I didn’t know what to expect when I read the summary of The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club, but I did not expect to like it as much as I did.

Three unlikely friends, all screwed over by the same guy, plot revenge. They break into his apartment to carry out their revenge plot, and while they are going through with their plan, they find him dead in the closet.

It doesn’t look good for them; they look guilty and are at the top of the suspect list. It’s up to them to solve the mystery, or else they will be the ones going down for the murder.

This was a fun, fast read. My only major problem was that I found the main character, Kat, to be rather unlikable. I also had to suspend my belief in reality when she was not arrested on the spot, the day the police found the body.

Despite these issues, this is a fun book that I would recommend to anyone.

Three jilted lovers. One dead ex. Let the investigation—and chaos—begin! This murder mystery is packed with romcom energy, dark humor, and some seriously wacky shenanigans. I couldn’t stop reading—it’s clever, hilarious, and unexpectedly heartfelt. Between the girl power vibes, ride-or-die friendship, found family feels, and a hot detective (yes, please), this book had me hooked from page one.

The plot was so smartly woven, full of twists and hilarious bad luck. The audiobook, narrated by Carolyn Kang, was chef’s kiss—she truly brought each character to life

What I loved most was how Gloria Chao balanced laugh-out-loud moments with real emotional depth. Each character felt unique and relatable, and the bond between the women was both chaotic and heartwarming. The twists kept me guessing, and just when I thought I had it figured out—boom! Another curveball. It’s the kind of book that’s both entertaining and empowering, with strong female leads who take matters (and murder investigations) into their own hands. This was such a fun, fresh take on the murder romcom genre—I’ll be recommending it to everyone!

This book reminds me of John Tucker must die but like he actually dies in this one. I loved it so much. I think Kat was a well rounded character and Olivia being by her side makes this even better. And then when we meet Elle? like I loved this. I thought the murderer was one person in my mind but the twist for me (mind u i don’t ever get plot twists in my mind correct idk how) but i enjoyed this. it was funny and sweet at time and also so somber. I want more of this and more of these three so bad.

really wanted to enjoy this more than i did because of the premise - ex-girlfriends getting revenge on the man they were all dating? here for that mess. but i felt like these women got over their relationship and became best friends basically overnight. then, the way they decided to take revenge on him was incredibly immature (literally smearing actual shit all over his house?? rubbing his toothbrush against their armpits?? are we twelve year old boys lol???). i also felt like they got away with way too much. you expect me to believe the detective on the case allowed them to continue amateur sleuthing? lol. okay. and our main character didn't think or act with any common sense. everything worked out so cliche and conveniently - she even ends up having a romance with the hot detective. really?? was that necessary?

i feel like i would have enjoyed more if we got all three pov's of the woman instead of just one. this was definitely a flop for me.

I thought the plot sounded fun, and it was at times. This is the kind of book I like when I need a little break from heavier books - something cozy, funny, a light read. This one did have all those things but something felt missing. Maybe it was a little too long and a little too ridiculous at times? the narration was good.

After reading some heavier books, I got the notification that my NetGalley request for this one was approved, and it was just what I needed. Light, easy to read, funny, silly, and just the right amount of absurd, but with good heart. I enjoyed all of the characters and the ridiculous shenanigans and relationships they found together. Also loved the malaphors!

I enjoyed this humorous story about three women dating the same man. They come together to prank him and find his body. Glad to hear this is the first of a series because I really enjoyed the characters!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for sending me an Advanced Listener’s Copy (my first ever!) of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I had originally applied for an e-book arc of this book but was unfortunately rejected. But when I saw it available in audio format, I tried again and was approved! I have had a lot of 3 hour road trips lately and needed something to keep me entertained so this came at the perfect time.

I really enjoyed this book and while I thought I knew who the real killer was for a good chunk of the book, I didn’t actually know until the last 30 minutes. And even then I was hungry for all the details especially in the last chapter/epilogue. This book had me so enthralled that after it was done I had to sit in my car for a long while just processing all of it.

I loved the different personalities from the three ex girlfriends and what they brought to the table. I did struggle a little bit with the narrator because while she was able to mostly give each woman a distinct “voice” there were times that I couldn’t quite tell who was talking. Especially when they were meeting in Liv’s townhouse sharing stories.

I really enjoyed way Kat’s brain worked especially when it came to the origins of idioms. It was such a quirky personality trait where I got to learn something while being entertained.

I wish there was more of an epilogue that would give a glimpse into Kat’s future now that she kind of knows what she wants. But I guess that’s the sign of a good book…I want more! I definitely will be buying this when it comes out and rereading it in physical form.

Check this out if you want a fun, girl power, hilarious, touching who-done-it mystery akin to the First Wives Club.

The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club was a fun, humorous mystery. My favorite parts of the book were the friendships and personal growth of the main characters. I enjoyed the audiobook narration.

I want to thank NetGalley, Gloria Chao, and Harlequin Trading Post for the hilarious murder mystery, *The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club*. When we first meet Kat, she is completely in love with Tucker, and aside from her job, everything seems perfect in her life. However, things take a turn during a surprise visit to Tucker’s place, leading to a surprise proposal, but it’s not for Kat.

Imagine three girls, each seeking revenge—different in their own ways but surprisingly similar at the same time. As I read this book, I found myself wishing I could be part of this club. The dynamics of this trio were unexpected and captivating. Let me tell you, I could go on, but I don’t want to spoil the fun of reading it. My jaw dropped at the end of this book! Add “ The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club” to your TBR list today, you will not regret it.

This delightful cozy whodunit mystery features an unexpected trio: three ex-girlfriends! It’s a fun, fast-paced read that would be absolutely perfect for a day at the beach.

In this comedic murder mystery, three women—Kathryn, Olivia, and Elle—who are all dating the same cheating man, Tucker, plan to get revenge on him. However, when they unexpectedly find his dead body, they must prove their innocence before they are wrongly accused of his murder. Despite having a motive and evidence that links them to the crime scene, they band together to investigate and uncover the real killer, navigating lies and deception, all while dealing with the attractive detective on the case. The story follows their humorous and suspenseful journey to clear their names and find the true culprit.

The characters are gradually fleshed out with each chapter, making them easy to distinguish not just by their standout traits but also by their distinct personalities. We have a nerdy scientist, a savvy beauty, and a level-headed opportunist. These unlikely allies hit it off, and let me tell you, it’s quite the rollercoaster ride! This appears to be a debut from a young adult author, and I must say, well done!

I particularly enjoyed the podcast element and the sweet taste of revenge served up by the girls. The sprinkle of authentic Asian culture added a delightful touch that made the story even more engaging.

The audiobook was a treat, brilliantly narrated and downright hilarious! I truly believe this is one of those gems that shines even brighter in audio form, thanks to the narrator’s fantastic delivery. The pacing and humor were spot on!

I was on the edge of my seat, completely engrossed, and eager to uncover more. The main twist caught me completely off guard—kudos to the author for that! I’m officially hooked and can’t wait for the next installment to drop. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, instant connections, and unpredictable twists, this book will keep your afternoon delightfully occupied!

Thank you, Harlequin Audio and Harlequin Trade Publishing | MIRA, for the digital ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I truly enjoyed this book! It gave me John Tucker must die vibes, clue and mixed with alittle romance! It really made me laugh out loud at parts and truly get into the story! I was not a fan of the podcast at all! The idea of the podcast, host or her turning it into a “true crime” podcast and paying people off to lie! I loved that they named their group “ the ex girlfriend murder club” it just made them bond and really grow close together! Friendship above all, even at the end BUT the twist at the end with L!?! I was not expecting that at all and the girls still let her decide how she was going to handle the police and situation at the end, when they found out who she was! Still protecting one another right till the end! I truly enjoyed this book so much and the only reason I am not giving it a 5 star is the podcast host! I know it was part of the point but I listen to so many true crime podcasts and other podcasts that it overwhelmed and over did it for me is all, that is why I am giving it a 4/5 stars. Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for giving me the ability to listen and review this book!

Omg what a fun book! I downloaded this book on a whim when I needed a new audiobook, and I’m so glad I did. I loveddd the Finlay Donovan series - and this is giving series Finlay vibes.

The dynamic between Kat, Liv, and Elle was so much fun and I loved the found friendship/family vibes that they were giving off. Since obviously nothing brings girls together like a cheating boyfriend! I also genuinely enjoyed how they fed off each other to make themselves more confident and sure in themselves. Also the lies from Mandy the podcaster were hilarious! I giggled more times than I can count, and so if you need a good laugh with a good mystery - I’d definitely say you should dive into this one!

Let me start by saying I had a lot of laugh-out-loud moments throughout this book. A murder mystery, fast-paced, feminist thriller that blends humor, suspense, and revenge in some unusual ways.

Kathryn discovers that her boyfriend, Tucker, has been cheating on her, with TWO women. The three women team up to get back at Tucker. Their plan takes a dark turn, and suddenly, they’re suspects in a murder they didn’t commit. We follow their wild investigation, and uncover shocking secrets about Tucker and his tangled web of lies.

Perfect for fans of dark comedy and gripping suspense.

The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club was such a fun, cozy mystery romp! It’s got big “revenge girl gang accidentally finds a dead body” energy, and I was absolutely here for it. Kat, Olivia, and Elle have hilarious chemistry as they bumble their way through covering up a crime they didn’t commit (but maybe kinda wished for?) while also trying to solve it themselves. The vibe is lighthearted murder chaos in the best way, with a dash of romance and a whole lot of snark. I also listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narration by Carolyn Kang—she brought so much personality to each character and made it even more entertaining!

This one was soo fun! Perfect for fans of Only Murders in the Building and Finlay Donovan. I loved the characters and their unlikely friendships, and the banter had me cracking up!
I really enjoyed the narrator, the way she delivered the humor, twists, and even the podcast clips was perfect!

The storyline felt so fresh and unique, it pulled me in right from the start and kept me guessing the whole way through. One of my favorite aspects was the unlikely friendship that formed between the characters. Watching them navigate tension, secrets, and suspicion made their bond all the more compelling.

And that ending? Total twist I didn’t see coming! Gloria Chao nailed the suspense while still giving us emotional depth and humor. I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series.

The audio was superb!!! Highly recommend consuming this book that way!

Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the advanced audio copy of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.

This book was fun!

It was very ‘John Tucker Must Die’ mixed with a little ‘First Wives Club’ and a murder mystery.

A touch reminiscent of Vera Wang.

The audio was well done and I appreciated listening to the story unfold - especially as the dual pov of a podcast was introduced.

The twist at the end was well executed.

I was happy to receive this ALC as I was in the mood for cozy mystery vibes and while those vibes were there, it fell a bit flat.

The structure of the book took away from the flow and at times the plot meandered along. It was strange because the actual prose was well written. There were time that I became complete engaged in what was going down and even had a very laughs but then it was short lived. That being said I think some looking bc it a low stakes cozy may enjoy this.

The narrator Carolyn Kang did an ok job with her performance but it was recorded at a very slow unnatural pace which added to bit being able to connect to the story. Also, she had a snark to her vocals which at times was an appropriate but it took away from me being able to create the world the author created in my head. Narrators for standard audiobooks walk a fine line with giving enough emotion to enrage the reader but not going overboard and color the readers imagination process. In this case Ms Kang put her big toe over that line. So it wasn’t egregious but it didn’t help the scattered plot with its multi time lines and POVs.

This book comes out June 24th 2025 and I may give it another go in physical form as I may enjoy it more as I love the description and as I said above, it’s well written just poorly organized.
