While this is only a partial review because I'm only reviewing the 18 narrated chapters here and need to finish my eARC of the full book.... all I can say is WOW. just WOW!!! Rebecca Ross is quite literally one of my favorite authors, she has hooked me from the start for every book I've read by her... and Wild Reverence is proving to be no different. DIvine Rivals and Ruthless Vows are books that I truly still think about constantly, I literally have a tattoo appointment for a typewriter because of those books... and now I get more???
Rebecca Ross the woman that you are!!!!!!

The narration for this. book is FANTASTIC. I will be purchasing the audio once it's released. This narration was quite literally hypnotic, poetic, encapsulating. I cannot give enough praise and I haven't even finished the book.

Since this is just a sneak peak I don’t want to give any spoilers.
The narrators were both perfect for this book! I enjoyed hearing how names were pronounced and would definitely listen to the full audiobook for Wild Reverence.
Thank you Macmillan Audio for the audio sneak peek!

Such an incredible sneak peak into Wild Reverence. The writing is incredible. This is my first book by Rebecca Ross and I'm sad I haven't picked up a book by her sooner. The pacing is perfect, the world-building and magic system is unique and easy to follow, and the main characters are lovable. Although this was 18 chapters, I was immediately entranced and will absolutely be finishing this book. The voice actors did a great job eliciting such strong emotions and portraying multiple characters. I am lucky to have also received the ARC and both listening and reading Wild Reverence at the same time is unmatched. Highly recommend this adult romantasy!

*Thank you to Netgalley, Macmillan Audio, and the author, Rebecca Ross, for a sneakpeak ALC. Opinions expressed are solely my own.

I'm trying really hard to like this one, but it is boring so far and I'm struggling wanting to listen and read this one. I was given a sample of the audiobook, which was 25% of the book (until chapter 19). I also have the eARC and was reading along. I am bored so far, which is crazy because I love things like Greek mythology, however the plot was all over the place in this book. I am thoroughly confused why the main event with her mother and Phelyra and why Matilda had to run. I still don't understand why Dacre and Adaria immediately came after her following her mother's death. I don't feel connected to anyone in this book and that is super important to me. I also dislike the sudden time jumps, and there are many of them.

I have no idea where this book is going at this point which is insane because I'm 25% in.

As for the audiobook itself, it was top tier, I really like this narrator. Thank you to Netgalley for this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I know the audiobook is not complete but I was lucky enough to also receive an e-Arc and finish the story. I’m including my review below.

Huge thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an e-Arc copy of Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross.

As a fan of Rebecca Ross, I was so excited to dive back into the world of Divine Rivals with this book. Wild Reverence is a prequel to Divine Rivals set in the past, focusing on the gods and goddesses. In typical Rebecca Ross fashion, it’s a deeply atmospheric story.

We follows Matilda, a goddess, and Vincent, a mortal. These two make a fast and strong connection with each other when they
meet as kids in a dream. After being separated for years, they find each other again, and their story really takes off from there, even with the threat of war hanging over them.

I really loved their relationship. They are so fiercely loyal and would do anything to protect each other.

The writing is beautiful, the magic feels vibrant & the worldbuilding is fantastic and easy to imagine.

I will say, I did have a couple small issues. The beginning felt a little slow to me, and it took me a while to feel fully invested. It wasn't until the last 30% of the book that I couldn't put it down. Also, while I liked both characters, I sometimes wanted a little more depth from Vincent.

Overall, I did thoroughly enjoyed this even though it took me some time to finish it.

Apologies if this review is a bit of a hot mess, I had major surgery and my brain has been all over the place.

Special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have some mixed feelings about this book. While there some things that I loved about the book (the writing, the overall themes and certain characters and scenes) something about this book felt off to me 🤔 The audiobook definitely was a more enjoyable experience than when I read the e-arc, so I think there's something off in me, and not the book

I requested this so fast when I saw it on the “read now” page. I didn’t realize it was just a sneak peek. It is the first 18 chapters, which is great sneak peek! I loved the narration and wish I had the whole audio book!! I can’t wait to finish this.

First of all, the most massive thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for granting me access to this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review. This is EASILY my most anticipated release of 2025, so being able to read it in advance was an absolute honor!

To say I had high hopes for this book would be a enormous understatement, and my god did it deliver on all fronts. When I heard that Rebecca was releasing an adult novel set in the Letters of Enchantment world, I actually screeched. I love the world that she created with this series and am beyond thrilled that she is giving us more. Wild Reverence has all the elements that I loved from Divine Rivals/Ruthless Vows, making it join that duology as some of my favorite books of all time. The politics, the magic, the betrayals, the meddling of gods, the LETTERS and the romance, the unmatched Y E A R N I N G, nobody does it like Rebecca Ross man.

I am so grateful that I got to visit this world again and dive deeper into the world of the gods before the events leading to their downfall, and while I am devastated that Matilda and Vincent's story is one we likely wont get to revisit, I find myself also very at peace with that. I love the ending they got, they deserve literally the entire world. Love love love, I cannot wait to reread this again when it releases to the world.

I cannot wait to listen to the rest of the book. The sneak peek was not enough! Between the beautiful story telling by Rebecca Ross and the lyrical voice of Hannah van der Westhuysen I was immediately drawn into the story. There was something so feverish dreamish with a mix of midsummer nights dream that I loved and made it easy for me to settle into the story. I’m very excited to see the characters become more developed as the story goes. It’s hard with a sneak peak because I feel like the characters could be more deep, I know that there is more to the plot still. I’m also very interested to learn more about the 3 different worlds and all the gods. There is so much I loved about the sneak peek, and I’ll be impatiently waiting for the release to listen to the rest of the story.

If I was going to have someone write my love story, it would be Rebecca Ross. ♡

Wild Reverence is a prequel to Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows, and it ties into that world so seamlessly. I loved reading more of the mythology of the gods as well as the lore of the different realms: Underling, Mortal, and Skyward. There were several tales of love interwoven here, but the love story between Vincent and Matilda—star-crossed yet destined, yearning with a quiet ache, reverent and rebellious—was [literally] dreamy, and the ending made me cry then scream (first with anger then with joy) then cry again.

I don’t own a lot of physical books, but the Letters of Enchantment duology are two of them. When I heard about Wild Reverence, it was added to my TBR immediately! I was lucky enough to get an eARC and later an ALC, which confirmed why this book was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. The narrators for the audiobook were perfect and enriched the storytelling. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC and ALC, and I can’t wait for the midnight release party!

This sample got me hooked! it mainly covers Act 1. Rebecca Ross’s writing is as rich and lyrical as ever, painting a vivid, immersive world. The first chapter gave a strong start, introducing Matilda’s backstory in a way that already has me curious; like how she got her name and the mystery of her father.

Matilda is a lesser goddess, a herald or messenger for the gods, and this prequel sets the stage for the looming war between Dacre and Enva. It feels like we’re just scratching the surface of the bigger story, even after 18 chapters in the sample, but that slow burn suits the tone.

The narrator's soft and soothing voice really enhances the magical vibe of the story. The pacing is pretty leisurely, sometimes almost slow, but honestly it makes the story easier to follow without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

So far, Wild Reverence is shaping up to be a beautifully written, atmospheric read with a strong start and lots of potential. I haven’t finished it yet, but I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes.

I can't wait to listen to the rest of the book.

I really really loved the FMC narrator! I loved her voice and I thought it fit really well. And I liked her variations for different characters. I liked the MMC voice, although it took some getting used to.
This was a really nice sneak peak of the book. This included part 1 (about 25% of the total book.) it helped me get into the story. I really like the two main characters Matilda and Vincent. Part one took place when they were young. I can’t wait to see what happens in their story as they get older. The politics with the different gods and goddesses is really fascinating. I want to know more about Bade more than anyone else if the others.
Thank you for allowing me to listen to first part of this book early! I will submit an IG review when I have finished the full book!

Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to review! I absolutely loved this book so much until I realized that it was only a 5 hr sneak peek and then I was heartbroken. It’s a bit difficult to review a small portion of a book but I will say what I heard was beautiful and I can’t wait to see what happens.

The prose is poetic and the world is lush, as expected of Rebecca Ross’ writing. I will say it starts off fairly slowly, and even at the end of part 1 (this sneak peak has 18 chapters in total), it feels as though we are just barely getting started into the main plot.

This is a prequel to the Divine Rivals duology. We get to see the precursors to the war waged by Dacre against Enva. The main character is a goddess named Mathilda, herald or message bringing of the gods. Essentially a lesser-of the gods, relative to the various Gods of war, death, fire, the winds, cunning, etc.

I will reserve judgement until I’ve been able to read the whole book, but definitely curious to see where this is going!

As far as the audio itself, the narrators are both great, I love the British accents and it fits the tenor of the book. A third narrator is listed, but don’t think she’s made an appearance in this preview.

As I have not finished this book, I will not be leaving a completed review. I was lucky enough to snag an 18 chapter Audiobook sample and it has me HOOKED. The narrator is wonderful and dreamy, and the story is truly captivating. I can't want to read the rest!

Rebecca Ross does it again! The first 18 chapters had me hooked. Her world building flowed so seamlessly that I felt as though I was right beside Matilda in the Underling territory. The representation on Gods being cruel and power hunger positions this story perfectly for our darling Matilda to find her way. I am so excited to read the rest of this story upon publication.

Narration was beautifully done by both narrators and I would absolutely revisit their backlogs for more.

This was such a great preview of Wild Reverence, it mainly covers act 1. The first chapter was a strong start, we got an intriguing introduction to Matilda's backstory such as how she got her name and setting up the mystery of her father.

The narrator for Matilda, Hannah van der Westhuysen, has such a very beautiful, yet soft-spoken and soothing tone which helps to lend itself in creating a more atmospheric feel to the audiobook. Truly what a great voice. The elegant narration pairs well with the enchanting magical vibes of the world. The narration does feel a little slow at times almost like it's spoken at a very leisurely pace, but it does make things a lot easier to follow without feeling overwhelmed.

I loved getting a dual POV and get bonus points for a separate narrator, George Weightman for Vincent. It really added to the audiobook and allowed to be further immersed in the story. In comparison, Vincent has a more crisp, but calming tone to it. Both narrators gave a wonderful performance, they truly brought both Matilda and Vincent and Rebecca Ross' lyrical divine writing style to life.

I can't wait to dive into the rest of the book.

Oh how wonderful it is to be back in this world!!! Rebecca Ross returns with her beautiful and mesmerizing writing in this Divine Rivals prequel. In Wild Reverence, we follow Matilda, a young goddess of two realms. She comes to realize that she can watch a mortal, Vincent's dreams, and that Vincent can dream and remember her. Matilda is safest where she is moving so in this first Act (18 chapters) it was so fascinating seeing her navigate between the immortal and mortal realms! I also had the chance to read the e-ARC so I am continuing on and I can't wait to see what Rebecca Ross comes up with in the rest of the book! The narration of this audiobook is absolutely stunning and I already can't wait for my re-read with the full audiobook!

Thank you to the Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for the sneak peek audiobook in exchange for my review!

5 stars on narration, 4.5 stars on story -- Rebecca Ross has woven another mesmerizing tale with this Divine Rivals prequel. I have read nearly everything Ross has written and LOVED it. This installment in the Letters of Enchantment series is a strong addition that introduces the world of the immortal gods and goddesses. We focus on Matilda, a young goddess of both Underling and Skyward who finds herself watching a young mortal's dreams. When she realizes that Vincent can dream of her and remember her, Matilda's life is forever changed as she must learn to navigate immortal and mortal realms.

As a long-time lover and early arc reader of Divine Rivals, I was so excited to pick this up to enter the realm of the immortals. Though there's nods to the world we know in Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows, this is unique and laden with folkloric tales of old. Ross's prose is rather stunning and the emotions of the characters resonated with me strongly.

I also had the chance to read the full version of the e-arc and the story was amazing (part of my review is the same from the full arc review). I'm so excited for the full audio version! Thank you to the publisher Saturday Books and NetGalley for the advanced readers copy as well as a preview of the audio listening copy! This did not affect my review in any way.
