This audiobook sneak peek was the perfect taste of this upcoming book! I am so invested in Matilda’s story. Who is she going to become? Who is Vincent going to become? I must continue! The audiobook was very well produced. The multiple narrators were perfect for the wide range of characters in the book. The audiobook added to my enjoyment of the story by cultivating the eerie and mistrustful vibe of the Underling and Skyward realms. I can’t wait to listen to more when this book releases!

I am speechless, I listened to the sneak peak of the first 18 chapters and I loved everything about this book/audiobook. I did not want it to end. Rebecca Ross writing is so magical and I loved being back in this world. The narrator did a phenomenal job. I can't wait to read and listen to the rest of the story when it is released.

This took me a little while to get into as I was unsure of where the story was headed at first, but before long I was completely hooked. I especially enjoyed coming across familiar names from Rebecca Ross’s other books, which added an extra layer of excitement and recognition. My knowledge of her other stories and the world she has built definitely helped me connect with this one more quickly, since the connections made the unfolding plot feel richer and more meaningful.
The world building in this sneak peek is not as thoroughly explained as in some of her other works, which may make it a little harder for brand new readers to follow. Because of that, I would recommend reading the Letters of Enchantment series beforehand, as it provides a helpful foundation and makes the events and characters in this book easier to understand. Longtime fans will no doubt appreciate the little nods and references scattered throughout, almost like hidden treasures waiting to be noticed.
The writing itself is easy to follow and very straightforward, yet it still carries that immersive quality of Rebecca Ross's writing. There is quite a lot happening in these early chapters, and I appreciated that the pieces of information introduced later on still felt relevant and purposeful. The pacing moves quickly, and I was intrigued by how the timeline shifted across several years within just the first portion of the story. This gave the sneak peek a layered feeling, with glimpses into different moments that all seem to be leading toward something bigger.
Overall, I think this is shaping up to be a fantastic read, particularly for fans who already love Rebecca Ross’s previous works. The story promises mystery, connections to her larger world, and plenty of little easter eggs for those who have been following along since the beginning. After finishing the eighteen chapters, I am left both satisfied with what I read and eager to dive into the rest of the book.

Reviews will be posted to my social once I read the entire story, and not just this sneak peak.

Thank you Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to the sneak peak if Wild Reverence!

Rebecca Ross is incredible, as always. I adored Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows when they were first released. Now, I'm pulled back into the same universe but now 600 years in the past. I'll be honest when I say that fantasy is not my preferred genre, however, Rebecca Ross makes it accessible and fun to read. I would surely read just about anything she releases.

As this is an audiobook, I cannot forget to mention how the narrator has a lovely voice, and I appreciate the intonation changes when speaking and voicing different characters. I was intrigued throughout the audiobook, and I could not put it down. I cannot wait for the new release of Wild Reverence!

Firstly, thank you to Macmillan audio and Netgalley for this sneak peak. I was very excited to hear the start of this promising story and overall it didn't disappoint.

My thoughts on starting this were that Rebecca Ross does fantastic descriptions and world set-up. I also loved the narration and Mathilda's character, finding her story intriguing as I couldn't tell where it was going to go.

The only downside for me was the flitting from one place to another and one scenario to the next. I found it very confusing and struggled to keep up with the story and magic system. I'm hoping this clears up when hearing it in full, but I feel like I'll need to listen to these 18 chapters again in order to follow the plot.

To conclude, it's a very rich story and one that I have high hopes for.

This just got me in the mood for the new release. I was obsessed with Divine Rivals so I can’t wait to be back in this world. This is set hundreds of years before and it’s quite different but I’m excited to see where it goes. The narrator was amazing and I might just continue it as an audiobook when it releases.

The narrators were amazing, 5 stars to them.

I think the book suffers from extremely slow pacing which makes it hard to want to pick up the book.

Matilda and Bade’s relationship was my favorite out of all of them.

While the book did not live up to my expectations, the narrators kept it moving and did a wonderful job.

Wild Reverence is set in the same world as Rebecca Ross’s Letters of Enchantment duology. The story follows Matilda, the herald of the gods, and Vincent, a mortal man who has dreamed of her for years. When their paths finally cross in waking life, Matilda is drawn into a dangerous game between gods and mortals. Their unexpected bond pushes her to question loyalty, destiny, and the cost of love in a world where even the smallest choice can alter the balance of power. Once seen as weak by the other gods, Matilda grows into her strength, forging her own path and refusing to be shaped by anyone else’s expectations.

As with her other novels, Ross’s prose is lyrical and immersive, making it easy to visualize the vivid settings and become fully absorbed in the world. The pacing is on the slower side for the first three-quarters of the book, but each moment lays important groundwork for the emotional climax and satisfying resolution. While I enjoyed the world-building and story, I personally connected more with Divine Rivals.

I also had the chance to listen to the first 16 chapters of the audiobook, narrated by Hannah van der Westhuysen and George Weightman (with Rebecca Norfolk also listed as a narrator but I don’t think she’s in the first bit of the book). Both narrators brought the characters to life with skill and complemented Ross’s beautiful, lyrical style of writing.

Fans of Rebecca Ross will be swept away by Wild Reverence’s immersive world, lyrical prose, and tragically beautiful story, following Matilda’s journey from overlooked goddess to a powerful, self-determined hero.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and author for granting me a complimentary advanced reader copy of the ebook and sneak peak of the audiobook. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and based off of this draft; the final publication may be different. Expected publication date is September 9, 2025.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the audiobook sneak peak of *Wild Reverence* by Rebecca Ross.

This book takes place in the same world as Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows, long before Iris and Roman's magical typewriter story. The first 18 chapters of Matilda and Vincent's story completely roped me in and now I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for the rest of the story. Publication day can't come fast enough!

The narration for the audiobook is great! It's engaging and really brings the characters to life. I truly can't wait for the full audiobook and rest of the story!

(Will update when I've finished the book)

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to listen to this book before release!

I had the pleasure of re-reading this story in audiobook format, and it made me enjoy the experience so much more. I’m usually very picky about audiobooks, but the narrator here was fantastic, her voices were distinct, engaging, and really brought the characters to life.

Since this was just a short sample/sneak peek, I can’t wait to dive into the full audiobook. I already know that for my next re-read, I’ll be pairing the audio with the physical book for a completely immersive experience. The narrator did an amazing job, and I’m so excited to listen to the full version!

Thank you again to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to listen to this book before release!
