Great read, well written with a great plot and characters. I was engrossed from start to finish with each story. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Netgalley.

You will never look at fairy tales the same way again. I think one my favorites was the take on Little Red Riding Hood. If you like Fairy Tales , you have to read this book and believe in them as well. Great book, great authors. I received this book from Net Galley for a honest review and no compensation otherwise.

Who doesn't love fairy tales? These give a great spin on the originals and help you call in love again with them.

What an incredible collection of fairytales. I adored some of them. Here are the ones that I particularly liked, though they were all decent and well-written:

"The Warlord and the Nightingale"

Loved, loved this one. I'm a huge fan of Jeannie Lin and it was such a nice change from a traditional European fairytale to a Japanese retelling. It had a very steampunk vibe, which I enjoyed. The heroine was incredibly fearless toward the end.

“A Happily Ever After Of Her Own”

This story is adorable, It is a loving parody of all the fairytales, and the heroine is "on trial" for accidentally sending Belle/Beauty to the real world. Of course, she ends up falling in love with the Beast while they try to find her...

"What Big Teeth You Have"

This was a very PNR retelling of Red Riding Rood, complete with vampires. I kinda loved that the main couple was already married and this almost felt like a marriage-in-trouble story.

I received a free copy of this book on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

This was a pretty mixed bag of stories? None of them really stood out to me, which was unfortunate, considering how much I love fairytales and romance.

Many thanks to the team that made this collection available for review long after its release, that's love! I promise to try to be fair and please fellow reader don't let me rain on your parade if you love this *hugs*

This collection is middle of the road. Not the worst but unfortunately far from the best.
Some stories were cringe worthy but it was the lack of cohesion and flow that worked against the overall collection for me.

As someone said it on Twitter, I am not overwhelmed, not underwhelmed, I am just whelmed .

The good :
•The book is as advertised, it's a collection of novella that offer a new spin on a well known fairy tails.

•They offered a variety of takes with different styles, there is a (weeaboo-ish) steampunk spin of the retelling of The Nightingale for instance, a fun sleepwalker crashing the Beauty and the Beast, a contemporary retelling of Cinderella etc...

The less Good:
Lack of Cohesion as I said. I believe it was a mistake to start off with the warlord and the nightingale . And I wouldn't have included the Cinderella story in *this* collection.

The terrible:
Listen I 'll be cryptic and those who get it will see what I mean and those who dont, won't have their fun ruined.
> Tensai-desu (Please kill me So. Much. Cringe)
>(in the sweltering heat of New York) sucking toes with pantyhose still on...
>A secondary godmother like character named Conchita who has janitorial duties..

I 'll stop here and give this book a 2.75/5 and must admit that I leave it with some authors to avoid rather than a new fav.

Cheers !!
Xxxx

Some of these stories were fun and the others not so much. I found myself skimming a bunch of pages because errors make it hard for stories to flow and a lot make it impossible to read.
Also I wasn't really feeling the characters in some of these stories.
I'd say overall good but not great.

I love the theme of fairy-tales and felt I would really enjoy this collection.

The stories are hit or miss though. Some are fantastic and some read like first drafts.

Overall, a great bargain for 99 cents. Worth a look.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is such a great collection of short stories! It has given me new authors to look for. I love how they all have some sort of fairy tale tie in.

'The Warlord and the Nightingale' by Jeannie Lin

This was probably the most boring book I've ever read.
Weird insta love ✔
Literally no character development✔
Ugh✔

Would not recommend.

The fairytale theme behind these books are fun, but I found some to be a bit too crude for me. Also, the writing left something to be desired.

I absolutely adored this book, which was both a bit of a delightful surprise and the first step in laying a foundation of affection for everything that comes after this!

This was such a fun read. I love fairy tales and I loved the twist and turns these authors took on those old as time stories. It was a very enjoyable read.

It was an ok book. I found it difficult to switch from one story to another and some were better than others.

I was happy with this set. I got to read retellings of stories I have never heard of and interesting retellings of some i know.

It was great being aware of the fairytales and being able to know what was happening because of the original story but still have my heart drop whenever something happened. These authors were able to do that for me which is hard to do with retellings.
I enjoyed every minute of reading these stories and being apart of the lives of very different women. I definitely recommend this book.

I am sorry that I couldn't complete the book on time and it got expired. I am giving 1 star because of the book description. I liked the synopsis and that is why I asked for the book.

Having different lives, there are ladies encountering different types of lives. Some things are very much fairytale-like and some seem like a nightmare that will never end. These fairytales let you in on what occurs.

There are different views of what is going on and to see the fairy godmothers hard at work is a rare opportunity this novel presents with a modern flair and twist

This novel was written with amazing creativity and wonderful skills! It gets 5 stars! To see these 11 fairytales on tue big screen would be a hoot! These writers came together for a great compilation of stories one may never forget!
