I feel like this could have been really great but instead of putting together an actual story they just decided they wanted to draw a bunch of panels of people fighting [or having sex] without much of anything to string it together.

"Young Terrorists: Pierce The Veil", by Matt Pizzolo is the first volume in the "Young Terrorists" comic series. The plot kicks off with the assassination of a very important and powerful businessman and his daughter's arrest for suspicion of murder. The plot then swirls into global conspiracies and a lot of violence. I enjoyed Pizzolo's afterword about his experience with lobbyists and his drive to write the comic, which made me appreciate the premise a bit more and gave it a bit more context.
In addition to considering the premise intriguing, I also enjoyed the art style. I would give volume 2 a chance to see where the story is headed, but I have to admit I am not in a hurry to do so.

Art and action as violent as the plot is extreme and chaotic. Not my cup of tea. I could see why others would like it if they are okay with the brutality.

Another comic book that sounded AMAZING but I couldn't read it because of file errors. A majority of the pages were just straight up blank!

I think I'm going to stop requesting comics from Netgalley because this has happened one too many times now.

I'm just sad that I couldn't read it...

This is an intense dystopian comic series. It's in an undefined present/future time period with questionable policing and a big brother feel. The plot involves those who would be considered terrorists because they are anti-authority and do what they believe is necessary for the greater good. It's well written and has some good art. It is, not surprisingly, very violent at times and definitely for adults only.

Really, it was my fault. I read on planes and sometimes I do not realize that a comic/graphic novel I am reading is really not appropriate for reading in public places. This is one of them. When you are reading on something larger, like an iPad, do not read this book in public. You will be in danger of breaking decency rules. There were so many sex scenes and large profanity that I lost the story and stopped reading. It is not the fault of the story itself, I just was not prepared and then I don't think I am a prude, but I just could not follow the story line after that.

A dark and gritty read that was truly fascinating!! I can't wait to read the rest of the series!
If you are not into graphic violence, this may not be the read for you as it is pretty in depth and touches on some sensitive subject matter. But, if you can get passed that it is well worth it!

I actually really enjoyed this book. It wasn't what I expected and was definitely what I needed after the last graphic novels I read. The illustrations were really well done and I just really liked this book. I cannot wait to see where this series goes.

Awesome. I'm loving the comics from this company. Urban and fun.

Graphically violent and skillfully illustrated. It is seriously flawed by a premise that might be summarized as what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. The protagonist was physically abused by her father by torturing her at the same time she was expected to perform well at mental tasks. She was being trained to be a gladiator. In fact, children who are abused this way do sometimes become raging fighters, people who see only danger in every encounter, with the accompanying need to lash out in order to survive. In this novel, the protagonist is repeatedly brutalized, only to survive by being even more brutal than her attackers. These brutal attacks always take a form that objectifies women and sexuality’s violence against women. This is really crass entertainment.

This graphic novel was intense. Nudity, sex, violence, technology, powers(?), and a gritty storyline about revenge. This story is definitely an intro (a dark, disturbingly straightforward) into a bigger scheme, a bigger plan. The misfit cast consists of regular people in horrid situations trying to destroy the "dystopia" of our current society.

The best thing to describe it is 'overly' - overly violent, overly sexual, overly grotesque - but it works if those things don't bother you or take away from the story when you read.

NB: Definitely for mature readers only!

I feel like this could have been really great but instead of putting together an actual story they just decided they wanted to draw a bunch of panels of people fighting [or having sex] without much of anything to string it together. Like there is basically no explanation for how the government even works in this even though the whole point of the entire thing is them fighting against said government. Is it basically still the government we have now but with even more privacy invasion? At one point Sera says that Detroit is a sovereign city-state so like ...what's up with that? Are a lot of big cities basically their own states now? Are the states even connected anymore or are they all basically their own countries? Could we have taken a few pages to lay out the groundwork here? I really wanted to like this and the artwork is really great but there's just not enough of a coherent story to make me care about what's happening at all unfortunately.

Soo... I have no idea what I just read. I had a good time, but I didn't know what I was signing up for. Explaining this whole premise is a task I'm not even going to try to attempt. The art was gorgeous, I will say that. If you want something weird, gory and quick, sure give it a try
