that as the story is immediately in full swing. Jumping around from one fight to the next while all that she wants to do is bunk down with her (new?) (insta?) love interest (I seriously can't remember him from the first book, if he was in there). Near the end, the typical end of the second book in a series great revelation is revealed, which will carry the story to the concluding book, which I will probably read sometime soon.

Now, this was actually kind of a nice read, all things considered. It was an easy read, and the things that bothered my in the first book, didn't bother me so much any more. While I had the feeling not a lot happened in the book, it was exciting enough for me to keep reading. It was an easy and quick read and sometimes these are just what you need.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

wonderful second book, picking right up where the first book in this trilogy leaves of.

Its fast paced and has lots of actions but also doesn't leave the actual characters and trying to make the readers connect with them behind.
Wonderful mixture!

The writing is very readable and i found it really enjoyable!
Nice world building and great characters...

for me this is one of the most enjoyable trilogies -especially second books in such a series!- i have read in a long time!

I love Ms. Bartol’s writing style and love how she can suck me into these other worlds that she writes about. I am enjoying Kricket’s story immensely but there was something missing in this installment that I connected with in UDS. I am very excited to read DTS to see how her story will end.

I can go on for hours about how much I enjoyed Sea of Stars, but I don’t want to spoil anything for any of you. Just do yourself a favor and read the series!

Eighteen-year-old Kricket Hollowell was looking for her place in the world when she discovered that the universe was bigger—and more dangerous—than she had ever dreamed. Now, whisked across space to the planet Ethar, Kricket learns that her genetic ability to see the future makes her a sought-after commodity…and the catalyst for war between her star-crossed parents’ clans. According to Alameedan prophecy, one house will rise to power and the other will be completely wiped out, and Kricket’s precognition is believed to be the weapon that will tip the scales.
A target of both the Rafe and the Alameeda houses, Kricket finds protection—and a home—in the arms of Trey, her Etharian bodyguard-turned-boyfriend. But her visions of what’s to come disturb her deeply, especially since she must discover whether the gift of foresight will allow her to rewrite the future, or if her fate is as immovable as the stars.

This was pretty much a DNF - I skipped enough of this book to have at least finished it quickly.

There was just too much wrong with this book for me that I wouldn't even bother now to finish the series. Turned into a sex-fest with no apparent plot - well, the carbon-copy of the first book is a plot, I guess.

Sea of Stars picks up where Under Different Stars ends. Rafe and Alameeda continue to fight against each other and tensions are at a high. That’s all great, but the main and heart of the book is Trey and Kricket’s love for each other. There was never a dull moment with them. The majority of the book focuses on Trey and Kricket’s relationship and that’s what hit it for me.

You will love Trey hard, if you had mild feelings for him, it will be piping hot after you finish this book. He really steps his game up and he does everything he can to protect Kricket so that he can be with her. Kricket has the same feelings for him, but Kyon is there and he wants Kricket as well. Kyon will stop at nothing to have Kricket as his and I’ll be honest, this was super-hot for me. Kyon is a villain you love to hate. I love his possessiveness over Kricket and a part of me was rooting for him too.

“My desire for him is insane. He’s not sentimental—neither of us is—and yet he says things to me that strike at the core of my being and speak to the fighter in me. He makes me crave him in the most vulnerable way. I can’t lose him—ever.”

“I’m the dark secret that he can’t keep hidden—his crossed fingers—his hold-my-breath-to-keep-from-feeling. But I make him feel everything.”

“I have a paper heart and he has written notes all over
it.”

Then of course there is Kricket herself. She is such a strong character as she pushes through everything that has come at her during her time in Ethar.

This series just keeps getting better and better. This book was much better than I expected it would be! I am sad to read the next book in the series as I know the next book is the last in the series. I already don’t want it to end. I really enjoy reading the love between Trey and Kricket, but I also kind of want to see that Kricket and Kyon are like together.

I thought this was the first in a series so it was really confusing for me. Once I realized my mistake it all made sense so unfortunately for me it was my fault why I couldn't get into it
