This is a modern retelling of several fairy tales - Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, and Sleeping Beauty. It is fun to see how their stories play out in modern times. This novel debates the idea of a preordained destination, i.e. fate or if these women have their own agency to change the course of their lives.

Unfortunately I didn't connect to this book and ended up not finishing it. I will not be reviewing it since my opinions aren't based on the entirety of the book and may therefore give wrong impressions.

this book was a rollercoaster, I've never expect to cry for sleeping beauty. This is one of best retellings that i have read

Wow, this was sort of a crazy book! I'm a complete sucker for retellings, so when I saw Letters to Zell on Netgalley I had to have it!

I absolutely loved the concept of the book--what happens after Happy Ever After? Cinderella fits the glass slipper and gets the prince, but how does she adjust to the complete change in lifestyle? Sleeping Beauty gets woken with a kiss but how does she fit in a new world that kept going on without her? I really loved the new perspective I got on some of my favorite princesses by reading this novel and viewing my favorite fairy tales from a completely new angle. The author did a wonderful job interweaving the original tales with modern princesses and also touches of the real world!

I also thought the idea of the fairy tale world was really interesting -- a Grimmland that could connect to Oz and Wonderland and the real world through portals. Totally unique and I loved that!

Overall, the exposition style made the story move a little bit slower and also made parts feel a bit melodramatic, but as the story progressed, I was sucked in and needed to see how everything worked out. I didn't expect it to get quite so real (I don't want to say more because spoilers) but the realistic finale was fitting for the mood of the story!

I enjoyed this book and recommend it to fellow fairy tale obsessors like myself :)
