"I cannot Imagine anything worse.." "Then bless Adonai for his mercy, child, and know that you will survive this. My heart breaks because this happened to you."
I know quite a bit about Bathsheba but I was interested to see what this book was like and how the story was portrayed. I have to say it is an enjoyable read. Not only do we get to see Bathseba's life before David assaulted her and changed her life forever, we also get to see her make connections with the other wives and harem women.

I also liked how Bathsheba's younger sister was mentioned and wasn't just forgotten once Bathsheba was forced to live with David. I was also glad to see that the sister also had a life despite her disability because I wasn't sure that was going to happen at all.

Overall I really did enjoy this story and getting to see the biblical people in a more fictional way that made them seem more real in a way.

This is a difficult read because of what happens to Bathsheba and several other characters as well. But I think it's important that we are now starting to get to see even if they are just fictional stories, the women of the bible. So often they are just glanced over or used as a side story for the men, so to see so many good books being published that focus purely on the women was nice.
