“But curses don’t hold any power unless we give it to them. I guess I need to remember that.”

Jaime Jo Wright has done it again. This dual timeline story of 1890 and present day Newton Creek, Wisconsin will suck you in and not let go until the very last page. Waverly and Jennie’s story is more about intrigue, grief, longing and consequences of greed and less scared-out-of-mind-reading-at-night. Yes, the author’s trademark eeriness does blanket the entire book in somber, watching-over-your-shoulder atmosphere but it is probably the least eerie and gothic out of all of her books to date. Waverly in 1890 was easy to connect with; her confusion and loneliness garnered much sympathy. I really enjoyed getting to know Titus in this timeline who provided much needed logic, guidance, and steadfastness for Waverly. I also loved Jennie in the present timeline. She embodied a strong woman who had reclaimed her life from one of abuse but needed to learn that God and trustworthy people can be on her side. Zane was a delightful hero, even with the tragedies in his past.
As always, the two plots merged seamlessly and the book held me spellbound. There were plenty of plot twists that tied the entire book together.

It’s another delicious offering from Jaime Jo Wright. I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Bethany House via Interviews and Reviews and NetGalley. I was under on obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

Every time Jaime Jo Wright writes a new book I think, "oh, this one is my favorite of hers!"...and then she writes another book, and the cycle continues. It goes without saying, it happened again.

In The Bell Tolls at Traeger Hall, a dual-timeline mystery unfolds. In 1890, Waverly Pembrooke finds herself bound to a shadowed estate after her family’s tragic deaths, while in the present day, Jennie Phillips inherits the same hall and uncovers chilling secrets that refuse to stay buried. Suspense, secrets, and generational curses tie both women’s stories together.

I'm not sure what I loved the most about this book; the suspense, the historical line, the description of Traeger Hall and the bell tower, Milo and Zane, the undertaker and his care for Waverly, the murder-mystery, or the real-life murder mystery that inspired this book. There's so much to love. I was pulled in from the very first chapter, which is something that I love about Wright's books. I never have to read a few chapters to see if the book will hold my attention. Wright has a way of grabbing me from the very first page. I always look forward to this time of year, because I know she'll write a book that is perfect for the fall season.

Way to go, Jaime! You hit this one out of the park (again). Thank you for another beautifully written book.

Jaime Jo Wright never fails to deliver haunting stories that will keep you at the edge of your seat where nothing is ever quite what it seems. She truly has a style that is all her own, and I absolutely love it every single time. This is once again true for The Bell Tolls at Traeger Hall. This story very quickly draws us into the lives of Waverly (1890) and Jennie (present day), the murders that took place around Traeger Hall and the many secrets this mysterious building holds. I often find that with dual timelines, I'll find myself drawn into one timeline more than the other, but the author has managed to create two characters and two stories that were able to captivate me equally... filled with twists and turns and mysteries that I couldn't wait to unravel. Whether this is your first Jaime Jo Wright book or you're a longtime fan, this is absolutely one that fans of Christian suspense and spookier reads is going to want to add to your TBR.

This book is full of mystery, intrigue and ghostly happenings. Or are they?
Lots of mystery for sure! Lots of twists and guesses.
Everything i love in a story. Even made the hairs standing up on the back of my neck. Oh, I read it at nighttime to make it more scarier! Best time to read a Jaime Jo Wright novel.
Jaime Jo Wright has added a bit of everything it seems to give this story a ghostly tale. to it. Which I adore. I really love the Gothic feel of it too.
I couldn't put this book down! Wow!!
I felt sorry for Waverley. Uncle Leopold was awful towards her. He's such a weirdo or I guess paranoid if you will. Gave me the creeps he did along with his wife. How arrogant.
I'm looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next! This was sooooooo wonderful!! I didn't want it to end.
The cover is sooooo creepy but beautiful at the same time! The bell has meaning but what is it? Y'all just have to read this fabulous story to find out!
Can't go wrong with any Jaime Jo Wright story.
They're worth rereading again and again.
5 stars from me for a job well done!
