Gorgeous ending to an amazing series. I know there are other books, but this one is just a cap on the entire series. I have loved Dooley since At Home in Mitford, and have been so happy to see him grow and mature and become the person he was meant to be. What a great wonderful book. Definitely read all of them in order for maximum enjoyment.

Come Rain or Come Shine is the much anticipated addition to the delightful Mitford Series by Jan Karon.  There’s a wedding planned; Dooley and Lace are getting married, and they want the wedding to be held at their new farm, Meadowbrook, so there are lots of repairs and plenty of other work to do to prepare. Dooley’s going to graduate from veterinary school, so they’re waiting until summer.
Although this novel features the same characters, there is something different about the writing style.  It seems that the book hasn’t actually been written by Karon; the magic doesn’t seem to be there.  Something’s off.  Even though this book is enjoyable, it really isn’t the same.  Unfortunately, Karon has either lost her touch, has aged past her writing prime, or has just written a novel that doesn’t measure up to her usual high standards.  Worth reading, but a little disappointing.
