Much Ado About Hating You by Sarah Echavarre Smith is so much fun. Micah is an auditor looking for places the university that Aidan works at can make cuts. Aidan is a professor whose job is in jeopardy due to Micah's job. It is dislike on site for these two. They are so immature, it is absolutely hilarious. The funniest part is that they are actually online friends without realizing it as they both enjoy fanfics and Aidan is a fanfic author while Micah is an aficionado. They eventually realize that they are talking to each other and the decision is, will they put their differences aside and continue their friendship or will they let their jobs keep them apart?

I had a fabulous time listening to this book. The narrators did a great job! I can see why some people wouldn't like the book because it is so immature and unprofessional that I'm sure that's why some people don't like it. I thought it was an absolute hoot. They are SO RUDE that I was laughing really hard when reading their fight scenes. I really enjoyed watching the rivals eventually become lovers because they have a lot of chemistry. The book is what it is, a smutty rivals to lovers and it isn't trying to do anything else. I think it accomplished the goal so I'm rating it quite high.

I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys drama and teenager-like antics from adults. You also must love spice as it is VERY spicy. I would not recommend this book to anyone who doesn't like spice in their books or that wants people to always act rational.

Tropes: Rivals to lovers, coworkers, online romance

I enjoyed the tension between Micah and Aidan and the fact that they were colleagues, not student and professor. They definitely had a lot of chemistry and brought on the spice. I also liked the tender moments as they grew closer and started to have real feelings for each other. The audiobook is a fun way to enjoy this workplace romance.

Narration: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Story: ⭐⭐

This is a dual style narrated audiobook. The narrators are JF Harding and Cindy Kay were amazing. JF Harding is always a narrator I'm excited to listen to so it's no surprise he was awesome in this as well.

This story is about Aiden and and Micah. Aiden is a professor and Micah is an auditor who is auditing the English department Aiden is working at. Its an enemies to lovers story where the two are at instant odds with each other. However both are on scribble share which is like Wattsapp and Aiden is a popular writer, one that happens to be Micah's favorite. She also secretly wants to be a writer. But Aiden and Micah have no idea its each other when they connect on the app.

I normally love a good enemies to lovers but this book was not for me. I didn't have so much of an issue for Micah but I hated Aiden and he couldn't be redeemed for me. In a dark romance, some of the things might have worked or I would have understood it better but in this, Aiden is a horrible person. He can't take accountability for anything! He gawks at her breasts more than once and instead of owning up to it and apologizing he blames her! Classic boys will be boys bullshit. Also, it isn't Micah's fault she has to audit the department but Aiden takes it as a personal plight. If there isn't enough money you'll lose your job in the end anyway, which he doesn't seem to understand. Also, she is constantly trying to remain professional and hand out olive branches but he is always attacking her. There's so much more wrong with Aiden but I'll leave it there.

This story had potential but it just didn't hit the mark. The only part of this story I did like was Aiden's brother.

An ennemies to lovers but also two people falling in love online without knowing their real identity. Very spicy, good enough storyline, I had to roll my eyes couple times but overall enjoyed it. An english prof & an auditor writing fanfic? But also writing it about wach other unknowingly? Count me in.

Also, her shitty ex. Really? Was that necessary? Why couldn't she just leave a relationship because it wasn't working? I think I just read too many romances where she leaves a shitty ex recently.

I wanted to love this. Secret identity shakespeare nerdy
And I loved elements of it. And I also really enjoyed the narrators.

What I didn't love was the chemistry between the 2. I feel like they went from cold to hot so fast, I had whip lash. And it was pretty much a tame switch over, not a lot of tension. There

Mica is a financial auditor, who gets called in to figure out if the University will keep the literacy department that Aiden works in. She is convinced she is just doing her job, but he believes she is trying to ruin his. But unbeknownst to them, they both share a love for spicy Shakespeare fanfiction.

He writes it and she reads his post almost religiously. They even begin to fall for each other under the guise of their usernames on Scribble Share. And as much as they try to deny their chemistry, they can't. Between scandalous rendezvous during work hours and flirting online as Hot4Hermia and ShakespeareinLust, these two develop more than a budding romance with one another. They see each other in a way no one else does.

Except Mila is his auditor and coming for his job and Aiden is supposed to hate her for that... right?

This was such a fun read! I practically devoured this audiobook and I honestly wish I could re-experience this again for the first time. Cindy Kay and J. F. Harding did a phenomenal job bringing these characters to life. I can't stop gushing about this book to anyone and everyone who will listen to me. This is definitely going down as one of my favorite books I've listened to all year!

Micah is an auditor assigned to evaluate the English department at a university. Aiden is a Shakespeare professor who is worried Micah's audit threatens his job. The two butt heads, but little do they know they are acquaintances online in a Shakespeare fanfiction forum.

This was a fairly fun read with lots of spice, I just didn't feel the characters were well developed. I think this book could've used being a little longer to dive more into the characters and draw out the enemies to lovers arc. Also I felt the unprofessionalness of the beginning was a bit much and made that characters seem very immature.

The audiobook was well done and I felt both narrators did an excellent job bringing the characters to life.

I really did try to like this book, but I DNF with 2 hours of audio left. It wasn't due to the narrators, just the book itself. I couldn't stand the characters. Normally I love a good enemies to lovers, however in this case it just wasn't doing it for me. Both MCs are annoying and so self absorbed that listening to them whine and complain was to much. Sure the spicey scenes were well written, however the rest was not.

Much Ado About Hating You is a fun, flirty enemies-to-lovers rom-com with great banter and undeniable chemistry. Sarah Echavarre Smith nails the slow-burn tension, and the narration by Cindy Kay and J.F. Harding adds an extra layer of charm—both voices really bring the characters to life. There were a few moments that felt a little predictable, but the emotional payoff and witty dialogue made it such an enjoyable listen. Perfect for fans of workplace drama with heart!

I give this a 3 star... Micah started out the gate annoyed and stubborn. Annoyed because she's has to defend her job and the reason she's at that university to the people that work there and with Adain who she hasn't met yet but over heard him making fun of her name on the elevator. Stubborn because she can't get over what her ex did to her and vows to not date even though Adain isn't her ex and showed her that. There were parts that had me kicking my feet giggling but there were also parts were the story flet drawn out. I hasn't read Shakespeare's much ado about nothing so I'm not sure if the plot is similar.... But Adain being a Shakespeare fanfic writer was a nice touch.

Thanks to NetGalley/the publisher for the audiobook of this. All thoughts are my own.

I started this book super excited about the plot but it just kind of fell flat for me. If you know me you know how much I enjoy fanfics so the fact that the male MC writes it had me so excited.

Both of the narrators did a great job with it so I have no complaints about that. But I just didn’t feel attached to either of the main characters. And the relationship felt odd to me. It genuinely felt like they hated each other at moments.

The twin sister I thought was hilarious tho. And the use of Douche Canoe 😂😂 one of my favorite insults.

The food tampering part I know it was supposed to be a funny thing but can’t that get you fired if not in trouble with the law in real life? Kind of felt off reading that in an office setting.

I’d recommend this to anyone who wants something fast paced and easy to read. For me it was a solid 3 ⭐️ but I personally don’t think I’d read it again.

The first half of this book was a bit hard for me. The MCs are well into adulthood, but they were soooo extremely juvenile. I like tension and enemies/rivals to lovers, but woooooo 😮‍💨 this stuff was next level petty and immature. When the characters were separate, I was okay… but as soon as they were interacting I was cringing. Finally around 56% things started getting more tolerable, but that’s probably because it was mainly just physical intimacy scenes— which I think were pretty well written and hot. By the end I did enjoy the interactions between the MCs, and that helped gain some redemption in my eyes.

The spice and the ending paired with great dual narration audiobook performances kind of saved the rating. J. F. Harding always gives an engaging performance, and this time wasn’t an exception. I enjoyed Cindy Kay’s narration and want to check out more from her.

Just finished this book and it was so cute!

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. The narrators were great and the story was so fun to listen to.

Aidan and Micah hate each other from the start. Micah is a financial auditor tasked with finding ways to cut costs in the local university’s English department where Aidan is a lit professor. What Micah doesn’t know is that Aidan, the guy who’s making her day job miserable, is also her favorite fanfic writer.

Aidan and Micah’s attraction is palpable from the start. Really liked the evolution of their relationship.

If you’re looking for a steamy, fun romance with lots of Shakespeare references and fanfic, this might just be the book for you!

Thank you Harlequin and Sarah Echavarre Smith for the advance audiobook copy!

This is a true enemies to lovers. The characters really fight and really strongly oppose the other, we’re not messing around here. Enemies with plenty of reasons not to be together. This is what the people want. And the narrators really bring the characters to life.

Much Ado About Hating You was a fun retelling of one of my favorite Shakespeare classics. I love the characters and how their story unraveled. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter, the relationship was a typical intra-hate, enemies to lovers. I would highly recommend this book if you are looking for a fluffy, light-hearted, HEA story.

Much Ado About Hating You by Sarah Echavarre Smith**

This book is a swoony, spicy delight from start to finish—equal parts cozy fandom escapism and slow-burn academic chaos. *Much Ado About Hating You* nails that rare blend of heartfelt and hilarious, with just the right dash of steam to keep the pages flying.

Micah and Aidan are textbook enemies-to-lovers, with a Shakespearean twist that feels fresh and nerdily addictive. By day, they’re throwing barbed quips across the university office halls. By night, they’re unknowingly each other’s favorite fanfic creator and reader. The reveal? Chef’s kiss. It’s romcom gold.

Micah is a lovable, competent “good girl” with a hidden spicy side, and Aidan? A hot, emotionally constipated lit professor with dirty thoughts and a black cat. Their chemistry is off the charts, and the tension builds in the best possible way—through shared projects, mutual stubbornness, and electric banter that always teeters on the edge of something much hotter.

It’s a love letter to fandom, to Shakespeare, and to the idea that our nerdiest selves deserve big love, too. If you’re into praise kink, secret identities, and the ultimate “I hate you but I love f&\*\$ing you” vibe, this book is your next favorite escape.

Warm, witty, and wickedly sexy—*Much Ado About Hating You* is fanfic fantasy come true, wrapped in a cozy sweater of enemies-to-lovers goodness.

As a Shakespeare girlie, I was so so pumped about this one!!!

A classic enemies to lovers with a Shakespearean twist! FMC was strong, independent and absolutely knew what she wanted from life and a partner. It was cool to see the MMC being a smutty fanfic writer! I loved the banter and the growth from the MMC.

Just a personal thing, I didn’t *love* the FMC giving up her career because she felt guilty for doing her job well.
