I began this book not knowing that it was the third and final of a series. Luckily it is one that you can pick up and read without having to have read the previous books. This was a very well written and interesting telling of the story of Nehemiah. I love the take of historical fiction of stories from the Bible. This is one that I never thought too much about and reading it in this format made me delve deeper and really think about it. It brings in other perspectives and is so interesting. You become immersed in that world and what it might have been like. I enjoyed every minute reading it. The parts of injustice are always very difficult, but it is important to not ignore the bad parts of the past, we must remember it all. The book does an excellent job of portraying a possibility of what this story would have looked like told from the perspective of everyday people from a myriad of backgrounds.

If you enjoy biblical historical fiction this book is well worth a read.

The main storyline was extremely boring and I couldn't get past pg 144.
I found myself being far more interested in the women's storylines but those chapters were always so short, that they just couldn't keep me reading the book sadly.
