I love Manga and I love classic literature, so what a perfect combination for me. This is my first Manga classic graphic novel and I thought it was a good adaptation of the original novel, again this is an adaptation but is faithful to the original story. It brings tears to your eyes just like the original. I loved the stylisation, but did find some of the art a bit too simplistic, being a fan of Manga I feel it could have been slightly better, but this is my only criticism really.

I really like Cosette on the cover. She is so pretty in Manga style. The colours of the French flag work so well. I really like the artwork on the cover. It fits perfectly.

Plot:
I have never dared to read the actual "Les Misérables" by Victor Hugo, but I did dare to pick this one up :). And I am glad I did. As a big fan of the movie I loved this story! The artwork in this manga is just great. The story did not go too fast, nor did it go too slow. 

Overall:
I think Manga Classics did a REALLY good job in portraying Les Mis in an other format than a massive book. You can read this one less than a day, because of the artwork and its style it is a fast paced book. 
I can highly recommend the Manga Classics if you want to read classics, but you are impressed by the length of the actual book.

In part of its Manga Classics collection, Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables was translated into Manga. This was accomplished by Crystal S. Chan and later whose script was translated into English by Stacy King. It was filled with expressive and artistic drawings by SunNeko Lee. Overall the comic was entertaining and showed a glimpse into the artistry behind Les Miserables. I commend this series for condensing larger than life classics into an accessible format for readers of all interests fall in love with classics. I recommend this for lovers of Magna, and Classics. I give this 3.5 stars on Goodreads.

I loved this book and think that it would be a good addition to any ELA library! This version makes the story so easy to understand that it would be sure to assist any struggling students.  It is perfect for visual learners!

I love when classics are turned in graphic novels. It allows students who may not be able to understand older language, or have the want to read such long books with fancy language, to experience a story. I like this series in the fact that they remain true to the story without making anything too glamorous or modern to attract readers. They let the story speak for itself.

I was very interested in these set of books from Udon Entertainment because I find that younger generations are able to connect with classic literature easily through visuals and more modern interpretations. I think that 'Les Miserables' does a fairly good job with this. The pacing of the story is a little rushed, which is understandable considering it is rather a lengthy story originally and it has been condensed for an art style book. The art however, is very beautiful and adds a nice visual aspect to the story. I think it does allow reader's to connect more freely with the original story, despite feeling rushed through some sections. It still allows the message to be understood very clearly.

This Manga Classics rendition was, believe it or not, my first ever introduction to this story! I've never read the book or seen any film adaptations of it, though I've been meaning to for ages. All I knew was that it would be a very sad story, but I was surprised by just how dark and tragic it was. Unfortunately, the sorrowful aspects weren't enough to keep me interested and I honestly found the whole thing pretty dull. That said, I'm still giving it 3 stars because, as always, the art is absolutely lovely!

I loved this so mich that I read the whole thing in one sitting! I have heard of Les Misérables before as a musical and have been interested in wanting to read the story so this was my first time experiencing it. I have to say, as a Manga Classic it was amazing! I loved it! I always find original classic stories hard to follow, so when I saw that the story was translated to Manga format I HAD to read it and I'm not disappointed at all. The artwork is stunning, in classic Manga style and the story is easy to follow. I would highly recommend this.

The 4th Manga I have read and the best so far, only edging out the Edgar Allen Poe Stories a little bit.

The original book is a complicated read, but reading through this book was far easier, and the artwork supremely done. It is fascinating how well this graphic novel was put together and how the stories were intertwined and ended as complete as the original book was. The original book seem to take forever to read.

The book itself features a convict who spent a life-time redeeming himself after being charged to do so, by a priest whom he robbed of silver. First opening up a factory to bring jobs to a poor town, and later, after being found out as a convict, he was chased out of town. Remembering a promise he made to a dying woman, he stops to rescue  her child, an orphan, abused by innkeeper and wife who care she was left to.  His story, chronicled by the book, reveals what kind of man he was and how he dealt with people and protected the orphan whom he called a daughter.

The book is rich in detail, but this graphic novel would be a good read for those who don't want the original. I highly recommend this book, but I wouldn't use it to replace required reading for school

What a fantastic adaptation of one of my favourite broadway shows and movies. The art work was spectacular and some of my students were so engrossed in the story it prompted them to look up more titles from Manga Classics. A great way to get students to fall in love with some of the classic titles that they wouldn’t have a chance to read otherwise.

This book follows the original closely, though I admittedly like the original better. I liked how the artists depicted the characters, very much in the manga style. I would recommend this book for those who like manga or those who may feel "bogged down" by thick, old-fashioned text of the original.

I would highly recommend this to school librarians and YA librarians to encourage older kids and teens to read the classics.  The issue usually is not that the writing in these books is too hard to read, but that the stories carry the stigma of being dull and tedious.  By presenting these classic tales in a way that readers can easily access and enjoy, the world of the classics is also opened.  If you can enjoy the story in this format, there is nothing to stop you from the enjoying the original work!

This is a beautiful adaptation. I really love the idea of turning classics into manga. I don’t often read manga, but then again, I don’t read many classics either. I always feel like the language in classics can be inaccessible and dry. Overall, I find them to be intimidating. And I do enjoy manga, even if I don’t really read them often. 
Which is why I really enjoyed this adaptation. It’s beautiful and for turning a 1000+ page novel into a 300 page manga its quite the feat.  This is perfect for those who are interested in classics, but are intimidated to dive into the actual classics.

I think it's absolutely amazing that these favourite classics are getting more attention and love in the form of a manga. Such a great idea which I fully support!

Manga Classics is a brilliant alternative to whoever wants to revisit an old classical masterpiece such as this one but feels intimidated by the size of the book or the number of pages. Les Miserables is a wonderful story about self-sacrifice and the complexity of human nature. In this marvelous manga adaptation, you get instantly immersed in the cruel and unforgiving world of the 19th century France as you follow these tragic characters in their earnest endeavour to rebuild their lives. The fantastic art and glorious illustrations add so much more depth and emotions to the story that elevate the reading experience to a whole new level.

I cannot wait to get to read another one of the series!

This is such an interesting concept, using classic books as the basis for manga. This was actually my first manga and the first time I've read Les Miserables and I was pleasantly surprised. Of course, the entire story can't be told in the form of manga, but it feels like the most important parts were included. I think this is a great way to get classic storylines into the hands of a wider audience.

Having read this book, I have to say I am amazed at how good an adaption of Les Mis it actually is. It is beautifully drawn, and covers a great deal more ground from the book than any of the musical adaptations do. Probably the best review I can give of this book is that it made me cry, several times. Fair enough, some of that is association from other adaptations, but still, very few manga books manage to move me in any significant fashion, and I was really pleased to discover this did. It’s a really faithful adaptation, and I definitely well worth a read, especially if the original book seems too daunting.

Wow this was such a breeze! I haven't heard of any classics being made into manga before this one, so I was pretty delighted to find out this even exists. I do not know the original material; as in, the book, because of course I've seen the movie and the musical in theater countless times, and from what I've seen there, this manga follows the plotline pretty neatly. I loved the art, though the quality was on and off, the details weren't always there. It was just the length that is still enjoyable, and overall I had great fun reading this manga, so I'm definitely gonna read the other classics, too!

I had heard so many mixed reviews it was nice to form my own opinion. It wasn't my favorite but was still enjoyable. 

3/5 stars. I would still recommend this book as it is a classic!
